We stayed here over twenty years ago, last in 2024, and then just last week. It's a great hotel, in a better location than the other two big hotels on Moorea and, in our opinion, more attractive. The bungalows are very appealing, the grounds wonderful. Importantly, when you stay at a fancy hotel, for more than one or two nights, the staff are a big factor. They can make or break the stay. Here at Manava the staff are very good. Special call out for the baggage porters with their friendly attitude and smiles. Watch for the wonderful sunsets - after the sun has actually set. Their Friday night BBQ buffet was very good. Also the food at the snack/restaurant just next door is good at a fair price. Recommend taking a rental car over on the Aremiti ferry. Would definitely stay here again when in Moorea.

Here’s a natural, balanced hotel review you could post: ⸻ The staff at this hotel were absolutely amazing, friendly, and always ready to help. Everything was spotless, from the rooms to the common areas, which made the stay really comfortable. The only downside was the sea. The water wasn’t very clear, and the beach is quite shallow, so it’s hard to swim properly. You also need to be careful because you can easily scratch yourself on the coral. Overall, a great place to stay if you value service and cleanliness more than swimming conditions.
We loved our stay here. We located with many restaurants nearby. The staff was great and the breakfast buffet was excellent. We had a garden bungalow and it was large and well appointed. Book early!
Grossly overpriced. The hotel is directly off the main road and you can hear the traffic. Also have a lot of construction going on. The room was very beat up and old. Ants everywhere. I also found the manager. Tamaru a bit in over his head, and didn’t really seem to know what he was doing. I ran into a honeymoon couple who was not happy as well. Pros: the hamburger was good. Cons: management is lost, in desperate need of a makeover, it’s really a three star hotel at best, the beach is obscured by the overwater bungalows. So if you were at the beach, staring at the back of somebody else’s hut. There’s no store for snacks or candy. When I asked for Coca-Cola, they suggested I walk 10 minutes down the road to a store. Not what I expect for my five star hotel.

Terrific premium bungalow! We would stay again in a heartbeat! The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The only feedback we would share is for them to reconsider their stance on no food or drink service while you’re at the pool. We weren’t able to order any snacks, drinks, appetizers, or a meal while we were at the pool. But yet we could go and sit at one of their tables at the restaurant. We wanted to relax and eat at our leisure not be tired down to a restaurant table. However, if you did want a drink you needed to go to the bar yourself and order it. If they ran out of the plastic cups (which happened) they would put the drinks in a paper cup. Not good because of the sun and ice melt the cup would get soft. For a $20-25/drink my expectation is different. p

Enjoyed my stay at the Manava Resort. Location is good with a beach front snack shop and a 7 minute walk to the nearest little town.
We kicked off our two week island hopping at this hotel. We stayed in a garden view king. We loved this hotel. It was in an amazing location and easily walkable to restaurants and grocery stores. The included breakfast was solid and the coffee was good. Only complaint was the mattress was firm. The staff was amazing and gave us an early check in as well as a late check out according to our flights. Highly recommend.
We were pleasantly surprised by this resort. Not overly big and catering to a wide price range from normal hotel rooms and apartments to overwater bungalows. . All accommodation tastefully decorated with distinct local flair and offering good value for money and access to all the resort facilities. The pool area is nice and partly naturally shaded. Catering in the two local restaurants is good and not overly expensive. With the activity centre and local car hire close by a very good basis to explore Moorea.
Loved this resort! Premium Over water Bungalow lived up to its reputation! WOW! Mostly used the bar for beer. Also only used the restaurant for the breakfast that was included as part of my booking. I enjoyed the food I did eat. Great location with shopping, dinning and grocery within a 10 minute walk. Albert's Activities and tour booking is directly across the street. They even have on-site car rentals. No need to go to the airport for rental car pick up and return. TIP...If you need an automatic transmission, make a reservation ahead of time.

On our 11-day trip to French Polynesia, we stayed a night in an overwater bungalow at Manava and were very impressed by the spacious, tastefully-appointed accommodations, the easy-access reef snorkeling, the massive breakfast spread (complete with omelet bar), and the generous offer of shower facilities after checkout (which really came in handy after we got caught in a downpour when we scootered back from Coco Beach).

