Grande Albergo, bello stile”
Lovely old fashioned hotel”
Been coming here for 20 years. Cons are towels too small recent cutback. No bar or lounge unless you smoke. Night staff not great Pros. Lovely rooms incredibly comfortable beds. Brunch or breakfast great albeit a bit pricey. Service good. Central. We love it as it is old fashioned but superb. Changes would be good to add a nice bar area.
Excellent- with one exception”
Good value hotel in great position for local eating and drinking, and handily placed for S and U bahn to rest of the city Staff efficient and effective The cigar bar was of no interest to us, but from a British perspective, a smoke filled bat was odd- you could drink in the lobby and no sense of smoke lingering in room- even at the front with window open, v quiet, except one mourning around 0600 when it sounded as if all the glass in town was being smashed on the floor The lack of kettle and tea/ coffee facilities cost the Savoy a top grading
Very positive experience, amazing hotel and very good value for money. The breakfast with bubbly was superb (even though it was not included in the price of my room!) Also, after a long business travel, i was very delighted to find the note in my room telling that the hotel has a Finnish sauna. Fab!
The Savoy Berlin Hotel is an exceptional value in terms of outstanding service, facilities and professionalism. The location is excellent. The staff is outstanding and professional. They immediately mailed back to my address articles left a their hotel. I look forward to returning after it's rennovation soon. Thank you Savoy Berlin Hotel Staff! Week at the Savoy”
Very pleased with my stay. Room was ready waiting for us at 9 in the mourning. Didn't have to wait for anything. Friendly staff, got extra pillows from room service while out of town etc. Also late ckeck-out was possible which was super! I think the location is superb. Kochstrasse has some decent food joints while not being overly crowded area. All in all chill and relaxed!
old scholl design”
very nice hotel, averywhere velvet and carpet. a bit old school design, but with newest tecnologies. only the smell of cigar all over the hotel is unpleasant. there is a havanna cigar lounge contected to the hotel. but staff is very friendly and helpful.
nice and clean hotel”
The front desk people are friendly while we check in and check out. They are very efficient, no delay . There is a small balcony at outside of our room, which is super to view the city (we stay on sixth floor). The Internet wifi in the hotel lobby is good, but slow in the room. The lobby is cozy and comfortable, it gives me a kind of nostalgia feeling, which reminds me how people travelled in old days. The elevators are big enough for eight people , and this unusual for a classical hotel.
Old hotel, nice feeling & great location”
Just some minutes walking, you can reach to Kurfurstendamm Blvd, the busiest street of Berlin where all the sight-seeing buses start. The location is the greatest point of the hotel. The hotel is old as it was built around the time of World War 2. You can imagine yourself as a time traveler.
Good location and helpful staff”
The staff were helpful and assisted us with locating services close by such as a hair dresser etc. We enjoyed using the cigar lounge attached on the ground floor, next door to reception for a late night wine or liquor - as we do not oppose smokers the cigar lounge was quite ok for a drink or two. It had great character with signed photos of famous actors on the wall that are known to frequent the hotel from the theatre directly opposite the hotel. The bathroom and coat area (in the entry area of a room), were of a good size. The only concern was that if you find cigarette smoke offensive I would not recommend this room - the smoke drifts up above the cigar lounge and tends to linger for a while.
SAVOY HOTEL BERLIN”
The great location and the superb help and service ensured by helpful and friendly staff are annihilated by the poor state of the rooms (at least the one I stayed in). It is simply senescent, to old and depressing (the furnitures, the layout, the color combination) to be acceptable for a 4 stars hotel. Whilst the lobby, the restaurant and the Cigar Room are aesthetically pleasant, the rooms are so strikingly bad looking that you wonder if you are in a different hotel, back in time during the peak of the Cold War. Last but not least, the smell of Cigars is everywhere also at higher floors: truly an issue in a finally smoke-free Europe!
Hotel with old charm”
Very good location, a hotel with tradition, the room clean and modern!
Good hotel, old-fashioned”
Centrally located hotel, very near KfD. Good hotel, although slightly old-fashioned/outdated. Clean large rooms, old furniture.
Reception Staff were very accommodating, could check in earlier. The location was quiet considering that's it's close to the center. Only the room maids did not clean the room earlier the next day & change the bed sheets, like hotels should.
Easy and pleasant stay for 3 nights”
Charming hotel. Single room is very practical but no air-con. It's OK for me as I don't like strong air-con. They give you a little fan on request. The location is good but it takes 20-30 mins to go to the Museum islands or Tegel Airport although having the main train station Zoo there is very useful. I don't mind a bit of walking and this hotel made me walk a lot to U, S or RE Bahns or Bus (Berlin's excellent public transport). Easy walk to Berlin Zoo. Wifi is fast but a bit annoying to always have to fill in the form to re-connect. The internet was down on my departure day. The drinks in the fridge are over-priced! It's better to buy water and drinks from a supermarket nearby. However, they give you a complimentary drinking water a bottle a day which is good. If they still have the room rate I paid last time, I will definitely go back there.
Useless wifi a big letdown”
Two things stop me calling this a great hotel - the wifi connection in my room was, in a word, pathetic. They use an ancient connection mechanism (you have to get a webpage up on which you then have to insert your name, room number and checkout date) and even when it connected, the connection lasted only a couple of minutes, max. Then you had to do it all again. It was hopeless and the front desk could only make apologies, saying that all the other rooms were ok. Don't you hate to hear that! We had perfectly good internet connection in every other hotel on our travels - but the centre of Berlin in a 4-star hotel? Nothing doing. Another thing - the restaurant was ridiculously overpriced, relative to restaurants in the vicinity.
Great sightseeing, well organised for city breaks”
Nice staff who all spoke really good English and were very helpful and accommodating. Decor/carpets around the lobby, staircase and between floors were a bit tired but rooms were of a good standard. Its key attraction is its quiet and nice location as it is close to the Berlin Zoo, River, Tiergarten Park (a bit like Hyde Park) which offers a nice 30 min walk to the Bradenburg Gate, and has excellent transport links (metro/rail) to central Berlin should you need to get there faster The hotel unfortunately has a couple of flaws. The breakfast is too expensive for people on city breaks so we chose to eat in a waterside cafe in Tiergarten Park (Neuer see) which we built into our sightseeing plans. The cafe was so good we would use it for drinks/pizza on the way back from a tiring day and in a candlelit/waterside setting. The other flaw is that the Savoy hotel only has a smokers bar albeit with a fine library type stock of cigar brands but most uncomfortable and unwelcoming for non smokers - we found this preference to provide a haven for a smaller community of non smokers quite bizarre. On entering you could feel the smoke on your chest within a few seconds. However as we wanted to sample local restaurants and nightlife this did little to spoil our stay. In the immediate locality there is a wide variety of restaurants and bars but avoid the Hard Rock Cafe which we normally go to on every city break but we had an awful service experience with waitresses standing around chatting whilst people were waiting to be served and barman 'expect' tips and if they don't get one come to your table and challenge you as to why and then storm off.
Good location, Bad room layout”
The hotel is small and old but seems recently renovated with warm interior design. The room size is OK but the bed was too small for 2 person. Not enough bedding and the pillow is terribly NOT comfortable (flat as a sheet of paper!). Heater and hot water not working properly sometimes.
