Oasis of tranquility in beautiful garden -2minutes boat trip from town centre ”

Riverside Resort is a (free) )2 minute boat ride from town set in a beautiful tropical garden on the riverbank . This location provides peace, quiet and a lovely view of the river . Our room had a veranda from Which to enjoy this view. The staff always tried to cater to every need. They never failed. The room was spacious and tastefully furnished in local style. This was a refreshing change from some of the garish hotels we had visited in town and other parts of the country at a similar price point. It was spotlessly clean.

Came with a friend off the train from Pyin Oo Lwin. Hsipaw is pretty remote so don’t expect a lot of attractions but the village trek and boat trip are very pleasant. The hotel is pretty basic but comfortable. It’s on the wrong side of the river but that’s ok there is a short boat hop over to the town. That’s free. The staff are very pleasant and the food isn’t bad although in Hsipaw terms pretty expensive. I think one of the best places in town from what I could see!! Don’t stay too long though unless you like quiet!

Our stay at Riverside Resort was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating to all our needs. We had not booked transport to our next destination during a holiday and the staff went out of their way to arrange transport for us, and even packed us breakfast at 4.30am. The hotel itself was lovely, clean and comfortable.

Beautiful setting”

This is a beautiful resort right on the river. We stayed in one of the rooms which you can see in the main picture. The room was spacious and had a sitting area outside so that you could sit and enjoy watching life on the river. We only had one night here and I really wish we had booked a longer stay as it was one of my favourite places on our whole 3 week trip.

Excellent stay in a very romantic calm and beautiful location at 5min from city center. The hotel manager is doing a great job. The staff is well trained and friendly. Every single decoration detail is chosen with taste, all your needs are met. Breakfast was very good. Very nice rooms! The idea of having a small boat (complimentary) making you cross the river to reach the center of hsipaw in less then 5 min is great! We would definitely recommend this and go back! Thank you for the great stay!

Very nice hotel but isolated from the village”

We'd stayed here only one night. We were a bit surprised that we could only reach the hotel by boat(a pond). The manager(which was quite arrogant) told us that we could reach the village on foot in 30 minutes. It took us more than an hour. The staff although was very friendly and rooms cosy and well occupied. The best bathroom we had during our Myanmar trip. Good place if you don't mind to take the boat(5 minutes) to reach this place.

Quiet friendly guest house”

At present- it only opened in october 2013- the Hsipaw resort is really a guest house with a dining room. While I was there I think there were only one other pair of guests. It is well designed in a traditional style. My room was not a 'duplex bungalow' but a pleasant, AC double room with verandah overlooking the river. It was expensive for what it was. You also have to take a (free) ferry boat across to the town, which is OK by day but not after dark. On the night I ate there ($28 for two courses) I was the only person. They badly need more visitors, but it could be very pleasant. Hsipaw is a small town which is mainly used by foreigners as a trekking centre, which is what I did, but the Charles Guest House seems to be the centre for these trips, and it is much cheaper to stay at.

One of a kind resort in Hsipaw”

We stayed 5 nights at this resort and loved every minute of it. From the delicious and huge breakfast (though it's cold in the mornings and breakfast is served outside) to the impeccable service (manager was able to book our bus tickets back to Mandalay, invited to have dinner at the hotel one night, able to arrange the boat across the river after sunset). The bungalow had premium toiletries, was extremely spacious, had comfortable beds, and a nice patio to watch the sun set every night. Even though this is across the river from the main part of the city it's a very peaceful (and romantic) and professionally run place.

Peaceful, spacious rooms”

Riverside @ Hsipaw is a new hotel with large, nicely decorated rooms, large bathrooms and beautiful views of the river from the restaurant and guest rooms. Staff were very mostly friendly and helpful. The manager is slightly supercilious. Breakfasts were great, and the food ranged from fine to really very good indeed. I had fun touring the local Shan villages, arranged by the hotel. At $80 per night, it is not cheap for the region but probably about fair. Wifi was slow or non-existent (as in pay places in Myanmar). A couple of things to be aware of. Firstly, it is cold in the mornings and breakfast is outside. Wrap up warm - you can see your breath! Secondly, it is on the 'wrong' side of the river and it is not obvious how to get there from the railway station. Lastly, although the hotel promises free ferrying back and forth across the river, you need to clap and about to be brought back to the hotel! Also, crossings are not possible outside I daylight hours. The alternative route over the bridge 3km along the river involves a trishaw ride.

nieuw comfortabel hotel in Hsipaw”

Wij hebben hier een leuk verblijf gehad. je wordt met de boot overgebracht naar de andere kant van de rivier op ieder m Opent dat je dat wil, in het dorp kan je een fiets kan huren of een trekking kan doen! Hsipaw is een heel rustig plaatsje waar je zo een paar dagen kan verblijven. Hotel heeft ons goede service geboden met de boottransfer en vervoer naar het treinstation voor de trein. Het ontbijt (al la carte) en diner is goed, goed verzorgd. Probeer de Shannoodels voor het ontbijt!