This was our first visit to Moorea and we found the Manava to be a perfect home base for us. Not too far from the ferry, a short walk into town to get groceries or a meal, dock for water activity pick up right next door plus a great good truck and also a restaurant right by it as well. The staff were wonderful, we were met at the front, checked in and given a guided tour by a lovely woman who taught us how to say Ia Ora Na. Our room was clean and spacious, the resort facilities and view were all gorgeous. Food was good and not too badly priced, happy hour eas great too. We loved swimming in the pool then heading to the pontoon for sunset and jumping into the ocean. There were some renovations happening while we were there but we barely heard anything, it really didn't impact our stay and will be fabulous when it's done. Would absolutely stay here again.
They have a canoe breakfast delivered via boat that was totes worth it!! Just a bit more than the buffet plus I get all the leftovers
If you like rude staff and staff running all over the place during your dinner--this is your place. Save your money and go somewhere else. Did not enjoy.
The property is somewhat dated but they are remodeling now. Don’t be surprised to hear construction around 9 AM. There is a car rental place across the street. Two places to eat off the property. Short walk into town for groceries and ATM machine. Infinity pool was nice and the beach area was quiet. Beware of the stone fish when snorkeling.
Need renovations!! The matress like waterbeds, the hotel is in beatiful spa but during our stay rain and the ceiling have holes and the water go every way. Dont eat in restaurant absolut terrible food!. Very clean and staff was great

If you want to save some money and still taste the luxury of overwater bungalow in Tahiti, try this one. It is an average-conditioned hotel, with average facilities, and average location.

This is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. The stars was amazing and helpful. Very polite. They remembered our room number by face and was always smiling. Theresa was extremely helpful.. we spent a night for my Birthday in the beach and had breakfast delivered by outrigger the next morning. The fruit plate was fresh and refreshing. We stayed in an over the water bungalow so, I never used the pool.

My husband and I booked a deluxe duplex apt which the description said included a kitchenette and sofa. Our room had neither and this was quite disappointing. The small fridge in the room we were told was more of a "cooler" but it wasn't cold at all. The facilities themselves are nice and the staff is very attentive and friendly. Like most resorts in Moorea the food is overpriced. It was nice that our stay included breakfast each day as this was great with a wide selection of food. We enjoyed the kayaking and SUP equipment the resort offered. The location close to town and restaurants is very convenient.

This was our second stay at the Manava hotel in Moorea and it was just as amazing as our first stay. We stayed in the garden bungalow with the private pool. From the friendly service of the bag runners to the front desk workers and pool boys the service was amazing! We also stayed there Wednesday night (August 21, for my birthday) and we got to see the show that they have by the pool and dining area. Food was unbelievable! Service was again amazing. The show was very entertaining and it was fun being brought up to dance with the dancers, thanks Maui. Overall it was an amazing experience twice for us. If we ever get a chance to go back to Moorea we will definitely be staying at the Manava again. Mauruuru Hotel Manava!!!
It's a lovely place and far less expensive than every other resort we looked at. We stayed in a garden room to save money, and the room was lovely and comfortable with a private patio and a lovely view of the garden. The buffet breakfast was terrific.
1) Ocean water isn’t blue which is not typical with most waters in Tahiti 2) Resort is small with 90’s facilitates (old-fashioned, rundown) 3) Service experience varies - if you’re lucky you will get a staff who’s knowledgeable and keen to help 4) Most restaurants nearby provide free pickups which is a plus 5) Staff at the activity center are very helpful and they come with good recommendations Overall, we ended up paying a premium price (which is expected anyways) for a small resort built in the 90’s. Not recommended!
This resort is stunning. The staff are all nice and accomodating especially Antoniette from the reception desk. We stayed in the Premium Overwater Bungalow room 406. I would have liked to stay a little further from the main house for more privacy and seclusion but it is no big deal. The resort was not too busy at this time of the year. It was hot and humid weather when we stayed in March 2019. The ac and the fan helped relieved the stickiness and hunidity. We had some rain but mostly at night where it was really pouring down. There is a free wifi but mostly not working and spotty at best. Sending photos was a challenged. The buffet was a disappoinment. Not a lot of choices and minimalistic. I expected more variety of tropival fruits. The pineapple were the only ones worth mentioning for they are sweet and delicious. The buffet is $35 pp which is not worth it. Lucky we included this in our room. No restaurant around the area except the little Grill place across the street.

