Great location but doesn't live up to DoubleTree standards in terms of cleanliness and facilities. However, a few staff members were notably amazing!
Loved our stay!”
There were four of us visiting NYC for 5 nights. We happened upon a great rate at this Doubletree. They happily accommodated our request for adjacent rooms with a city view (Empire State bldg view from our bed!). We loved the central location and 29th Street is very quiet!). Yes, the rooms are rather small but that's NYC folks, .unless you get into the $300 night range. Room was very clean. Staff was awesome.
Very dusty but good location”
The location was great. we were close to shopping and right by Madison square garden. BUT.....my friend was complaining about a stuffy nose the whole time we were there and we didn't know until our second night the reason. Above the bed there was caked up pieces of dust, the room had never been dusted for years apparently. Also it was very tiny we had two double beds. Shower was clean though. One weird thing is the front desk called to ask if we wanted house keeping to clean the room, which is shocking because they normally do automatically if no do not disturb sign is available. Staff was very pleasant ! gave us cookies and water bottles on our arrival. lobby had water available at all times and also gave us more bottles of water free of charge on day 2. The front desk staff stored our luggage free of charge upon check out since our mega bus did not come until later that evening. We were able to go to beauty con without carrying luggage around. Everyone was nice.
Very small, Spartan rooms”
There are zero frills in the tiny matchbox rooms. There’s a space for a mini fridge but it’s just that...a space. There’s an odd sized ironing. The AC is lacking (the external temp was never over 80). The iconic DoubleTree cookies were burnt! To make matters worse the lobby was an active construction zone and the area in front of the hotel looked like a complete dump. There were literally huge rubbish bins and loose, random outdoor furniture pieces that weren’t never actually arranged and made to look inviting. I think I got a “just ok” deal but the plaque in the room listed the maximum nightly price as $750! Anyone paying that amount is paying at least $500 too much even in New York City. If you just need a crash pad, then this will be perfect for you because of the location being near Madison Square Garden and a couple train stops otherwise, keep looking.
I had a really bad experience with this hotel - from intrusive housekeeping who arrived at 8:30am and proceeded to hammer on my door until I answered then insisted on coming in to my room to make a phone call even though I was still in my pyjamas. The housekeeper was actually commenting on the state of my room: “very clean, very clean,” she said. Then she didn’t come back after that so I didn’t get clean towels that day. The general state of cleaning was poor. It’s NYC, I get that the room will be small, but it was the lack of surface space to put my stuff that was a problem - and the bathroom was worse. I had to keep my stuff in my suitcase. Then the plug in the bath didn’t work so I spent ages trying to run a bath. The heater was extremely old and very noisy - even though it was bitterly cold I had to turn it off as no way could I sleep with that noise. The "fitness center" was hidden in a col basement you had to access via a special door. The location was central.
Small room but Ok”
Nice Hotel but the room too small not like other doubletree in other state
Good hotel ”
Every thing was good But the hotel only have 2 elevators, and during our stay 1 of the lifts broke down but the staff took care of us
Slow check in”
The hotel was great but it took 30 minutes to check in.
Room was not very clean”
Good location , not very clean , staff busy and would not make eye contact, constant mechanical noise next or near my room, mediocre experience for that price
Exceeded my expectations”
Definitely exceeded my expectations. Clean, comfortable rooms, well taken care of. And great location!
can be better”
the stay was ok. Didn't allow us to extend to 3pm even I told them our flight is at 8pm. The chambermaid made a lots of noise while we were still sleeping in the morning, banging on our neighbour door calling out for room cleaning. A door bell should install to prevent such issues. Only 2 small lifts and when it is fully booked, have to wait for a few rounds to go up to the room.
Great Place to Stay in Chelsea area”
Our stay at the Doubletree was excellent. When we arrived in our oversized van in NYC (already a hectic situation), the Doubletree attendant provided us with 1:1 assistance for over 30 minutes to help us find a legal place to park both for that night and the next day. He went well beyond the call of duty. They gave us a free upgrade when we arrived to a room with a view and were very helpful storing our luggage when we checked out. The room was smaller than a suburban hotel but more than adequate and very comfortable.
Nice location. Staff is friendly, easy walking to Times Square.
i love Double tree hotel's cookies, it was amazing. location is very good for traveler. easy to walk 7th ave. and 5th ave.
It was pleasant. Staff were courteous. It's near Penn Station.
Good place to stay!”
