Check in was swift and staff was really nice to show us how to navigate around Kyoto using the paper map. The hostel is located slightly further away from the Gion district, so you will take a longer time to get to the main city area, as you have to take a city bus to and fro (one day bus pass at 600 yen can be bought at the hostel reception). It's located about 15 mins walk to the JR Kyoto Station where you can take the JR train to Fushimi Inari for just a few mins. Good thing is that since the hostel is not by the main Gion district, the streets are not busy and noisy at night so you can have a good night's sleep. There is quite a big common area equipped with a kitchen, hot water kettle and a fridge. There's a heater cum aircon in the dorm which you can easily switch it on and off and small lockers to keep your valuables.
Convenient and cozy gateway to Kyoto”
J-Hoppers is a 5 minute walk from the Kyoto station. The accommodations are decent and adequate for budget travelers who just need to rest after a whole day of sightseeing. No bathtubs or TVs here; this isn't a hotel after all. But you get good space, you can stretch out your legs and your hiking bag -- beats a capsule pod any day. Will book this place again the next time I go sightseeing in Kyoto and need a cheap but decent place to crash
Nice service & Neat room”
The host is kind and friendly. The room is clean and comfortable.Though it is easy to take the bus and subway, it is still a little far away from those famous sites. Also there is no elevator but you can ask the host for help!
Great location and super friendly staff”
We had a great time staying here, the staff was super nice and very helpfull. They did know and sumarize every event in kyoto ao you dont miss out any special event in kyoto. Will do recomnend this place !
I loved this hostel!”
I was so impressed with this hostel! It was incredibly clean and comfortable. Even in a dorm I still felt that I had privacy with curtains around my bed, and the beds were comfortable. All the facilities were great, and there were lockers for valuables.
A home away from home.”
We like staying here. It is just a 10 minute walk to kyoto station. All the staff are nice and friendly. The kitchen is fully equip even with spices to be use for your cooking. There is also free coffee, tea and powdered milk for 24 hours in the kitchen. The place is cozy and full of warmth from the staff. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights.
one night in kyoto”
the gust house was good in many points. although hotel staff had given me an earplug beforehand,i was annoyed by snorimg a little. i found a nice restaurant near by and had dinner there. actually i was on business, but the mood of the restaurant made like a traveller.
10 minutes walk from kyoto station, the front desk service is excellent”
Two tumbs up for the service of their front office, they help us informing the bus route, halal restaurant and helping us arrange luggage delivery to kansai airport. It's 5 storey building, with no elevator inside, so its quite difficult if you bring heavy luggage, but just inform the hotel's staff when you do the booking, they will happy to help you carry the luggage. Bus stop oishibashi is only 1 minutes walk, and tokyo station is only 10 minutes walk from the hostel. Sato restaurant is just cross walk from the hostel, we had japanesse dinner set for only 2000 yen for 3 person.
it'a a 10-minute walk from JR Kyoto station..my room was on the 5th floor and unfortunately there is no elevator so yeah, the struggle is real haha..they provide free indoor slippers, linens, shampoo and body soap..towels are for rent at 100yen for your entire stay..i had a comfortable stay, would return here for my next kyoto trip.
Clean and good staff”
These rooms ,bed kitchen are super clean. Host admin is good in English and have a service mind~ This hotel's location is not far away from department store and bus terminal & train station. I don't like only bathrooms and toilets. It is not enough for all guests.
Ok for me but may not be suitable for others”
I personally loved the hostel and it's amenities. But I wouldn't recommend it to others. Not by the hostel's fault though.. it's just that some may find its inconvenient to have bathrooms only on 2nd and 3rd floor, especially when you're staying at 5th floor like me (Because I want the single room instead of dorm). Room have slight musty smell too. Oh and there are no elevators. Combined that with the steep stairs? It's disaster waiting to happen when you're carrying 26" luggage. Other than that, toilet and shower was modern and kitchen amenities were good too. Luggage storage is also convenient when you have to catch late flight after checking out. WiFi was strong too. The staffs were the highlight of the stay. Kind+friendly! Thanx!!
Wonderful Hostel ”
The staff here was very friendly and it made the stay very comforting. We stayed for one night and it was a great budget stay. But remember that there is no elevator! We knew this but thought we could tough it out with a lot of luggage to the top floor...many regrets. Dont be like us. haha.
Highly recommended ”
Had an awesome 7 nights stay in this hostel. The beds are comfortable, AC works well, staff is very friendly and helpful, close to the station and convenience stores. Also, the hostel has a very good social vibe due to the common area and it's really convenient to cook/store food. The only drawback is that there are no bars nearby so if you want to go for a night out, you have to spend time and money on going cliser to Gion corner.
Very friendly staff and they do have some activities each week. The only not-too-good point is that there is no elevator, so do ensure that you can carry your own luggage up the stairs!
Very good choice for backpackers :)”
Pantry has a lot of necessities to offer for a kitchen.
Sehr zu empfehlen. Top Hostel”
It was a very good Hostel and I had 2 very good nights. Staff is very friendly and helpful even if I had some problems with my phone:-). Everything is clean and there is a lot of space. I’ll come back and recommend this place. Thanks a lot.
Everything is up to standard”
Staff speaks very good English and is helpful. Bed is quite large for one person. No lift and the staircase+corridor is a bit small but no drama. Facilities are very clean and up to standard. 10mins walk from Kyoto Station.
cool japanese style, warm enough in autumn weather”
in this hostel we choose japanese syle with futon because we want a new experience. our room is in the 5th floor by stairs. the hostel know our struggles with stairs so they make cute sign on the stair floor to encourage us to the 5th floor. and when we finally arrive there, we're so happy with our room. the toilet is in the same floor but the bathroom in the 3rd and 2nd floor. the room is warm enough so it is very comfortable for us against the autumn weather :) we would like to come again next time we go to Kyoto
very nice hostel with beautiful living room”
the hostel is very nice, with very kind staff and good furnitures. I'd just prefer a bigger sink on each floor and curtains on room windows too. the most beautiful thing in this hostel is the living room, which is big and bright, with a well-equipped kitchen, big tables and comfortable sofa! never seen such a beatiful common room in hostel before! thanks to the staff for all the useful information (included public bath and Takayama).
The hostel is around 8-9 minutes from the JR Kyoto station and so it was really easy to find. (When you exit the station you make a left, cross the street and make a right, and walk down the block until you get to the hostel.) The private room was the perfect size for us. We were on the fourth floor and there were no stairs but once we got our bags upstairs it was fine. Beds were a bit creaky and I was afraid they would break. Our room was in a small alcove and so even though there was a shared bathroom, it felt like we had a private bathroom. Walls are a bit thin so we could hear the other rooms when they got up really early.
