Stayed with my Granddaughter to visit Iceland for the 1st time; hotel was very accommodating in assisting our touring. Close to the centre, food was good and nice new over the city; even saw the Northern Lights from the rooms window.
Great value hotel”
Hotels in Reykjavik are notoriously difficult expensive, especially if you're staying in the city center. We found this hotel and was very reasonably priced. The reviews were great so we booked it on our whole stay in Iceland. We were really glad to make that choice. Room was clean, decent size and comfortable. Breakfast was pretty good. Staff OK. Overall, good stay and highly recommended ..
Good hotel, very reasonable price”
Hotels in Reykjavik are very pricey, the price we paid for this hotel was very reasonable to be in the city center in one of the world's priciest cities. Breakfast was great, service was really good too. Our room was very clean, adequately equipped, and of good size. We stayed 4 nights and we were very satisfied with our stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel for visitors to this city ...
Great new hotel ”
Not the cheapest hotel, but for the money you get a central hotel with value for money, compared to even pricier hotels near by. All brand new hotel and nice looking rooms. Nice breakfast buffet and ok staff, who does what the are there to do; kind and informative. Recommended.
This is a new, large hotel. I was upgraded to a suite on the 16th floor. The fittings and appointments in the room are perhaps the best in Reykjavík. The staff at the reception were professional. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Since this is a large hotel, I can see it being a busy place during the peak season. Which may be its only negative point if you are looking for a more intimate and less crowded setting. Since I was there early in the season I escaped the throngs.
Overall not bad”
Overall we were quite satisfied with the hotel though we were told by the staff to leave the restaurant after the breakfast hour. In other hotel we stayed, even though we passed the breakfast time, we could continue to sit there to chat.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 days. The hotel staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet; with a view of the water (Room 717). Our price included breakfast, and the options were great. Hot food, cold food, fruit, and various breads in a clean environment. The location was PERFECT. 2 blocks to food court and several Thai restaurants. Pizza Place was great for late night eating (they were open until 1am). Everything else closed at 10pm. Would definitely stay there again,.
Excellent location to all shopping, restaurants, buses. Definitely will stay again
The hotel was lovely and clean, staff were friendly and helpful and as everyone spoke great English, communication was brilliant. PROS: Central location close to see front, beds very comfy, fab breakfast, good value for money, nice and quiet too, lots of parking around the hotel. CONS: Room was a little warm but appreciate we were there in May, the underground parking was quite expensive - cheaper to park elsewhere around the hotel on the roads as it's free between 6pm and 8am. Overall, it was a lovely hotel to stay at and suited our needs perfectly. Didn't get chance to try the restaurant for dinner as were always late back in but everything we did try or use was faultless.
Clean Hotel, great central location ”
The Fosshotel Reykjavik is located very close to Reatauranuts and the town center. The room was clean, simple, with comfortable mattress, good linens, and the heated floors is a great luxury! We enjoyed our stay very much.
Nice ocean view, a bit far away to down town”
Saw aurora from the room, what a surprise! Lots of tables for breakfast, but food was clustered at a tiny area, long long queue to pick up food. Easy to walk to the water front, it took about 20-25 mins to the old harbour area
Wonderful hotel with wonderful staff”
My wife and I visited the Fosshotel on our recent visit to Iceland for our wedding anniversary. Our flight arrived late and at 1am the staff were plesent and very welcoming. I had notified the hotel of our late arrival and we were visiting for our anniversary. We were thrilled to hear our room had been upgraded for free. Also a plate of chocolates was awaiting on our arrival and a happy anniversary note from the staff. This was all organised by the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean with nice furnishings. Breakfast buffet was outstanding and offered everything from hot foods to cold meats to cereals and bread. Staff also provided us with web links for northern light hourly forecasts and weather which was extremely useful. Location, it's a 15 min walk to high street, and 3 min walk to nearest 'hop on hop off' bus stop. There's also a small supermarket 5 mins away that does milk, bread etc Special thanks to Elin and Yana for their help. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
Fosshotel went above and beyond for us on our recent trip, including upgrading our business tower room to a suite, providing us with early check-in, and sending us a plate of chocolates. The breakfast buffet each morning was wonderful, the rooms were clean, the heated floors and towel rack in the bathroom were greatly appreciated, and the views were to die for. We would certainly come back.
I stayed total 2 nights on different days. My first night receptionist is not friendly and helpful at all. We asked about Aurora activity and she is not helpful to help. The room is clean and able to open our luggages. The location is ideal and near the touristy places. The car park is limited and if you reach late you got to park very far. This is a busy hotel with high occupancy rate. We always have to wait very long to take the lift. I love the breakfast, with wide range of selections. It is not easy to find a table so either you go very early if not be the last few to go. This hotel will definitely be my choice.
Fantastic clean hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Has a great time! :-)”
Would go back anytime! They made every effort to make my 50th birthday celebration special! Upgraded room view was spectacular! Staff was always ready to greet us with a smile and help us. Thanks for making our first visit to Iceland a memorable one!
Excellent hotel! ”
Had a great time in Reykjavik without doubt, due to the excellent care and attention provided by the staff at this hotel. The hotel itself is exceptionally clean. We were upgraded to a 16th floor suite with fantastic views over the city. This is apparently the largest hotel in Iceland and indeed it was very busy. However, this in no way impacted on the services provided by the hotel. Breakfast time could be a little busy and might be better managed by an organised seating system during busier periods but was fine if done before 0730. It's location was great for exploring too. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough and would definitely make a return visit.
hotel is convenient to main shopping area. Reception staff very helpful. Rooms very clean and good choice for breakfast. You can also eat in the hotel in the evening with the choice of three restaurants and food was of a good quality and not too pricey.
Will not stay here again.”
For the price you pay, I would recommend you go somewhere with an international reputation to maintain. The lobby is more akin to a youth hostel with people and luggage everywhere and tourguides coming in shouting your name. I arrived at 230am. No porter - fine. I had someone banging on the door and interrupting my shower at 3am to demand I show them my booking again (it was their error). The following day, there was no housekeeping - not even to replace towels. I was unable to shower after a horseride, and after waiting for 2 hours and 5 phone calls I received my towels with no apology. As a result I had to cancel one of my tours. For a 4 star hotel, not having basics such as housekeeping or even towel delivery when requested multiple times is disappointing. I had corresponded with the manager - who offered 10% off my next stay. For my sanity I will not even contemplate recommending this place to my worst enemy. I would much rather stay at the Hilton - at least you know it will be 4 star.
I loved staying at Fosshotel Reykjavik! The staff were so friendly and kind. If you're looking for something in the middle of the excitement, you will have to walk a little ways, but Reykjavik is a small city, so it is worth it.
