Excellent all-inclusive hotel, though showing age ”
After receiving a discount on the room rate through my rewards points, our room rate ended up being very reasonable, but even the standard rate is much lower than I was expecting for Yangon hotels. Having said that, maybe rates have finally started to fall as there is more competition and my stay having been during the low season, it's not like there were too many tourists and business travellers competing for rooms, unlike during the 2012-13 tourist rush to the country. Anyway, the room was fine, with a nice balcony but as the hotel was built in the 80s and not upgraded much since, a few minor things are showing their age, such as the toilet not flushing properly and the carpets and other furnishings being quite old. However, a new lift is currently under construction, which will replace the old one. The buffet breakfast, full of western, Indian and Chinese/Burmese style options was outstanding, far better than any buffet anywhere else in Myanmar. This is the standard for hotel breakfasts, with a cheese board and selected cold meats, corn flakes and even Swiss style muesli, seasonal tropical fruit, salads, bread, noodles, Burmese style breakfast soup (Mohinga), Indian flat breads with pea curry and many other options, just superb. The pool was nice and inviting and we had a quick swim before breakfast. The surrounding gardens and view onto Inya Lake also quite stunning. Service was fast and professional and was in line with expectations from a hotel of this calibre. Apart from some renovations needed to modernize the standard of the corridors and the rooms, the hotel is more of a 4.5 star standard than merely 4 star and definitely one of the top 10 hotels in the city.

Great place to spend time”
With great internet and real charm (rather than just bland efficient international accommodation), this is my favourite hotel in Yangon. There are others that may suit the flashy businessman/woman and it is great that they want to stay at them because the Inya Lake Hotel is for those who know class and timeless design. It is for those who enjoy fantastic breakfasts and wonderful staff and who like taking a swim in a supersized pool with beautiful views of the lake and who like to stroll around lawns and beneath trees. If you like any or all of these things then for sure you will like the Inya Lake Hotel.

Inya lake is fatanstic”
Those who said Inya Lake hotel is old, do you know that it has a history of over 100 years. Those who said it is secluded, can you find another hotel in Myanmar that owns acres and acres of lands and a LAKE!. To walk one round takes 20 minutes! Gym, outdoor swimming pool, cafe and bars(not only one), what more do you need? At this price? i would definitely keep coming back and this is the only hotel i will choose to stay in Myanmar ever! love it! it is just not fair, shitty ones like 9 Mile hotel, KH hotel, or Royal Pavallion also have review points 7. Yup I have stayed at all 3. trust me, will never step a foot there again after comparing them with Inya Lake! :P

Fantastic Elegant & Charming Hotel”
Excellent. The Inya Lake hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Yangon and is a wonderful place to stay - whether on holiday or business. It is situated away from any busy roads and surrounded by beautiful green landscapes. The swimming pool area overlooks the lake and is perfect for relaxing. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings, minimally decorated (which suits me) and nice spacious views from the balcony. The breakfast is delicous with a wide range of food available. The staff always made me coffee exactly how I like it. All in all the staff were helpful, friendly and very responsive. It's a great place to stay.

One of the best options in Yangon”
The Inya Lake is one of the best options at this price in Yangon. In a suburb en route from the airport to downtown, it is set in beautiful spacious grounds. While the building is not much to look at from the outside (think 1970's concrete), the rooms are spacious, with parquet floors and comfortable in a simple, understated way. While, like many Yangon hotels, this one has obviously seen better, more luxurious days, everything still functions well, and the service was very attentive. If you want a peaceful, relaxing oasis, and don't mind the 20 minute taxi trip into town, then this is the place.

A great place to stay between the city and airport”
We were originally going to stay downtown, but we are glad we chose the Inya Lake hotel instead. It is a short cab ride from the city, but it is peaceful and quiet and away from all the traffic fumes. It is operated by the same company as the Strand Hotel in the city, so standards are high. The lakeside location with wonderful views and sunsets, and the large swimming pool where you can have food and drinks as you lounge in the sun. The staff are friendly and efficient. The exterior of the building is unimpressive as it was built in the 60's as a "gift" from the USSR. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and comfortable. There is a lovely Sunset bar and a large restaurant which provides an excellent breakfast and other meals including an occasional all-you-can-eat buffet. The hotel caters for corporate functions, weddings, etc., and while we were there, filming was taking place in the grounds for TV commercials!

Golden slumber”
With its larger than normal rooms and high ceilings, the rooms at the Inya Lake Hotel give out an old-world charm that doesn't exist in today's four- and five-star hotels. The entire hotel exudes a character absent in the sterile hotels of the modern world. And the service provided by the staff was top class, with smiles and courtesy throughout. I'd go back to stay there if I need to go to Yangon again.

Even better than usual since renovations complete ”
Always find Inya Lake Hotel a Paradise Island. Yangon is busy and crowded and it is nice to have a peaceful retreat when the hassle of meetings is over. Since ILH is 1/3 of the way from airport to downtown, there is no need to face traffic unless you absolutely need to be there. The hotel has lots of facilities like ATM machine (rare in Yangon) and a clinic, large pool and extensive landscaped area.

Very comfortable”
I spent two nights at the Inya Lake Hotel while traveling alone. The hotel is situated in a garden with a very nice pool that not many people seem to use. The gardens and pool provided a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of Yangon. Everyone was very friendly and helfup. I had a late flight out and they let me stay in my room later. The lobby area was also very comfortable to sit in once I had checked out. The hotel is a little farther away from the downtown area, but as a result, is closer to the airport. I would definitely stay here again.

