Very pleasant stay but disappointing pool facilities”
I stayed here with my sister for her birthday and the hotel went above and beyond and decorated the room with roses, chocolates, balloons and a card - such a lovely surprise beside the towel swan upon arrival! The hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a great breakfast selection and the staff were all very friendly. The only downside was the pool facilities. The swimming pool was luke warm and all one length - too deep for even a girl of 5ft 9 to stand. This made it very difficult to relax when you have to doggy paddle for the entirety of the swim. The steam room wasn't very hot and the jacuzzi (which is ridiculously tiny) was out of order. Overall a lovely stay if you want good service and the ideal location, but not if you want a spa weekend.
The hotel is situated strategically in the heart if Birmingham city with close proximity to the council house and public library. There is a street with many restaurants and shops nearby. The train station is within 6-8minutes walking tine and provides easy access to city peripheral. The property is clean with sheets crisps and whites that lives up to its 5-star mark. Overall, i woukd rate the experience awesome !!!
Good relaxing stay at Birmingham ”
The hotel was situated atop high ground with paronomic view of the city center. The room was clean and comfortable and the bed was awesome. Amenities were great, shops were nearby with easy access to eateries. Walking distance to train station is manageable, good 6-8 mins walk to nearest station. Overall experience, excellent
Staff in general were very good but there was a lack of breakfast staff serving tables.
Such a lovely experience ”
It was my first visit to Birmingham, and staying at the Hyatt made it worth while. The staff were very lovely and helpful, and the room was quite a good size especially as we had 2 toddlers who needed to run around. The breakfast was very lovely with all dietary needs well catered. I was happy I booked the spa before I came as they get full up really quickly. And what a great service. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas 🎄, and Joshua our bar tender made the most amazing cocktails 🍹. The downside was the construction happening around the hotel. But the location was great as it was close to the museums, theatres, and walking distance to the station and shops. Overall a very lovely first time experience. We will definitely be coming back.
Great hotel and the perfect location especially if you are attending the ICC. The breakfast was excellent as was the service. I can definitely recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel, Fab location for shows”
Lovely hotel, great location, food and drink quite expensive, but usual for Hotels. Lovely Spa and pool area.
Splendid hotel - but the air conditioning system is noisy and you are constantly woken out of a night's sleep by it constantly turning itself on and off. And I'm a heavy sleeper!
Nice hotel and good location”
I Wil stay here next time.. good location and comfortable
Manager helpful and obliging”
I recommend this Hotel for business travellers
Pet friendly hotel with excellent customer service”
Excellent service hotel that allows pet. Boys at entrance were excellent, reception was outstanding, housekeeping are doing well too. Didn't like the executive breakfast floor where I don't see hot breakfast there and no one serve. I went down to lobby breakfast, day1 this white lady just sat me and didn't bother to ask coffee or tea which i believe is a norm. I went to ask her whether they have hot cholocate but she told me to ask other staffs. Hence I thought maybe that's a practise in UK. Day2 I went to lobby for breakfast again, a black lady sat me and asked what I would like, I said hot chocolate and she arranged it. So she was great. So maybe hotel management should do something about it.
Comfortable, clean with great views”
Friendly staff, good location and comfortable. The suite was ideal for me to work and relax. My only criticism is the food. The Caesar salad was smothered in greasy dressing which spoiled it. Other than that it was a great place to stay.
Attentive to families”
We were there to be with my youngest brother on his graduation from the University of Birmingham. The staff was very attentive as one lady noticed that i was getting quite frazzled trying to handle my then 1 year old daughter (whom was bouncing off the sofas and running amok squealing everywhere). She went up to my girl and handed her an activity book with some colour pencils, which interested her enough to quiet down. This was helpful to a first time mum like myself!
Good stay, let down by staff”
The hotel, facilities, location are all great. It's a good 4* hotel, has some dated decor but you don't mind it as it fits with the hotel well. The views of the city from the 20th floor are brilliant too. The major let down was the staff. Front desk and housekeeping. We stayed for 2 nights, the housekeeping didn't change the bedsheets, or the complimentary water, tea and glasses were not even touched, still there from when we used them the first night. When we saw this we didn't really mind, we phoned front desk about having this sorted, they informed us it will be done. On our way out to spend the day outside the hotel, we just gently reminded front desk again and we were reassured it would be sorted. We returned back to the hotel approximately 8 hours later, there was no change. We asked front desk again to have this sorted, which for is tea addicts was now becoming a problem!, again this time the front desk apologised and said it will be sorted, we went out for an evening meal. When we returned again- no change. When we put it a bit firmly to front desk this time, the problem was sorted in 2 minutes. It was a real let down as he enjoyed our stay at the hotel but having to tell staff 4/5 times to do a simple task was a big disappointment. I would recommend staying here, it's probably the best hotel in Birmingham, however, a bit of a let down by certain individual staff. There is room for parking for a charge of £9.30 for 24 hours, but it is small, there is a 24 hour pay and display literally 30 second walk from the hotel that charges £6 for 24 hours.
The waiters heard us sing happy birthday to my son and discreetly enquired whose birthday we were celebrating - they then bought a slice of cheese cake with a candle on it and a glass of champagne cocktail - super service all night.
Excellent. We had been able to book at a reduced rate due to an offer. We would probably not have booked at the full price as it is more than we usually pay for one night bed and breakfast. However, our stay was extremely comfortable and the staff were very efficient and helpful. Just what we needed.
Good location but rude staff”
The location is the best thing for this hotel. It is just closed to the shopping area. The room is fine, normal, nothing fancy. The bed is comfortable. But the valet parking staffs are hopeless. The reception said the valet parking staff will park the car. So we went there and the valet parking staff said we have to park it by ourselves and it will be charged. But i said on the hotel's web site, you have valet parking. The staff says oh! But we don't do that. If you take the car there, better check before. I feel disappointed about this service and will not stay here again.
