歴史あるホテル”

部屋をいくつか見せてもらってから決めたのですが、最後に見せてもらった部屋が一番素敵だったのでそこを選びました。バスタブが唯一ある部屋でしたが、排水がまったくダメでした。ほかの部屋にすればきっと問題なかったのでしょうが、その点だけがダメというだけで、ほかは大満足です。

雰囲気バツグンのホテルです”

スタッフもフレンドリーで親切、とてもいいホテルです。欠点は立地。キャンディ市内からトゥクトゥクで２０分７００ルピーくらいです。バスでも行けますがバス停からは暗い道を歩くので夜は無理。周囲にお店もありません。

Refurbishments could be fantastic”

This lovely old hotel is about to be refurbished and unfortunatley it is rather bare at present and we were assigned an unfurbished room. That said the staff were really lovely and the new manager apologised profusely for the fact that the hotel had not advertised the lack of an alcohol licencevon the agoda website. This was an issue for us as we had gone there for a wedding anniversary and ended up celebrating in a bare dining room with ginger beer. The manager did promise us a refund through Agoda so we are waiting for that. The management is new - the Edwards Collection - and once this place is up and running again after a year it will be fabulous. We will go back!

Historic Hotel, peaceful break form city hotels”

The Mansion is an old family home converted into hotel. Much of the original architecture, furniture, and even pictures have been retained… however bathroom faculties more up-to date. We only stayed one night, but it was very peaceful and relaxing. Staff were extremely friendly and genuine. The Manager of the hotel told us that they will be renovating and turning hotel into a high-en boutique hotel soon. We will definitely return.

Mansion at Kandy - too good!”

Mansion is a little far away from the main tourist attraction in kandy, which is the temple of tooth relic. It was a good 25 to 30 minute drive away from the temple. It is also slightly difficult to find. But once we did, we were glad we had booked this place. The property is clean, huge and beautiful. The rooms are also spacious and is filled with antique/antique finish furniture. 3 of us were sharing a room (girls) and the 2 boys were sharing a room. When we checked in, the manager offered us a bigger room with an extra bed at no extra cost. The boys had trouble with the air con in their room and they were moved to a different room without any delay. This is one mansion I will definitely go back to.

Tropical suburb of Old Shanghai Hotels”

The stay there was a wonderful experience. The whole building/mansion is worth exploring. Would recommend it to those who stay there for more than 3 days. Its location is not convenient for travellers, otherwise, it's a very good place to relax.

Very beautiful hotel, but located in an usual spot”

We had an enjoyable stay at The Mansion, but it was over-shadowed by the attention spent to an on-site wedding & their guests. Most of the hotel & grounds were closed to us for a portion of our first day.

fantastic gorgeous luxury accommodation”

fantastic...we thought we'd died and gone to heaven, didn't want to ever leave. the building is so beautiful with grand rooms including our bedroom...full of antique furniture and beautiful art works. the staff attend to every need and are very friendly. breakfast was great : the food and the outdoor setting. the spaces available to sit and read to rest are grand but also quiet and relaxing. the grounds are superb. Although it's 11 km from kandy going in and out was not an issue (we had a car and driver but other options are available) we liked being out of central kandy which was very busy when we were there. we would definitely stay again at the fabulous price we got on agoda!!

Quiet & peaceful”

Approach road to the hotel needs attention, you need a SUV or a car with high clearance as the road is very rugged. The curfew of 11:00 pm is really bad especially as it takes half an hour to reach the Hotel from Kandy town. Hotel is not well signposted very hard to locate it in the night as the Mansion Hotel Sign in not visible in the night and we went past the hotel for more than 3 kilometers.

Wonderful experience”

The staff accomodated our children and their noises, our vegetarian meal requests and our time for dinner and breakfast, and were friendly throughout. The property was fantastic, and again Agoda or any other reviewing site's photos dont do justice. The only down side is that the internet access was patchy and at times not working.

Romantic hotel in Kandy”

One of the best hotels during our trips in Asia: good location in near by Kandy still in the countryside (rice fields, spice gardens). Very helpful staff. Feel free to ask for airport transfer straight from Colombo - the hotel organized for fair price and the service is very good. Kandy is a contrast with Colombo - people here are friendly, fare and the place is beautiful ans cheerful. Visiting tea plantations is a must - hotel will also help to arrange this kind of trip.

Best hotel of the trip!”

The Mansion was by far the best hotel in the area. Be warned the hotel is a 15 min tuk-tuk ride from town. This was not inconvenient at all. We were able to get around late at night. Really beautiful hotel, very clean, delicious meals. The gardens were so lovely and relaxing. No complaints! Absolutely great.

Beautiful Hotel, Great City”

This hotel blew me away. It can;t really even be called a hotel as it is a mansion. You feel transported back in time and every detail has been well thought out. The staff were lovely and they even let us switch to Ghandi's room mid-way through our stay. This is a unique experience you don;t want to miss.

5 Stars isn't enough!!!!”

The Mansion in Kandy is truly a huge, white, majestic wonder. This historical mansion that dates back to the 1920’s has had many famous guests including Mahathma Gandi and Gregory Peck. In fact, Gregory Peck filmed the movie, Purple Plain, there in 1955. The home has had several owners, but the most recent family have had the mansion in their family for several decades. The current owners are a lovely Sri Lankan family and they have had their Canadian educated son recently return from Canada to the property to ensure the history and splendor of yesteryear continues. This young man is doing an outstanding job restoring the mansion…making sure every fine detail is not missed. He is also spot on when it comes to delivering customer service as well as staff training. The staff were amazing and did indeed go out of their way to make sure every guest had a wonderful stay and left with nothing but positive memories and experiences. This magnificent home was home to his grandfather and even a pet elephant who was indeed a elephant lucky to call the Mansion his home. There are family photographs on the walls (including the pet elephant) capturing that bygone era. The mansion is truly a surreal experience and a photographer’s delight. Your jaw will drop when you arrive and experience the wood carving masterpieces that don the entrance coupled with the opulent marble. The exclusive entrance is a masterpiece of carved wood representing seasonal fruit, grains, venison and fish and is like nothing I have ever seen before. IN fact, the entire Mansion is full of Rangoon teak wood antiques, fittings and moldings. Breakfast is great as are the evening meals. There is a great wine selection and overall affordability is worth mentioning. Don't miss the Mansion. It's truly a unique experience!

Would love to have stayed longer”

A welcome relief from a lot of accommodation we stayed at in Sri Lanka for a similar price. It is a beautiful grand building with lots of lovely touches and we had a truly delightful stay. Will definitely recommend to friends.

Nice hotel close to Kandy”

The hotel was quite nice, rooms were spaciuos with high ceilings. As it is an old building, a needed a bit more maintenance; there were some cracks in the walls etc. Staff was friendly and the service was good. The hotel is 10 kms away from the centre of Kandy which makes it quiet but you have to plan for a 20 mins ride to get to attractions.

Wonderful !”

The house was officialy closed but due to the fact that we were only 3 days in Sri Lanka and that i wanted very much to stay in this house , they just opened it for us. There, the staff was very nice and professionnal, we had the feeling to be friends staying in this beautiful majestic house that has already welcomed Gandi or even prestigious actors a long time ago. Only go, if you want authentic. It has nothing to do with uncharmed business hotels. We just loved it.