Inya Lake Hotel”
The Inya Lake hotel is a late art deco experiance The feeling of space in and around the hotel is "vast" The floors are teak parquetry the rooms have deco solid timber furnishings in good repair looking like they have been recently re-upholstered I hope they never are tempted to "modernise" They are on a winner Location is not a problem a taxi to town will cost you 2000kep but keep in mind that petrol is rationed so its a fair "tourist" price

Pleasant surprise”
We had a very pleasant stay at this Hotel a short while ago. I was a bit suspicious about this Hotel since I read many unfavorable reviews on other portals and the Hotel being already more than 60 years old. I don't know what people expect but we have been very pleasantly surprised about this place. Agree, the Hotel is more than 60 years old but it has been carefully maintained in the past and was constantly upgraded. Yes, the bathroom fittings, the decor, and the furniture is old style too but of is in perfect shape. Everything is solid and in working order. A classic contemporary Hotel located in a perfectly manicured 37 Acre park on the shore of Lake Inya. An enormous swimming pool, tennis courts, gym, many facilities and shops within the hotel as well as the possibility to go jogging without even leaving the Hotel complex. The staff is very efficient and friendly, the breakfast is of gigantic variety and the food is excellent. I would book this Hotel again without hesitation.

Best hotel for kids in Yangon. ”
Best hotel for kids in Yangon. Yes, it’s quite far to get downtown but Worth it. Yangon is hectic so it’s lovely to have Inya Lake Hotel as a respite. Great pool, lovely surroundings, safe for kids. More space for children to run around than any other hotel in the city.

Wonderful hotel for relaxing”
I had a great time while staying in this hotel for 3 nights. Once we arrived at the hotel, they served us with a welcome drink. The receptionists and bellboys are very friendly. When we checked into our rooms, we are surprised that the rooms is actually quite big for 2 of us. The hotel has a wide range of facilities too which inclusive of swimming pool, gym, tennis court, spa, steam room and sauna. The supervisor of the gym is very helpful. As the hotel is just next to the famous Inya Lake, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sunset at the lakeside. I took a number of photos of the captivating view of sunset.

Good Time Away”
We really enjoyed our stay here. We wanted to get away from the smog, noise, congested traffic, and lack of parks/greenery in Yangon, so we stayed here at this little Oasis. It's right next to Inya Lake as well so was able to sit back and enjoy the green grass, trees and breeze from the lake. Pool was great, as was the breakfast. Even though we work and live in Yangon it was a good place to get away. And the price from Agoda was good to.

Tranquil retreat from hustle bustle of Yangon”
Enjoyed a relaxing stay at Inya Lake hotel and would love to return however there are limited food choices , temperamental wifi log in and it is situated a little far from sights. It has a lovely pool area and tennis courts . Used to visit this place over the past 20 yrs when it was a modern luxurious haven and hotels were lacking in Yangon, however due to a lack of investment - ( it is government owned) have seen it decline sadly but it remains a restful place ( providing no wedding functions ongoing). Most of the nice jewellery , souvenir , art , home decor and antique shops onsite have been replaced by charitable organisation offices . I would recommend this for a tranquil retreat which we achieved at a discounted price but there are other luxurious modern hotels with better amenities and nearby malls for a fraction extra .

an oasis”
I would definitely recommend Inya Lake Hotel to anyone who wants to have a pleasant stay in Yangon. Its charming in kind of a nostalgic colonial way and provides a peaceful retreat to anyone not hell bent on being immersed in a tourist nightmare. Its also easy to strike up a conversation with some of the longer term residents of the hotel who use it as their base for NGO work etc.

Reminiscent of a by gone era”
The Inya Lake Hotel has great ambience. One feels as if one has entered a slower more gracious era. The lakeside location and the gardens are beautiful and relaxing and one gets a sense of what Yangon was like before the development boom. The public spaces and rooms are beautifully proportioned. The little coffee shop on the ground floor as well as the bar with a view of the lake are great places to just hang out or to meet people. I did enjoy my stay was disappointed that I did not get a room with a view of the lake.

Beyond the old hotel rooms, the price and size of ”
I enjoyed my stay at Inya Lake Hotel and would definitely consider coming back to this hotel again. The scenery of the lake was beautiful in the morning. It may not be next to the main road, but if you plan to return to your hotel only once a day, its really no issue at all. Overall feel of the hotel was on the old dated style and maybe the rooms have a slight musty smell, but it was not an issue for me. Overall, the hotel was clean and nice. Great place.

Great location and view”
the best thing going for the inya lake is its location, gardens and lake view. the hotel was built by the russians in the late 1950s (the hotel opened in 1962), so the rooms are old, as are the lifts. nevertheless, there has been an effort at maintenance and renovation. the hotel staff are friendly, helpful and ready to assist. one drawback is no complimentary coffee/tea facility in the rooms, which one has come to expect automatically. instead, the inya lake offers you hot water in a flask (and you use your own coffee/tea packets), or you have the choice to walk outside to the common sitting area on each floor where there is a hot and cold water dispenser. a plus is that it is within walking distance to a great italian restaurant, l'opera, which offers fine dining without breaking the wallet. another plus is the effort they make for the breakfast buffet. the inya lake offers you fresh seasonal fruit, a welcome departure from the tired choice usually available at most hotel buffets. we loved the mangoes, which were in season at the time of our visit. the hotel is now host to some un and international offices renting office space, so expect to see more faces at breakfast.

Great alternative to on the water hotels at Inle”
Our stay was great. The staff was very accommodating. They helped arrange a lake tour, gave us free bikes to ride, and even dealt with an obnoxious cab driver for us. The view from the rooftop bar was great. Overall, a great choice if you choose not to stay on the lake. Inya Lake Hotel is located right next to the jetty for easy access to the lake.