We stayed three night in a premium over water bungalow and it was fantastic. It lived up to the pics and descriptions on the website. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stores & good restaurants in walking distance. Kayaks & Snorkeling equipment included. Food & drinks are expensive $30 meals, $20 burger, $16 drinks, but drinks were $8 from 5-7 everyday.
Often, prices in French Polynesia appear expensive compare to other destinations. It is probably due to the fact that most of the goods are imported from other countries but also because people compare with prices of "market stores" and not with others hotels. I can assure you that we are one of the most reasonable prices hotels on Moorea and in French Polynesia. It was a real pleasure for all of us to have you as a guest and we do hope to have the joy to welcome you back

The deluxe over the water bungalows are worth the splurge! To have that experience at this value rate compared to the other local resorts was fabulous. The staff were wonderful and kind. Keep in mind the resort is very family friendly. Great to have use of snorkel gear, stand up paddle boards, and kayaks. Also handy is the rental car place across the street and the close town shops and eateries. We saw two black tipped sharks, sea turtle and sting rays from our bungalow...great snorkeling.

This was our second stay at this hotel and we love it and want to come back. The location is great...close to shops and restaurants. Beautiful hotel...gorgeous overwater bungalows, rooms with a private plunge pool are great, we enjoyed that room as much as the overwater bungalow. The garden view rooms are great as well. Staff are friendly and helpful. You won't regret staying here.

Pros: location close to the shops and restaurants, the activities you can book through the resort, the water activity crew were so nice and friendly! Cons: the lagoon is shallow and the water is not blue (comparing to other resort in the island), the pool was packed no chairs or towels left when we wanted. Overall a good place if you want to do activities and stay out all day.
Located on on a reef with very shallow water , you may not have the light blue colour you were expecting. It also depends of the weather (was it raining or not ) , but passing the drop off the turquoise colour is there with its mutiple fishes and spectacular sea life . This resort is a little small, which suited us perfectly. Our room was clean and everything was great at the resort. Perfect location within walking distance of a small village and well within a fairly quick taxi ride anywhere you want to go. The water wasn’t as pretty right out front of our overwater bungalow as some other locations because there is a drop off. But you can still see plenty of beautiful water just a little further out. We saw a lot of ocean wildlife also due to the drop off. (Turtles, sharks, sting rays, manta rays, and a large assortment of large and smaller fish) Only complaint is the bed was much too firm for our liking.

Great location, really great dive center on site. Walking distance to market and offsite restaurants. Great bbq across the street and very good French bakery/cafe 10 min. walk. Would have give five stars across all areas but the resort is an older property slightly worn, but still great value for pricing. Loved it and would return again.

The over water rooms are wonderful. The resort is excellent. Only complaint is minor - food was very expensive - $50 per person buffet for breakfast with no ala carte menu. Just eat somewhere else.
Thanks for staying with us . Just a little comment, most of our rates includes breakfast , but it all depends of the package taken. However it is important to know that we probably have the chipest breakfast of all hotels of the island . it is also important to know that our clients are not trapped in the hotel and that seveal food possibilities are available near by. Only ate here one time. Got a $15 pizza. It was good but the final bill was$25 because of eco fee/tax. Thought the charges were excessive. We did the lagoon tour with Albert. It was a great time
The comment on the eco taxe is a little surprising as there is no eco taxe on food and all menues are All taxe included . if the orice on the menu is US$ 15 it what you paid . It does not work as in USA where the taxe is not mentionned in the price After all I do hope you will have great memories of your time on Moorea Sunny reagrds Alain D

Loved Manava Beach Resort. It isn't huge and ostentatious like Hilton or Four Seasons, which is a plus for us. It's smaller with a great island ambience. We were upgraded to an over-the-water bungalow, which was delightful. Loved viewing colorful tropical fish in the coral just off the beach. The restaurants were OK, but there are a couple of great places nearby, and they pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. They are Rudy's and Mahogany. We would definitely go back to Manava if we ever make it back to French Polynesia.

Walking distance to all the restaurants and a local grocery shop where you can buy lots of cheaper drinks, snacks and things. The resort has all you need. We stayed in the garden view room for 4 nights but could still walk around and enjoyed all the services from the hotel. Loved their excursions. Overall, my husband and I had a wonder experience there

My husband has been promising to take me to Tahiti "one day" since I first met him. That was 40 years ago! This was our time. We did some searching to see where we would like to stay and Manava Beach Resort both had competitive pricing as well as great reviews. From the time we arrived we felt treated like celebrities....a cold cloth to cool the face and neck, a cold beverage, a comfortable chair to fulfill the check-in process! A tour of the resort then our bags delivered to our private bungalow. Fresh flowers were used about the living space to welcome us. We had our own personal fenced in yard that had loungers, table and chairs as well as a small pool all to ourselves. The bed was comfortable and bungalow was clean and spacious. We took this bungalow for two nights then moved to an over water bungalow for one night (just to check this off our bucket list).
