Spend a little more and stay somewhere better”
Grand Swiss Belhotel is, despite being a "luxury" hotel, a decidedly middle-of-the-road option. Everything, from the reception on arrival, the music in the elevators, the cleanliness of the room, and the quality of the food is just ok (and really only just ok). Small rooms in which you can hear the next door neighbours, lacklustre views, and bad restaurants. The Edge restaurant had only 1 vegetarian option on the menu (an uninspiring mushroom soup) and while the waffle I had at breakfast tasted alright, the hair in it put me off eating the rest of my meal. Spend a bit extra and stay in true luxury, with great views and restaurant options at the JW Marriott Medan (where we have stayed on 3 occasions now).
