Better in the summer”
May to November, Survivor's filming on the island and the surrounding islands, so it severely limits what you can see. As the locals say, Survivor takes the most beautiful parts of the island. You can still meet locals, go snorkeling, surfing, exploring (in the direction Survivor isn't), but if you really want to get lost, a distant different island might be for you The staff was hands-down excellent. Made the whole experience delightful. Just be wary to pack in your own food/water because it's expensive on the island (takes a lot of fuel to haul items in). I'd recommend for a couple days.
Good, Basic Accomodations”
Ratu Kini provides excellent value for money and location in the Mamanucas close to many attractions. The accommodations are basic, but clean and relatively comfortable. The dorms are very spacious, and the staff is friendly.
Rats in the room”
Horrible place. I wish we could add photos
Very bad experience”
We agree to book 2 nights since we were promised to get a free transfer from Nadi. When we arrived they asked us for 185fjd. So fiji... They refused to check us in and left us hours in the sun with all.our bags. I was never so stressed. We agree to pay 160fj ( which i regret since its a ridiculous price) in order to refund us for pur stay.. Now.im waiting to get my money back us they promised. Im worried since Tui is someone I cant trust. He will sat anything to bring you there but his words worth nothing.
Wonderful place, wonderful staff, village atmosphere, good and affordable excursions.”
Great place to stay a few days and (relatively) affordable. Wonderful staff, excellent excursions, decent menu.
Great place to chill out, wonderful people”
Wonderfull staff, good food, great and affordable excursions. The resort is a good mix between tourists and the locals from the village behind it.
Had an enjoyable stay at Ratu Kini. However do not expect much as it is a backpackers with basic facilities. We got a private room that is a bit of a walk away from the reception. Will walk through a school and their village, which we got a bit of the village life :D Staff were all very friendly and there is games/ activities almost every night. Overall we had lots of fun and the scenery there is breathtaking any time of the day. Would go back again!!!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Ratu Kini Backpackers and Dive Resort. All staff is extremely kind and welcoming. Shows or dances are undertaken every night. Rooms are big and clean, very close from restaurant and reception area. Plenty of activities might be done if you have time and snorkelling at Dream beach (10min away walking) is probably the best one we have done in Fiji. Highly recommended. We'll come back when we are 3 members on the family ;-) Thanks to Ratu Kini! Cristina & Juan
We had a lovely stay”
(+) It's a backpacker place, so lower your standards. Truly speaking we had a wonderful stay there. The staff is great and the people staying there were super cool. The best thing about this place is that they have deals for everything. If you stay there you actually save money on everything, because for example they have meal plans, their own cheap transport service, cheap diving, deals for island trips or claud9, etc. (-) I struggled setting up the remote controller to be able to use the aircon. Room is rather small and the bathroom & toilets are ... "backpacker style". Don't expect much hot water if I remember well. As always in the country they add a percentage fee when you pay with credit card. So withdraw cash (e.g. from airport) before coming to the island.
Needs a lot of love but staff and views make up for this”
Ratu Kini is what you would expect for the price I’m terms of services. Cold showers only, shower head broken, electricity powered by diesel generator turned off 3-4pm daily, very basic provisions and WiFi that is extra and doesn’t work reliably. BUT - the views are like paradise, the staff are welcoming, the food is great and the snorkelling is the best I have ever experienced. The US tv show Survivor films here 6months a year, which shuts down the island, but they were gone when I was there, so no inconvenience to my holiday. I would come back for an authentic Fijian experience, but if you are expecting luxury, this is not it. The good side of this is that everyone staying together in a big dorm, you get to know people, and luckily for me, everyone in my 14 bed dorm was very considerate in regards to noise and turning on the main light.
Went to Mana to dive. Emailed in advance to find out dive availability and pricing only to get there and find out the dive master/instructor (only 1) for this shop was running a course during these dates and therefore couldn't guarantee dives. Was disappointed he didn't advise us of another dive shop next door, thankfully we found it and were able to book through them.
Very Relaxing for those on a budget”
Great place to stay for backpackers and solotravellers who need a cheaper place to stay in a relatively expensive country in Fiji. Its even better that the hostel is located on a picturesque island, however with the filming of Survivor happening there, the entire island isn't always availble for exploration. That is truly the only complaint (if that is even one, it didn't bother me in the slightest) that I have, otherwise I'd wholeheartedly encourage more folks to go there
Really disappointing ”
We were not informed before arriving on Mana Island that 90% of the island is off limits because they are filming a tv series. We felt we should have been told this on advertising accommodation. The only bit you are allowed on was the beach in front of the hostel which was average. The majority of the island is shut every year for 6 months until July time (I think) so be aware! Staff seemed very uninterested to help you, customer service was really bad. Food was average but quite expensive. Would definitely recommend going to another island with so many others to choose from!
The shower was dirty holes in sink dirty shower curtain just a lot of money for what you got”
I thought I paid for room on water the yellow place. I was up in room 108 Very expensive bill came to 540 us dallors People are very nice who work there. Won’t go back😐
Sopra la media”
the food selection is limited choice
People of the backpackers were just incredible- Restaurant has great ambiance and food was delicious- Travelers: you're on a break, remember to smile!!
We stayed in the triple room. Only cold water in the shower. There was a rat running around in the room and it's bit too outdated. Location is nice, food is average and not great value for money. But I would definitely recommend the Dive Resort crew, scuba diving was fun with them and worth a try!😊
Great island. Shame most of it is owned by resort, so u can not even see it. Island hoping is a must”
Dormitory - to close to bar = noisy. Bed=military. Private room was much better (very basic but ok). You are stuck with one restaurant - pricy food.
fantastic three nights stay there, thanks to Lora, Pedro, Nathen and lots more unknown name staff. will definitely go back
