Very popular among Russian families. Very close to the beach although it doesn’t have sun lounges on the beach. Staff very friendly and free drop off at the airport. Under construction around the pool area at the moment.

Large rooms with nice bathrooms”

When we arrived, our room smelled quite badly of damp/mildew. The next morning we talked to reception and they moved us straight away into another room and the smell was less bad. The rooms are nice and big and the showers were hot with good pressure. The beds were hard. There is a decent smaller beach a few minute walk away or amazing ong Lang beach 20 minute walk away(5 minute scooter ride). The breakfast was great with eggs and pancakes cooked to your liking. Lovely pool area and gardens. We would stay here again.

Construction site -2 out of 5 ”

From 7am until 5-6pm at night there was construction taking place in the hotel grounds. Constant sawing, smashing, cutting and hammering. Could not enjoy quite breakfast or afternoon nap as a result. Feel like I should be refunded at least half my money from hotel or Agoda for non-disclosure and false advertising this wasn't a hotel but a construction site. Did not make for a peaceful beginning to holiday. Pros: staff are beautiful people besides not compensating anyone for the noise and the location and breakfast was good.

Location is near the beach but is not the best beach in Phu Quoc, if you’re looking for white sand blue sea water I recommend Sao Beach (least commercialise) Average breakfast Friendly and helpful staff Basic hotel with all needed facilities Bed is hard (if you don’t like you might wanna reconsider) we stayed in room 114

you will not regret booking this place. lovely staff, always smiling and saying hello. my boyfriend and I had massages and they were fantastic! very close to beach and short walk to restaurants at night up the street. 15 min taxi ride to night markets /main town. if your looking for some peace and quiet time then defiantly come here... best value for the price in the area!

Nice hotel near the beach”

Location is very good, it's only a short walk to the Ong Lang beach, no much choose of breakfast. The girl (receptionist) and the boy (waiter - night shift) are very friendly and enthusiastic. However, when my mom request ironing service, the staff said that they didn't have ironing because they gave iron for another guest, they promised they will ironing for my mom at night. Finally, they couldn't ironing for my mom, they said that they just had ONE IRON?????

Very nice breakfast. Kind staff (did not speak much English though). Close to the beach. Good cleaning every day. Free pool/beach towels. Very nice area around the pool with pool beds with curtains. Awful food except the breakfast. We were very pleased with the stay.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and only 2 minutes to a beautiful beach ”

This is a lovely hotel just a two minute walk to a really beautiful beach. The staff are extremely friendly, warm and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them, especially the lady on reception who spoke great English. The pool area is very comfortable and pool towels and mats are provided if you want to take them down the beach. There is no bar or restaurant directly next to the hotel, the village is about a 10 minute walk away from the beach. This is fine during the day and early evening, but a little bit dark/errie after 11 p.m (a few stray dogs and a general lack of street lights, even with a torch we still got growled at!). Ong Lang is a very chilled out and relaxing place and we would definitely recommend staying here over Long Beach and we found this hotel to be perfect for our needs.

Clean, comfortable, and good beach access”

Yun at the front desk is a ray of sunshine. The entire staff was very friendly and pleasant. I enjoyed my time at the resort and the neighborhood restaurants. The breakfast buffet has many items each day, and the hot selections and fruit vary from day to day, with omelettes, eggs, and banana pancakes a constant. The beach is only 3 minutes walk from the resort. My room was clean and large, with a firm bed. Toiletries are supplied, including toothbrush and toothpaste, cotton swabs, soap, shampoo, shower cap, and body lotion so you don't have to bring your own. Two small bottles of water were also provided each day. The resort gives you beach towels and yoga mats to take to the beach. There are sun loungers at the pool. My only negative comment would be to give the spa amiss. It's down a few steps from ground level and is musty smelling and wasn't clean. There is no privacy. My massage was just okay, some time was definitely being killed to make up an hour. Otherwise, do recommend.

Lovely but far too quiet!”

This hotel was very nice if you are looking for a very quiet place to stay. Too far from the town and not cheap to keep having a taxi each way every evening (about £10 a night) so we would not stay here again. Beach was lovely but very narrow making it difficult to find anywhere in the shade to sit. Lovely pool and fantastic breakfast.

Convinient location, close the the main town with they're attractions and a lovely beach. No sun beds & showers on the beach. Good choice of local & international food at many close by restaurants for tourist prices.

Great room - a little farther north on the Island”

Great room, clean, comfortable, quiet and about 5 minutes walking distance to the beach. Getting to the hotel took about 1/2 hour from the ship on the North end. The location requires using taxis or renting a motorbike. This is a great secluded place to stay. Highly recommend it.

R&R at the Vela!”

Very relaxing week at the Vela Phu Quoc Resort. Staff were great and very friendly. Yen on the front desk was a 'ray of sunshine' with her cheerful disposition and efficient manner. Good value place to stay! Close to beach and restaurants.

The rooms are quite good value for money I feel, and only a short walk to the beach. the staff try there best but the hotel could really do with hiring some more as they seem constantly rushed to do things. We had some bugs in our room and the shower is a bit erratic in temperature. The bed is huge (but really just two beds pushed together.) The restaurant food is passable but can be quite salty. The pool is nice. All in all a decent stay but probably better around.

Beautiful clean spacious rooms, lovely pool and sunloungers, helpful reception staff, 5min walk to beach, nice local restaurants nearby. Only downside was that restaurant menu was food was basic but still a good choice for breakfast

Great chillout oasis”

Fantastic location, just a few steps from the beach. The resort ensures all amenities you need: swimming pool, cabanas with sun beds, small gym, breakfast buffet, airport transfer included. The staff is very helpful, they try to meet every needs. If you want to find a remote and quiet beach location that is a perfect spot for you. Restaurants and shops are within 5 minute walk. Bicycles are for free. The rooms are spacious, clean and air-conditioned. We simply love Vela Phu Quoc Resort.

The resort is not suitable for lovers of sunbathing, it is about 200 meters from the beach and does not have its own part of the beach. It is more suitable for families with children for swimming in the local pool. The breakfast was delicious, but some of the food was fast-eaten and either not supplemented or doped with a long delay. Breakfasts total lacked yoghurts, flakes and musli. The cheese was available at most once a week. The bikes and trainers that are to be borrowed have been much obsolete and rusted. Cycling was more of a hardship. Very positive was the friendly staff approach and cleanliness in the rooms and throughout the all resort. There have always been perfectly treated plants and lawns. The pool was cleaned daily. The pavements and the surroundings of the pool were swept daily.

Really cannot recommend this hotel in any way. I am a very regular traveller for business and pleasure for 20+ years, rarely have I regretted booking a hotel so much. Pro: Yen the receptionist is an absolute credit, her service, kindness, professional are 5* The cleaning ladies were also lovely. That's it. It stops there! VERY clever photos taken of pool area, it looks nothing like the pictures. Walls in the rooms are Paper-thin - in fact I could even hear my neighbours yawning! Breakfast - awful. For a country with such amazing coffee, they serve awful stuff. Greasy food, soft/stale fruit, just awful tbh. The hotel is almost 90% Russian, nothing wrong with this but it was clear the hotel manager only had time for you if you were someone important and Russian. I had small dealing with him, his face met me like thunder and there was zero sincerity in this man; the feel of a hotel starts from the top... hence why this resort feels like a black cloud sits above it. So much better around.
