Great hotel,excellent position”
Some reviews I read criticized the area. So glad I ignored them. Nice quiet area only a five minute walk to the main shopping centre. Also walking distance to the food market which was great. Friendly staff with complementary town car. Chocolate strawberries were a nice touch for my wife's birthday. The room was a nice design although not overly large. The included breakfast was above average. The best part of the hotel was the two-storey room with indoor pool (warm) & spa. Also the two rooftop spas were amazing To relax there at night after a long days sightseeing & watch a huge projection screen was sooo good. An added bonus was that the pool & spas were open till late at night, unlike many hotels.Highly recommended!
The staff was super friendly and helpful.. AND this started before my arrival with "welcome" email that i greatly appreciated.
Exceedingly rude staff at check-in that really soured the entire experience. ”
There was also a lack of attention to detail for the rooms itself. For example, the toilet seat was missing a screw, there was trim missing on one side of the door inside the bathroom, and stinky coffee stains on the cabinets in the kitchen. The one redeeming quality was the nice hot tubs on the roof, but I am not sure this one amenity could make up for the rude staff, and issues with the room. This is below the quality I would expect from a hotel that markets itself as a boutique hotel.
Very dirty. Maid was rude. Upon arrival there was a half-filled cocktail glass left on the countertop in the hallway of our room. That glass was still there after five days. Room furniture in need of repainting or refurbishment.
Room was great -Very comfortable. Nice touch on the Nespresso Coffee maker. Décor on Hall area was nicely done (14th floor). Staff at desk & door were very nice and polite. :) Only one small note: Shower faucet was hard to turn off.
Hotel is fairly clean and hospitable. Arrived late at night and got to our room and there was an inconvenient smell. The night management staff responded promptly and upgraded us to a much better room to make up for the inconvenience. Very well organized and will definitely come again! Thank you for the great experience to Aliona and Rob at the front desk!
Good Value Close to Everything ”
The Grand has kovely staff and common areas. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed and comfortable; clean and although older, well designed. The mattresses were not great, but everything I requested was granted. The complementary breakfast was fantastic in both variety & quality. The outdoor conservatory and patio are beautiful. Dinner at Citrus was truly excellent with a surprising and creative chef.
Exquisite spot for a friends reunion”
We had a lovely overnight with friends here at the hotel. The facilities are beautiful especially the rooftop hot tub. We soaked under the stars watching music videos on a large screen. Dining outside for our breakfast was like being in an Italian Piazza surrounded by trees and the outdoor fountain. Our upgraded suite with 2 rooms was so spacious for the 4 of us. Absolutely lovely place.
Comfy stay at nicely-located hotel”
Friendly and helpful staff; very good breakfast; public transport options are easily walkable.
Decent hotel with a nice basement pool and nice breakfast buffet”
Decent hotel on the edge of downtown Toronto. The area is a little seedy and feels unsafe at night, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. Your best best is to call an uber or lyft if you go out in the evening. We enjoyed the generous breakfast buffet and the pool in the basement was nice. Rooms are nicely furnished and we had a jacuzzi tub in ours.
We discovered bedbugs and took samples to the front desk. The Desk Manager (Nick) was horrified to see what we showed him. We had to check out to get to the airport and were told to call him back as he would "work" something out. Everytime we called back- even from the airport- he was either out or unavailable. Then a "manager", who would not identify himself, called us to say they had done a search and found nothing. WE SHOWED THE FRONT DESK, we took pictures and showed them as well- we were either lying or imagining it was the response! Everyone must have been seeing things, I guess (even the front desk!). Would never go back. We have our clothes infected and are heading to a laundromat to clean everything. WOULD NEVER STAY HERE EVEN IF FREE!
We were exceptionally pleased with the room, the service, the location and especially the price for a downtown Toronto hotel. Highly recommend and will definitely stay there again.
Charming place with very friendly staff and great service. My family enjoyed the rooftop hot tubs tremendously.
Great Hotel in Toronto ”
The hotel is very good located for walking in downtown and to the best sightseeings. Our room was perfect, everything very clean, stuff friendly and very helpfully. The roof terrace perfect for a rest after sightseeing, the restaurant on the groundfloor very nice. American breakfast buffet, all fresh and enough. Very good fitness center and the inside pool big enough for swimming, all facilities very clean and comfortable- I would stay again in this hotel
Spacious and perfect location ”
I stayed with my family for 5 days, the room was spacious with two bathrooms which was convenient. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I have no problem reaching to any distinction in no time. The one thing i don’t like the repetition of the breakfast dishes.
This was a awesome experience. The staff and correspondence before and during my stay was phenomenal! I had a few requests as it was an anniversary we were celebrating and they were able to put me in touch with amenities I was in need of(Flower petals, massage). Exceeded my expectations and we were very appreciative of the hotel going the extra step.
Tiny details could make it even better”
This is list of real minor nit picky observations - only meant to help them make the place perfect - not just fantastic! 1) The pool should be open later 2) There should be a sign on the change room door that indicates the sauna is in there. 3) The roof top hot tub is great - keep it going - but try to figure out a way to make the deck less slippery - it's a little dangerous - google "heated mat". 4) Pillows are too thick - they strain your neck 5) We booked a room for 4 people but got only two sets of slippers and robes. 6) Mens Change rooms shower taps need some work - one set did not work, the other difficult to adjust.
Great, location, friendly staff”
We enjoyed staying in this hotel even it it was overpriced. Great location at the heart of downtown Toronto. Spacious and clean rooms even if the bathroom is tiny and very close to the bed. The staff is helpful and friendly.
Always a pleasure to stay at the Grand”
We frequently stay at the Grand although the first time we booked through agoda and saved a little more than booking through the hotel directly. The hotel now charges for parking but overall it is a great place to stay and enjoy breakfast in a lovely dining room.
