Fabulous (if somewhat pricey stay)”

Road signage could have been a bit better and the off track approach needs driving with care. Once there, the place is magic. Beautiful surroundings and excellent staff. We booked room only and then added extras. The weather wasn’t brilliant so it turned out to be a wise decision. Game drive was eventful with the truck skidding off into a stream but we rescued fairly quickly (before the wild life found us!). The game drives are organised so you only see two if the big five in the morning and two in the afternoon which is slightly disingenuous as they aren’t cheap! Even so, the overall experience was great and they are working to improve the facilities with a spa and gym recently added.

What a stunning & beautifully designed place this is! We stayed in a luxury tent! Everything, absolutely everyhting is very well thought through! the dining / breakfast atmosphere, the amenities of the luxury tent included a bed heating! The tent was designed like in an Out of Africa movie! It was our first game drive and we loved it. People who saw the Kruger before where disappointed but we really thought it was a very good beginners experience. The smaller animals like impalas where everywhere on the ground. I will definitely come back one day! The staff went over backwards. Really kind and with the heart on the right place. One of my best travel lifetime experiences every.

Very nice place for holiday in the bush but not good for bird and animal photographers as you are put on to game vehicles with little children and general public.

Bad management”

At first I thank the resort manager for helping me a lot. I also thank all the staff. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and they tried to help me in every way, but I give the management zero because they do not treat people with racism. I paid 1400 rand because I had two children. He stayed only two weeks ago and did not pay one rand, and I have proved more than once that the booking site gives the same price with a child or not, but they ignore me, I advise everyone not to live in this resort because of poor management and do not respect the guest

Not too well maintained f.i. pool looks dirty and run down, huge stains on furniture in the room, dirty tables outside on terrace during welcome drink, it was not a warm welcome but a very impersonal standard riddle. Broken doors in gents toilet in the restaurant, etc. This should not be at a location of this price level. We have seen far better in ZA. Location by itself and environment is very nice.

Very nice and professional staff at game drives and outside activities. Especially Rico has a huge knowledge and is able to give the visitors a real insight in wildlife. There are som new waiters who are not really professional and the excuse I’m new here does not count if you have the feeling that he doesn’t take the job seriously. Room mates are excellent and the cleanliness is outstanding. It is a place to come back and to promote to friends.

Bad experience never to be repeated!”

Our 40 year wedding anniversary celebration turned sour. Water in the accommodation was not palatable and had a strange taste. No free water was supplied for drinking purposes! The lodge was doing alterations and workers were along the pathways doing VERY NOISY JOBS WITH ANGLE GRINDERS AND HEAVY MACHINERY WORKING AROUND THE TENTS. Being woken up in the morning by angle grinders and a loader is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! The manager tried to pacify us with Spa vouchers which was worthless as we were going on a game drive leaving early the following morning. Lighting in the chalet at the toilet was also nonexistant. The temperature in the tent was extremely cold and the airconditioner not effective. We had a pleasing game drive with Jade, he was very knowledgable,interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed his company.

Good but was expecting more”

We had gone to 2 private safari's on our trip (Buffelsdrift and Botlierskop) and unfortunately this one fell short on a few occasions. Upon our arrival, you could tell the staff took great care to make you feel at home, however, we were given so much wrong information which was very frustrating and spent a lot of time having to speak to the manager to get the right information. We really didn't feel the staff were trained up properly and were constantly being told "I don't know" on quite simple questions (cost of breakfast). Aside from this the grounds are beautiful and the experience is really lovely. We were in one of the Manor House rooms down the bottom on the park. The room was OK, but we really enjoyed the infinity pool on the plains where zebra and wildebeest were constantly moving around. The horseback safari was great, we went right up to the rhino's which was slightly nerve wracking but really special. The spa I would say to avoid - quite dirty and basic.

An unexpected delight”

This was not part of our itinerary and we came across it unintentionally. Our stay was fabulous. The game drive with Rico was exceptional. The all inclusive menu in the evening we found although delicious too much, especially without the facility to have a goo walk afterwards. Despite this we loved our stay.

We enjoyed our stay here, staff welcome you on arrival and are very helpful in getting you settled in. The accommodation is very good, the luxury tents are well appointed with many extras you wouldnt expect. The game drive is also very good, we saw 4 of the big 5 as well as many other animals within 3 hours. Highly recommended.

Fabulous, Intimate Experience”

We were impressed from the moment we pulled up to Botlierskop. Kind, attentive workers greeted us and welcomed us with sparkling wine while they transported our luggage to our luxury tent. Excursions were offered (we had already booked ours), and then we were escorted to our room via golf cart. Note for children: hang on as the short drive is sometimes steep. Our morning drive was great, and we just called the front desk for a ride over to meet our group. Loved the outdoor shower (keep your eyes peeled for brightly colored frogs or other wild life that you may spot), and the oversized tub. We heard monkeys at night and woke up to giraffes eating fairly close to our room. Our morning drive was great, and we just called the front desk for a ride over to meet our group. Our game drive guide, Marco, did a wonderful job and answered any question that was thrown at him. Our luggage was already packed in our car for us by the time we returned from the game drive and check-out was a breeze! We enjoyed a wonderful buffet dinner (they reserve your table under your room number unless you notify them otherwise). Buffet including a soup, appetizer, palette cleanser, salad bar, variety of meats including crocodile, eland, beef, kudu.

A very nice time with plenty of animals to biew quite close. The game drive was very enjoyable. Buffet dinner and breakfast was excellent. Biggest issuewas no wi-fi in any room, only main lobby - not available on the patio.

A super relaxing experience!”

We celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary. The surroundings was beautiful and we enjoyed the openness and proximity to the wild animals. We really felt the owners vision for the reserve in the overall attention to detail. We were made to feel welcome and the attentiveness of the staff was wonderful. The food and SPA was outstanding. I would however recommend that the laundry area be move away from the guest area of the Manor House as the noise levels can be disruptive especially lying on the deck at the pool area.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is beautiful and our Executive tent was a wow! You are very close to nature and some people may prefer not to be. The Game Drive was very good and we saw all of the big animals at the reserve.

We loved staying here, beautifully designed reserve. The food was amazing and the cocktails. We had a great time on the game drives. The pools could do with a good clean though.
