Best around Railay”
If you're planning to stay around Railay Tonsai beach is the best place. You have 40min beautiful hike to Railay or you Can take a boat/kayak. At the end of the day you can relax in bar or restaurant. Our favourite were Viking Bar and Pyramid restaurant. Resort is nice and clean with great pool. Breakfast was very good.
Not as expected”
Defintily not a resort, it is just a hotel with pool. Cleanless was very disappointing, they dont change your teacups when dirty. Also killed two bugs inside the room. The pool has so many chemicals that you cannot open your eyes under water. When we arrived, the room was full of hair in the bathroom, we even found a CONTACT LENT in the sink. Also air conditioning was not working, they changed our room because of that, new room was a LITTLE better. Staff was friendly.
Only resort on Tonsai!”
First if you decide to go to Tonsai and you are not a climber then it is the only place to stay. This resort have are conditioned from 5pm To 10 am, which is the best in the area. The premise is clean, the pool is not well balanced must be because of the heat. It is quite hot there but overall it is a nice place. Food is not cheap at the resort. As this island is kind of secluded everything is more expensive.
Only get there by boat”
You need a boat to get there, if you arrive from a tour too late, you dont have boat to get there. You will lost the money you paid at the booking and will have to find another place, like happened to me.
Really great place to say. And the only hotel in tonsai with a swimming pool . Beware of the tonsai tummy ... it is real
It was ok”
For the money we paid to stay there I found that the staff wasn’t that friendly and it was not clean. And they do not let you know that before you book there is no power on that part of the island from 10am-5pm. So you can’t shower or go to the bathroom. I went in thinking this was a “resort” it was far from a resort. I would suggest staying on Railey and then walking over through the beach path as there is good rock climbing from basecamp there and cheaper eats (momma’s chicken).
value for money!”
Over all, it was not bad. The rooms filled with terrible smell when the a/c was turned on, so we had the doors open when the a/c was on in the evenings. The pool was awesome but too much acid in the pool (to keep them clean I guess) so all 3 kids got pretty bad skin irritations. The staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, so we recommend Dream Valley to family travelers.
Only flashpacker and higher travellers budget on Tonsay”
Really nice with awesome pool. Easily accessible on close to everything in the tiny village on Tonsay. 5 min walk to the beach. Be careful of insects if you have the cheap bungalows on the ground. Also pretty noisy at night and some special events may occur: monkeys jumping on the bungalow at 6am, coconut falling on the roof during the night, ... Be aware also of electricity shortage between 10am and 5pm. We have not tried the breakfast as it costs 220 baht/pax (6EUR) which is a lot for the area. Recommanded place anyway!
Perfect for a backpacker to rejuvenate”
Traveling in low season this place had some really great deals and was perfect for me coming from 2 months of hostel stays and a lot of activities. Really nice pool area and a friendly receptionist. Comfy bed! I extended my stay for a couple of nights. Anything that gives it a minus is the loud AC.
Very dirty hotel without electricity ”
Hotel has beautiful territory All other was bad: 1) dirtiest rooms I have ever lived 2) no electricity, no a/c, no hot water from 10:00 untill 17:00 3) dirty pool 4) very bad breakfast 5) bad beach near the hotel 6) to the normal beach you need climbd by dangerous road more than 10 minutes 7) dirty bad linnens and towels, I have to use towels which bring from home
Nice location but overpriced for quite a run down place”
The overall feel of the hotel is nice but it needs some TLC, tiles missing from the pool, half the sun beds are broken etc. We paid more to have the ‘superior bungalow’ to treat ourselves but had to spend the last two nights in a regular concrete room which was cooler, cleaner and better built. The bungalow had big gaps in places where the walls didn’t meet the ceiling and floor and a huge gap under the door. This resulted in being woken up by huge cockroaches landing on us most nights, one night it happened 4 times, catching the things, throwing them out only for it to happen again an hour later, hence the request to move. The cheaper room was much nicer but we weren’t given a refund for the difference so left feeling a bit ripped off. If you do choose to stay, don’t pay extra to have breakfast included, it’s not very nice and there’s some lovely cafes along the strip that do great food and real coffee.
Fun in the sun”
Nice Clean Hotel and big rooms, Lovely pool, good breakfast, staff very friendly , peace and quite with the busy area just around the corner
Best place in Tonsai”
The only reason I gave it 5 stars coz there is no 6 stars! The place is highly worth it for the little amount of money you paid for. We got the room right by the pool and it was so cheap. Down point could be electricity that doesn't run all day but off during daytime from 10-17 which is ok coz you're out and about anyway. I believe other properties do the same. Others than that, I totally love the place. Staff were very nice and helpful. We will definitely come back next time.
The best resort of our entire vacation, and one of the cheapst”
The location is rad, not super close to the beach but right in the middle of an awesome rock climbing community. Theres monkeys just off the resort, and not the scary mean monkeys (though they are around.) These monkeys are a dark gray with with features on their face. They stay our of your way and dont steal your stuff. They even had little red babies on their chest. We also went down and rented kayaks for under $10 for 4 hours. That was AWESOME. Head out to some of the local islands and find some amazing beaches. Overall extremely happy with our stay, and only bummed that we didnt book it for longer.
First time visitor”
It was our first time in Tonsai , and it was definitley the nicest place to stay there. As the beach is quite a walk from most of the accomodation it was great to have the lovely pool. The rooms were good and the staff were very helpful. Would stay there again.
READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING!!! Electric is off between 10am-5pm. You can only leave by boat!”
While the front desk staff was wonderful and attempted to be accommodating... This property should not be listed as a resort or receive more than 2 1/2 to 3 stars as a hotel. It’s a lovely setting. However, they only clean your room every 2nd day, their towels and linen and not fresh and are soiled. There is no ice available afer approximately 6-7pm. Also, the generator which powers the property surges and makes terrible noises all night. Your description of this property is VERY misleading to say the least. This was my 1st (and probably last) time using Agoda. I will stick with my other outlets. We travel basically on a monthly basis for business or pleasure and this was unacceptable to encounter. I suggest you preview the properties you choose to represent.... Because with THIS one you obviously did not!
Expansive for what it is”
Tonsai Beach is not Easy to access (jungle or boat). Beach is At 1km because if the big wall (navet from the hôtel) don t expert à View from the Beach. Staff difficult to understand. The bathroom is not clean.
Hotel room was lovely in the superior double. Unfortunately the staff failed to mention that we had breakfast included in the price so we spent the first week and half paying for breakfast elsewhere as they wanted an additional 190 baht each if we paid for breakfast at reception. I paid for a standard bungalow for extra stay for an additional 5 nights. they failed to mention again that breakfast was included. I checked my booking again and found that for the whole time we were there, breakfast was included so I was not happy that I had spent an extra 300-400baht each elsewhere every morning. I did ask the reception about this as I was not pleased. They admitted they had made a mistake and moved us from the standard bungalow into a superior again. I think this was a blessing in disguise, as the breakfast was awful in the hotel. Fortunately the accommodation was very good so that made up for it. We continued to pay for breakfast elsewhere. I would definitely recommend staying in Tonsai.
