Most magical night of our journey”
This hotel is off the hook. Very atypical! You must try it
The hotel went through rough times but kept its ambiance. I hope they'll recover soon. ”
For those who prefer remote locations, this is the place to be. The final 2 km to this hotel are a bit rough over a badly maintained access road. The glory of Brook Boutique in the past is clearly visible, and although the place has become a bit of a run down and abandoned feel to it, that's also its charm and it's more than made up by the committed staff. Very conveniently located for a day trip to either Sigiriya or Yapahuva, and within walking distance of the Na Uyana Monastery, a very interesting place to visit.
Lovely place ”
Just AWESOME place with great staff if you are looking for a escape this is the place.
wifi was not working, manager was rude
Hard to get to, but very nice”
Pros: Super friendly staff, amazing property, fantastic rooms, beautiful pool with a view, close to nature - we loved this place and thought 2 nights were too short. Cons: You have to travel down a really really long dirt road which takes a long time and is quite uncomfortable - so to get there and back to the road you definitely need a driver. Unfortunately, they don't offer - as very common everywhere else - free driver accommodation. Calculate an extra 1500 Rs (10 Euros) per night for your driver (which we recommend you cover as the wages are so low that this would eat up almost all of it). There is no Wifi signal in the hotel. As there is nothing around, be prepared to eat in the hotel where the food is good, but a little pricy - rice and curry is 1350 Rs here (9 Euros), but enjoyable.
Magnificent getaway ”
One night stay ”
Pros - staff service were very nice. Breakfast was good and nasi goreng was yummy. Cons - too far in. Was unable to find the place. No lights.
Totally neglected and no management. A very nice place ruined”
No wifi in room, poor and sporadic in reception. Our rooms Jacuzzi leaked all over our garden. Toilette did not flush. Gap in door frames let in insects. No wine, food all freezer meals bar 2 things, pool unkempt, cushions piled high on loungers, showers filthy. Owner visits sporadically and does not obviously care
Amazing stay in this lush resort!”
We stayed for 3 nights. The pretty drive uphill is worth the bumpy ride! The room and bathroom are nice and clean, we didn't have a private villa. The pool uphill had an amazing view over the mountain and the tropical forest, it was super relaxing. We did some day trips to Sigiriya and Dambulla, but in the surroundings of the resort is a lot more to see! The staff was ever so helpfull, the most of the staff did not speak englisch very well... For a beautifull stay in a relaxing atmosphere, amazing surroundings and good food you should go to Brook!
Enjoyed taking two nights to chill out and enjoy the peace and beauty of the Brook Boutique. Very relaxing, enjoyed the meals, service and the lovely big room.
Solitude to the max”
If one is looking for a place to layback, relax and recharge the batteries, this is the place for you. We broke our trip around Sri Lanka here chilling out and having two nights of relaxation. Room was huge, loved the window alcove, where I spent many hours reading and looking out on the landscaped grounds, watching the bird life, even a deer. Whilst we were there never saw another guest and felt that we had the hotel to ourselves. Would advise having at least two nights as it is quite a drive to the Brook Boutique.
Only stayed for one night... but worth a two/three day visit. So didn't really see what was on offer in the main hotel. We had a chalet with private garden and outside jacuzzi. Very well designed, comfortable, and no expense spared. Some great touches like the 'pillow menu' and dvd collection. Breakfast was excellent and everything was made fresh for our table. Will certainly be back !!
Beautiful spot in the hills”
Fantastic but short stay. Used the spot as a stop over night to take in a visit of Sigiriya Rock, which worked perfectly for us. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Views from the main pool are spectacular and the care taken in the design of the whole resort is exceptional. The only challenge is the road up to the hotel, which makes it a better place to hide away than to uses as a place to being nipping back and forth from everyday. Would be tricky after any rain, but certainly worth the extra effort when you arrive at the resort! Great surprise of a hotel
Wonderfull ! A true boutique hotel”
High end hotels can deliver the magic of making you feel catered for in a personal way but maintaining professionalism. So can they in Brook Boutique. Food is amazing and beautifull, and if you ask for spicy, there is no catering for weak tongues, as it should be for those of us who enjoy authentic Sri Lankan food. Rooms are good and very clean. Pool is Amazing with a wiev over the mountains. If you go, do yourself the favor taking the grand tour of the estate and the beautiful Budhist monastry nearby. My best to the staff. Wonderfull!!!
Beautiful place off the beaten track”
We stayed for Christmas and could not have chosen a better location. The place is in the middle of a banana plantation with nature all around and beautiful views, especially from the pool. The couple running the place is amazing and helpful with whatever you need (route planning, excursions on the estate or target shooting ....). It takes some time to get there, but once you are there you won't regret it. Definitely a place to stay for a longer period.
Not worth the time spent to get to the property”
This property is way out in the jungle. It is far from the main road. It takes an hour to reach there from the main road and the roads are treacherous. It is not worth the rating it has got. If you just want a hotel room and stay there and read a book then it is OK. If you want to travel it is not worth staying here. Due to its location there are a lot of bugs there also. The staff is helpful.
A oasis of solitude”
We stayed back in August, 2014. We arrived from Trinco.... enroute to Negombo to catch our flight back home. We wanted to stop in Dambulla, to visit the famous Dambulla Caves. Upon our arrival, we learned that the caves were close to 1.5 hours away and visiting them would be impossible. Resigned that we were not seeing the caves this trip to Sri Lanka, we settled in for a night, that proved to be an oasis of peace and solitude. From the moment we stepped onto the property..... we were in awe. The grounds, the modern style of the buildings, the amazing hill-top pool looking out toward coconut plantations; all were so very unexpected. We had stumbled upon a hotel, like non-other. The owners made us feel welcome and at home and sat and chatted with us upon arrival. The hotel managers (a husband and wife team) made our stay a delight. Local food was prepared with perfection .....with breakfast being our favourite ;-) The rooms were beautifully furnished and the grounds were like a botanical garden. Sadly, we could only stay one night yet it was a night, we will not soon forget. If you are looking for a retreat for a few days, to rest your tired soul and indulge in the pleasures of rest for the soul, then Brook Boutique is the oasis for you. We will most certainly return..... and for more than one night next time. Thanks to the staff for such a memorable stay.
Elegant, Secluded and Restful ”
We very much enjoyed our stay at Brook Boutique. I must admit initially I did wonder just where we were going, because it is definitely located "off the beaten track" so to speak. On arrival, however, I soon realized what a special place we had found. The main building is quite stunning visually as well as being extremely functional with its gracious reception area, both open area and air conditioned dining spaces, secluded bar, comfortable television room and separate reading space. There are many up to date magazines and publications for those inclined to peruse them, but there are also other activities to participate in including a spa, a spectacular swimming pool, and a putting green. As this is a working fruit plantation it was quite wonderful taking a walking tour with one of the owners and learning about the various aspects of same. We also accompanied him on a visit to a secluded monastery, devoid of all tourists but us! Quite enchanting. Great staff I highly recommend Brook Boutique.
