Great location in Sultanahmet”
One of the best hotel locations at Sultanahmet and very near to Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and tram station. The breathtaking view at level 5 during breakfast is one of the unique features of this hotel. I will definitely come back to Spectra Hotel.
Onur was the best person ever. Thank you very very much:)”
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🌹🌹🌹 you should come and stay here. Very nice hotel...
Great location and very helpful staff”
A great location 80 meters from the Blue Mosque, in fact there is a great view of the mosque from the hotel restaurant. The food is reasonable, the rooms are nice & the staff are very helpful. In fact the staff couldn't be better, nothing was a problem for them.
It was nice to stay in the hotel. I will stay at the same hotel if I visit Istanbul next time.
Perfect location for sightseeing - walking distance from everything and lovely area for restaurants.
The staff was great and very friendly and helpful with typical needs of visitors. The breakfast was fine and with the view of the sea and St. Sophia and Blue Mosque right outside the window what more could anyone ask. You step out the door and you are in the Hippodrom and entrance to the major sites 100 yards away. Lots of good restaurants, cafes, and shops all in the same area and walking distance to great seafood restaurants on the shore, too. Perfect location and great value!
Disappointed with the room and breakfast”
Quite disappointed with the room & exactly different form what i saw from the website. The room is really small. The room is small. The breakfast need some improvement as almost everyday same menu.
Great staff , really good restaurant ”
Great stay, central to everything, rooms could use a face lift
Best location ”
It was a great hotel- walking distance to everything. Staff are really attentive and helpful. The room we booked was a triple, quite small but really didn't matter as spent barely any time in the hotel as this is such an awesome city to explore! Wifi was ok. Airport transfer is reasonably priced.
Great view of the Blue Mosque”
This is a great hotel to stay in as it's right on Sultanahmet Square, so all the main attractions are within walking distance. If you're after nightlife, you'd probably be better staying in the heart of Old Sultanahmet, where ther's a greater choice of restaurants, but we were happy to eat in the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel, where the food was good and the service friendly.
Budget hotel with good location”
Great Location, Aging Rooms”
This hotel is just a few hundred feet from the Blue Mosque and other attractions in Sultanhamet which will help you get an early start on these required sites in Istanbul. The breakfast is decent and there are great views from the dining room on a clear morning. My room (top floor) smelled of smoke from the hallway which is not uncommon in Istanbul but was annoying. I avoided the pricey restaurant downstairs in favor of the kebab places down the street or the higher rated restaurants at other hotels within walking distance. No in-room safe. In summary, you are paying for location at this hotel so you cannot be too disappointed with older rooms. There are many options in the area so if you do not mind walking a little further to the attractions, you may be able to find a better room elsewhere.
Great location but small room”
Hotel Spectra is a converted Ottoman House in the old city of Istanbul at the corner of Hippodrome Square. It is located close to the Blue Mosque, St. Sophia, Topkapi Palace and The Grand Bazaar. All rooms are quiet small. Most of the rooms have a nice view of Hippodrome square and blue Mosque.
Exceptional location and great breakfast views”
Very nice and comfortable hotel right on the edge of the Hippodrome square. You literally only had to cross the square to get to the tram and a transport link to anywehere in Istanbul, without having to climb any of the notorius hills of istanbul. We had a cosy spacious corner room on the fourth floor with excellent views on the Blue mosque. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast, all the normal goodies, very wide range and tasty. Views from the breakfast room towards Blue Mosque, AyaSofia and the sea of marmara were exceptional. Romantic atmosphere. The moment you go out of the hotel and see the Hippodrome you immediately get the feeling of space which would be impossible for many other hotels that enter from busy and narrow streets. We'll be glad to come back again anytime soon. I ran the Istanbul marathon, and what a pleasue to be within 150m from the busses that take you to the start but even better less than 50 m from the finish. So you can shower and be back at the finish to mingle, social etc within 5 minutes. We did not try it, we were on the go most of the time, but the ground floor has a restaurant now and it was quite busy most of the time, so it must have been good.
Great Location but could do better”
Reasonable, the good point about this hotel is its location. We stayed in a triple room on the 1st floor which was very tight. The bathroom was also very small. Not sure if the higher floors rooms are bigger but we didn't mind the one flight of stairs to get to our room. Breakfast - nothing to shout about. But you will get to enjoy the view of Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Bosphorus Sea (and so does many other hotels in Old City!). Walls are also thin so we could hear our neighbour opening and closing the wardrobe! Overall..it was an ok stay.
rooftop breakfast looking at blue mosque”
equipped with hair dryer, shampoo, soap, towel, toilet paper, TV. excellent turkish breakfast (Kahvalti) at rooftop balcony looking at blue mosque. early check-in allowed. bathroom was small and got messy after a shower as water leaks out thru shower screen gap to bathroom floor.
great place with great sights nearby”
great hotel with great sights. Good shopping. Very relaxed atmosphere outside. Walking distance to sights and food.
Needs to do regular checks to the rooms”
Room was always hot, but we thought it just was the way it is (no heating on). One night we started hearing water drops, which turned out to be a constant pouring from several parts of the ceiling. Water coming down was boiling hot, so something must have been defective with the pipes. We did get changed to a different room that night, but there was no apology nor anything extra to compensate for. The guy in charge even seemed upset at me being upset. A shame since the location is really nice, but wouldn't go back.
Lovely, clean, hotel”
Highly recommend this hotel for travellers without kids. The rooms are a bit smaller than what you have in Western hotels that is why it may be slightly difficult with kids. But for aduts it is perfect. The best bang for the buck in Old Town Istanbul(Sultan Ahmet). Walking distance to all the old sites. Breakfast if fresh and with many options.
The postives are the location...close to all of the main sites and to public transportaion, it was clean and they had a good breakfast buffet. That being said, the negatives are the bathroom is extremely small, the bed was extremely hard and my room was facing the street so it was a little noisy in the evening. My bathroom in room 201 also had a heavy mildew odor that permeated the room, so I kept the door closed and asked the front desk to have the room sprayed with bleech. The front desk personnel were nice but not always very helpful. They gave us some wrong information for some of the sites that we wanted to visit which resulted in our spending an extra $25 in taxi fares.
