A real surprise as it’s a very large place with some lovely places to relax by the pool or library”
The food was lovely, just the right balance and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful and the room was very clean and comfy.

Great resort ”
Great place to stay. Fantastic staff, superior room great, The Flamingo cafe a god send as it rained for 95% of the holiday. We could not fault this resort as it has everything. Great for singles, couples and families. All staff were most helpful and friendly from house keeping to front of house. Definitely would return and highly recommend.

Stayed two nights at Cairns Colonial will definitely be coming back. The grounds are very well maintained looks newly renovated pool side area kids area and flamingo restaurant . Had done food by the pool very nice and they were very reasonable prices.

Room itself was just average however the outside areas were awesome. Hotel had few different pools and we had an amazing time. There was even a small rainforest walk (and fruit bearing mango trees) inside the hotel premises. Beautiful atmosphere, we spent most of our time inside pool areas, kids refused to come out. One thing I hated was 'so many smoking areas' and it's not a joke.. Smoking smell is so strong and I even thought of leaving the place.. The management must do something about this.. It's a beautiful place that has a huge potential but not with so many smokers around the place (I thought there were some long term residents in the facility who are responsible for the smoking issue). Sad but I wish it was purely a tourist hotel without those smokers.

Hidden little paradise”
The colonial club was a real delight! The facilities were absolutely fabulous, with multiple pools, play equipment for the kids, table tennis and an on-site restaurant and bar, it's easy to spend all day just chilling in the resort. The rooms were clean and seem to have been renovated. The kitchenette with a microwave and fridge was great for those wanting to make their own breakfast/lunch. It is difficult to get to without a car, as it is off the main hub of cairns, but overall, a great place!

Fantastic trip”
Really nice hotel. Location is super close to the airport. I was self driving so all shops/restaurants were about 5-10mins away. Room was fine with no complaints. Breakfast was satisfactory nothing to rave about. Reception staff were amazing. Definitely recommend

Great hotel with brilliant facilities”
Great hotel, exceptionally clean. Poolside bar was the only evening food option open the 3 nights we were there, but the food was excellent quality and value. Breakfast good and worth getting. Pool lovely. Rooms well equipped, USB charging points in the room a nice touch Slightly outside Cairns town but close enough and runs a shuttle bus

Excellent property! Approaching the hotel, you're presented with a grand, colonial style frontage surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. The friendly reception staff made check-in a breeze. Walking to our rooms under covered walkways, you're surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. Although this is a large property, well placed signage helps to ensure you arrive at your room without getting lost. We stayed in the superior rooms, which were spacious, had excellent bathroom facilities with all the usual mod-cons. My room being ground level, had a private courtyard and lush garden, giving a wonderful ambience and tranquillity. Rooms on the 1st floor come with a private balcony. The on-site Restaurant & Bar, Thirsty Flamingo, offers a wonderful experience provided by very friendly and welcoming staff. Here, there are great breakfast options as well as a dinner menu. Standard drinks (spirits and local beer) are available at a very reasonable price ($7 AUD), even cheaper during Happy Hour (4-5pm). For cocktail lovers, you won't be disappointed - some of the creations I observed looked awesome! For families, this venue is very kid-friendly, with a pool nearby. For smokers, we had an outdoor space available as well (a little bit tricky when it's raining). Location: town centre is about a 15 minutes' taxi ride (standard: $13-15; maxicab: $22-30). So, if you need to stock up on supplies for your room or visit the many pubs, restaurants and shops, be prepared to take a lot of rides! All in all, the Cairns Colonial Club Resort is a wonderful place to stay and if I was to visit Cairns in the future, I definitely would stay here again without hesitation.

A nice surprise”
I spent a week at the Colonial Club with a family member. We found the resort to be everything we’d hoped, with very friendly, helpful staff, comfortable rooms, a good buffet breakfast, lovely lagoon pool (plus two more pools), and a relaxed poolside bar/cafe with great food. All in all, good value for money and definitely recommended.

Cairns Colonial Club Resort - Highly recommended! Stayed here for a week in a superior room and recommend as the hotel of choice. As you arrive at this property, you’re presented with a grand colonial frontage surrounded by beautiful, lush tropical gardens. The friendly reception staff ensure that check-in is a breeze, with minimum fuss. Getting to your room is via fully covered walkways with clear signage along the way, ensuring that one doesn’t become lost. All the while, the well maintained gardens greet you on either side. My spacious, well-presented room with beautiful bathroom and usual mod-cons, was situated at ground level with a private courtyard and lush garden. Rooms on the 1st floor come with a private balcony. At the on-site Restaurant & Bar (Thirsty Flamingo), you’re greeted by very friendly staff, willing to attend to your needs. They have many tasty options for breakfast and dinner and at beer o’clock (10.30am), standard drinks were offered at a great price of $7 ($5.60 during happy hour 4-5pm). Very creative cocktails are also available. This venue is very family friendly with a pool and playground close by. To the rear a smoking garden is available. CON Being located about 15 minutes drive from the city, be prepared to rely on Taxis a lot for shopping, restaurants, bars and some tours. Allow up to 15 minutes wait time when planning your day /evening.

Lovely resort”
Such a beautiful resort. Definitely a great place to bring kids. We didn't this time, but will in future. The resort is a little further out of town, so either hire a car or you will need to book an uber or taxi. This wasnt a problem for us we were happy ordering an uber to get around. Food was great and staff super friendly. Our flight home was cancelled, which ment we needed to stay an additional night. Staff were so helpful finding us a room. Highly recommend this resort and will definitely be coming back again.

Family friendly Resort”
Everything about the Cairns Colonial Resort is great. Comfortable, clean rooms. Staff were friendly. Pools were amazing. Eateries were lovely. Great playground area for kids and lovely gardens. Very reasonably priced, wished we were able to have stayed longer.

We only stayed a few nights and in covid but would definitely recommend people come and support. Had the pools and bars , rooms a good size , clean sheets and food at the bar was excellent and breakfast although a bit slow well presented. Would love to see this place busier and we will be coming back

Could not fault it. Outdoor Restaurant is fantastic and quite cheap. Serves great food. All staff super friendly and the room was great.

Always a great relaxing stay here. The pool is lovely and has a great cafe right next to it. Highly recommend for anyone, especially families.
