Lovely eco-hotel with great service”
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. We initially got a more basic room. On our arrival we upgraded as we weren't happy with their basic offering. This is a lovely eco-hotel by the lake. Its a secluded place away from the main road so you'd need your own transport if you're staying here. Though by the lake, we experienced no mosquitoes. The place is up kept really well. The staff and manager went out of the way to make our stay comfortable. Service was above standards for sure. I would strongly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing stay.
Wonderful location. The lake is glorious. So much so, that I couldn’t leave the grounds for my three day stay, so Sigiriya will have to wait for another visit. Thanks MPS
value for money and enjoyable place”
Peaceful and serene environment away from busy and noisy roads. Friendly staff and food value for money. Spacious deluxe room and bath which is clean. Ample parking area. Good place to spend your holiday. You can watch peacocks on the trees early morning.
Lovely Stay for our Family”
We had a fabulous stay at MPS Village. Because we were travelling with two young boys (20months and 3 years) we decided to use MPS as a base and take day trips from there. The location was ok for that, not particularly central to anywhere but absolutely fine if you have a driver. The rooms are cute cabins with outdoor veranda overlooking the lake. Absolutely beautiful grounds, loads of space for the boys to run about, big clean pool, lots of wildlife (chipmunks, birds, lizards). The food was delicious. Breakfast was a choice of Sri Lankan (rice, curry etc) or western (toast, eggs, sausages, fresh fruit). On our first morning we were having an early start so the staff kindly made up some packed breakfast for us. We ate most of our evening meals there too - freshly prepared and accommodated all our requests for the boys. The staff were so attentive and really kind to the boys, they were made to feel so special. Our driver also said his accommodation was good. The room had a/c and mosquito nets - very effective. Only a few minor criticisms: the pool tiles were slippery and there were unfinished edges so we got a few cuts on our feet - I would advise wearing beach shoes in the pool but that goes for all the pools we encountered on our stay in Sri Lanka. Also, we requested a cot for our younger son which we didn't get and it would have been useful to know that beforehand.
Friendly staff, lovely pool, nice grounds”
Pleasant, staff were friendly, location is a little hard to find down some back roads, but Dambulla is not a town that looks particularly worth staying in, just there for the cave Buddha's and Sigiriya, so nice to be somewhere relaxing and friendly.
Terrific location, wonderful staff”
Very good, we would recommend this place. Two things: The bathroom might be a bit cleaner, i.e. the toilet, the mirror and the wash basins. Wifi is very bad and instable in the rooms. It is remarkable that the staff is completely male, unfortunately no single woman.
Relaxation within the nature”
Staff were great and helpful. Room was decent and it was surrounded by in the nature which was good to get away from city life. Proximity to the hotel from town is a little drawback but it only cost US2 with Tuk Tuk, which I can't complain much about. Highly recommended if you love peaceful time with your other half.
MPS village surpassed my expectation. Their food is amazing, bungalows clean snd comfortable. I loved the surranding nature - untouched and clean. There is a lovely lake and pool to relax by. I would recommend this place to everybody, in fact, i was sorry that i already made reservations at the cost, since i would love to stay longer.
Beautiful getaway from the crowds”
One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The hotel is placed between hills and a river, providing breathtaking views. There is a lovely garden and a swimming pool that just makes you want to get lazy and spend the whole day watching chipmunks play in the trees and birds flying over the river. Off the main road and definitely for the nature lovers, but that was just fine by us. The shower could have been faster, if we want to find a fault.
Too short a stay to enjoy the resort”
I wish we had more time to spend enjoying the resort. We reached late in the evening, hence couldn't enjoy the property. In the morning we realised that our cottage-like rooms had loely balconies which overlooked the river that flows behind the resort. Though the grass was overgrown, I explored the the banks of the river, which was lovely. The swimming pool was large, but seemed unused (read: unclean). Breakfast was warm - no large spread, just made to order, including fresh fruits. Enjoyable. The restaurant overlooks the river as well. Pleasant experience overall. Would have loved to stay another day.
A Tranquil Oasis!”
We enjoyed a great 2 nights here at MPS. When we arrived we were greeted with massive smiles and a complimentary drink while our reservation was processed. The manager chatted with us at length and showed great interest in our visit and gave recommendations on where to go during our stay in both Sri Lanka and Dambulla. The room was a little dated but clean and comfortable with air conditioning and a TV (although all ‘local’ channels – none in English). We opted for a Deluxe room which had its own little terrace overlooking the beautiful lake (complete with water monitors which was saw a couple of). We were the only guests in the hotel for the majority of our stay and particularly enjoyed having the pool area completely to ourselves. One member of staff was quick to rush out with a pair of towels for us, while another was regularly cleaning the pool of leaves just for us. We ate in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner twice, and lunch once. The local food in particular was excellent, and was far better value and quality than their western offerings. We had one small criticism of the service on the 2nd evening however, where one member of staff proceeded to watch a local soap opera on a television in the corner of the restaurant while we ate our meal! This made us feel very uncomfortable during our dinner and we cut short our time there because of him. Overall, the MPS Village is wonderful, a little out of town but well worth the journey. The surroundings of the lake and hills in the background make it a tranquil oasis just a 5 minute tuk-tuk journey out of the bustling Dambulla town centre. Recommended.
4 days of complete relaxation”
Fantastic stay from start to finish...the owner is very attentive and friendly as are the staff...the views are superb and unique to MPS village... Food was excellent every day and the pool was a great way to end our busy days. I would highly recommend!
Unique type of accomodation”
The facility here is very good, nice swimming pool, green trees all around, nice lakeside view. The food here is also delicious and the icecream here is especially good and cheap, only 100 RS.The saff here is not that friendly, service is the weakness of the hotel.
stay in the jungle”
when I staid this hotel,I feel like I am in the jungle. It is located in the forest that is far from a main road. But location is not big deal because it is a relaxed environment and a lake view is very fantastic.
Lovely hotel with peace and tranquility”
I arrived pretty late at the hotel and had to leave quite early the next day too. Being there just before the busy season started, I was pretty much the only resident. But I got a welcome with a smile n a BIG srilankan breakfast the next day...the only hotel who was happy to accommodate this demand at late notice. All the staff were really pleasant too. Heaven for bird watchers..as the pond at the back is frequented by many birds. Oh and they also have Ayurvedic massage for reasonable prices.
Simple and modest”
Number of rooms are few and very simple but quiet overlooking a small lake and beautiful and fit to be the headquarters for sleep after a long day And those working in hotel and friendly The rooms are modest but clean and had some insects were used pesticide and above the bed there cloth visor mosquitoes, but we did not use it because of the disappearance of mosquitoes
