Great stay in Gora at Tenmaku ”
We really enjoyed our night at the guest house. It was quite a trendy surprise among the sleepy Gora-Hakone. We knew as soon as we walked in that it was a good pick. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Our room was a bit like a capsule since it was a small space and up a small ladder. It was hard to tell from the pictures but the room had a landing where you can stand to dress and stage your things. Only complaint was that it was very toasty at night! But I think that might have been an attempt to combat the negative outdoor temps. The open grill and lounge was a nice place to have a drink in the evening. The staff were very keen to help us get to our next destination which we appreciated as it is a rural area where google maps gives stop and bus names in Japanese. The open air museum next door was also a highlight for us. Overall , a really great stay.

Stayed here in June 2019 with a friend. We checked in late at night and were treated with every courtesy, nice staff, clean room and decent facilities. An old building but kept up to date with all modern amenities. Nice fireplace and very clean bathroom with decent showers. Slightly further out that the tourist facilities but easily accessible with buses 5 mins away.

Location of the hostel is great. I can go everywhere in Hakone by bus stops near it. Staff is super helpful, so I can deposited my luggage before check-in and after check-out time. Facilities including shared bathrooms, toilets and kitchen are good and clean. If I have a chance to go to Hakone again, this hostel will be my first choice!

Nice design interior, clean and very helpful staff. If you need to find some restaurants, you can walk to Gora station, 15 minutes walking distance. Most of stores and restaurants will be closed around 6:30 PM...

Friendly, welcoming staff and able to meet a lot of new folks!”
The wooden interior is lovely with a wide communal space filled with gorgeous natural light in the mornings. I highly recommend joining them for a BBQ dinner at night, cooked fresh in their open grill! Was able to talk to and meet a lot of new people from the dinner!

Charming guesthouse with friendly staff”
Beautifully presented guesthouse with friendky staff. Our Japanese twin room was very large and spotlessly clean. Only downside was the traffic noise as we faced onto the road and during the day it was quite busy, but it did quieten down overnight. There is a lovely and well equipped share kitchen and a communal lounge and bar. We couldn't try our the evening meal as it was fully booked, but we had a delicious and cheap meal just round the corner at Futaba.

Wonderful staff that speak English fluently and are incredibly friendly. The bar at night was a lot of fun, I met a lot of people and made friends. The bar at night was a lot of fun too. Short walk from bus stops that run every 5-15 minutes.

Friendly stay, great location and affordable ”
Great value, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Only basic Japanese style room (when you pay for private room), but the shared dinner around the indoor bbq was one of the highlights of our stay for the chance to chat and laugh and share food and travel tips with staff and fellow travellers. All the facilities you’d expect and near a Lawsons and right next door to the amazing Outdoor Sculpture Museum. They can even direct you to a sister accomodation nearby with public onsen for only ¥500

I stayed 1 week in Irori Guesthouse... And it was such an amazing week, I actually had difficulties to leave ! The place is amazing ! But what really makes it better than any other place I've been to before (and I've been to quite a few ^^) : The people !
