Lovely hotel, lovely staff”
Islanda occupies a beautiful spot overlooking a beach (no direct access, hence the magnificent view!). The infinity pool is bliss and we loved a dip either before heading out for the day or on our return, as the sun went down. The staff were lovely – so friendly and helpful – from the catering crew to Noi at the main desk, who organised our hire scooter (which appeared after breakfast the next day) and transfer back to Bangkok. We were collected at the port by another super-efficient, super-nice member of staff (afraid I didn't catch his name), so getting to the hotel was easy; he turned up within 5 minutes of calling the hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The balcony had a comfy seat that was positioned so you could enjoy the view over the sea. We were a bit wary of Islanda, having read some negative reviews regarding strict rules. I'm happy to report that this wasn't a problem, though. Yes, there are some signs, but nothing we haven't seen before. I've mentioned that we hired a scooter – I'd say you need some sort of transport to get around the island. However, the hotel is an easy walk to some really nice restaurants in the evening if, like us, you don't want to drive at night.

Staff and service was great. Our room was a good size and we got an upgrade to an ocean view terrace. Clean, tidy and very professional. The swimming pool and views are amazing, best on the island! The staff were Very friendly and polite, I would highly recommend to book your stay here! Couple travelling from Scotland 🏴

We stayed at Islanda for 5 nights. We found the resort to be lovely with awesome views. The staff were really helpful and kind. We forgot our charger and they had it returned to us on Koh Chang. We would stay here again.

Very nice small hotel, where you have like private service due to size of hotel. Pool is nice and view is stunning from pool and breakfast area. Stuff was very nice also. Only small minus comes location of hotel, but by renting scooter, it does not matter, you need it anyway in this island and it takes only 5 minutes to go beach.

Beautiful hotel, located between northern-west and southern beaches of Koh Mak. This hotel has the BEST STAFF that I've experienced - very helpful, honest, especially staff manager! I hope I could visit this place again.

Almost Paradise”
This was our first stay at Islanda and we based our expectations on their website. The resort mostly lived up to its advertising with some exceptions. Pluses: undoubtedly the best pool view on the island...we could have just stared for hours and did. Staff was very friendly and polite even with some language barriers. They often went out of their way to send us to different sites and sounds on the island. Our room, which was on the back side (garden view) was very clean with great a/c Location: very well located near the junction of two streets that lead everywhere on the island. You are about 10 to 15 minutes walk to several bars and resorts. Quiet: extremely quiet even for a quiet island almost to the point of needing some noise. Negatives: swim up bar doesn't exist period Some of the pool feature (dragon fountains) haven't apparently worked for a long time The owners/staff were really strict about keeping the place clean and controlled with lots of notes and rules..

Clean and Pleasant with Helpful Staff”
We spent three nights at Islanda Resort and found it quite agreeable. Wonderful view from the restaurant and pool. Staff was very helpful. We were given free tickets for the boat to Koh Kham. The hotel does sit atop a small hill and the return walk from the nearest beach entails a steepish ascent for about the last 100 meters or so.

Stay here for the view”
The hotel is located on a hill so there is a breathtaking view from the terrace and the pool area. 10 min walk to the nearest beach. You can take a taxi or rent a bike/motorbike to go around the island The rooms are quite nice. The staff are very friendly. Food however is average.

It looks like family hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. About 10 - 15 min walk (sloping) to the beach at Koh Mak Resort. Breakfast reasonable to good: you can tick what you want on a list. To go somewhere or to see something you actually have to rent a motorbike, very easy to rent at this hotel !

The room are so dirty and didn't have cleanliness preparation. The facility and surroundings are old & dirty. Many insects welcome us on the 1st night. Staff are friendly but, they didn't have reception to support for 24 hours.

Beautiful hilltop ocean views ”
The Islanda hotel is a lovely property on a small hill with an incredible view. It is quiet, unassuming and relaxing. The pool is lovely. The staff are all fantastic and make you feel at home. Koh Mak is a beautiful peaceful place to spend some time and this property is a good base for doing so.

Fantastic hotel with astonishing view”
islanda is more a hotel than a resort with great rooms, the most fantastic view from the restaurant area and infinity pool. the staff is really nice and the owner is a super enthousiastic women willing to help with everything. arrange your trips (diving, snorkeling, cooking class, boat, transfer etc) with her so you can save your cash for on the island as there is no atm. hotel bill can be paid with visa. location is not at the beach, but we found this an advantage as there are less sandflies. walking to the south beach is 5-10 min. walking to north beach is closer, just go to cococape resort and walk through to the beach. snorkeling is quite nice there also (at the pier and rocky area next to it).

New Boutique Hotel with a Modern Touch”
(NOTE: Stay here during slow season) Amazing to have this small modern hotel on a remote island like Koh Mak. Modern room with all the trimmings (hot shower;satellite TV; free wi-fi,infinity pool..) True, it has to have the best view on the island; however,to get to the beach it is a 15 minute walk away from your area. Also (detail here)if I was the architect-designer of the hotel,I would have placed the length of the hotel (rooms) facing the beautiful sea instead side-ways. I would have place the pool in front of the hotel,& the restaurant on top (4th floor). But designers many not understand that people like privacy. From you balcony you can see the sea at an angle and into your neighbor balcony, (poor design). From your balcony you look over the pool, and to the restaurant. Not much privacy, but this is a minor detail for some people. So, no privacy on the balcony, people at the open air restaurant, infinity pool can look up and see you including your neighbors in the next room. I like privacy when I am on the balcony. So I give the architect low marks when designing the layout. It is a small plot of land but the 6 rooms on each floor could have faced the sea instead of sideways. It was slow season but... the restaurant staff should be trained better in how to take care of customer. You do not deliver a plate of rice before you place the eating utensils or placemat. (DUH) You do not sit there and look at your phone making the customer wait to order another dish or beer. The food was excellent when it was delivered, but the restaurant lacked professional training. Sad for such a classy place. --but this is Thailand and most Bangkok owners do not believe in paying good salary for good staff or doing good training. They think staff will learn through osmosis. The manager (Thai woman that spoke good English ) was above the norm-fantastic. I even saw her helping out in the restaurant and mopping the deck after the rain. That is a good manager!!!!!

Best on Ko Mak”
I stayed here last week, and I enjoyed this resort and also Ko Mak. The views are amazing, the staff are all wonderful. The pool is just perfect, same as in the photos. This would be the best resort on Ko Mak. I took a Thai cooking class at "Smile Ko Mak" cooking school, and it was well worth doing. You can hire a scooter from the resort which is a good idea, so you can look around the island. The only downside is the pool closes at 7pm, I think 8pm would be better, also there are no English channels on the TV, but these are not major issues. I am sure you will enjoy this resort and the lovely staff as much as I did.
