Main good point about hotel is location, right beside train station just around the corner from the bus station. There are also about 6 parking spaces outside which are free of charge which is also a bonus in the City Centre. Needs some money spent on rooms, decor dated. Windows don't stay open it was extremely hot during our overnight stay.
most unfriendly staff at reception”
Most unfriendly staff at reception. Very old fashioned in a fading way. The WiFi didn't reach our room on 3rd floor. Two lamps didn't work in our room. The toilet lever was loose, so I had to push it upwards by hand to stop the water running. Two Emails were not answered (I asked if a taxi to the airport was available at 05.00 a.m.). Very impressive is the entrance hall with the beautiful stairs that lead up to the first floor - but that is not enough ...
Best hotel in Inverness ”
Location was perfect. Everything you need from a grocery to restos including a mall are all a stones throw away. Staff very accommodating. Beds very comfortable. They even surprised us by setting up an extra bed for our young child. Will definitely come back and stay here again 😃
Warm and classy”
Helpful and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room. Nice english/scottish breakfast buffet. Great location which is next to a station. For tourist with car, recommend to reserve a parking space in advance(not much car parking)
Excellent location, Outstanding hospitality. Very generous hotel. ”
Location is excellent, next to the train station and at a very close proximity to the bus station. High street is next to it as is the East gate mall. I enjoyed a lot being in such a beautiful place. The hotel is truly generous and the breakfast was pretty good. It was beyond our expectations, Thank you Royal highland for all your hospitality and making my trip to Inverness a very memorable one.
general info and parking info”
Staff all looked tired. No information given about parking. Communal eating in this setting, really !! Staff intrusive at breakfast ( clearing away while still at the table). Shower hot and plentiful. Duvets a bit thin and worn looking.
Always stay here whenever possible - fantastic location and the staff always make my stay brilliant
The location next to the railway station, was very good ,as we were coming by train from London. Staff were friendly, the breakfast very good, rooms warm & clean. The only down side was Friday & Saturday nights very noisy outside in the street.
quite disappointed with the room ,it was very small and feel since it was an offer this is a budget room, as i have stayed here many times but when booking through other companies as an offer the room are sub standard.Plus side great location.
Great restaurant, great food in the restaurant”
Positives: comfortable, nice staff, next to bus station and restaurants, but the hotel restaurant has great food as well. no elevator, however, the staff will take the suitcases for you if you desire.
Lovely older style hotel right in the heart of Inverness ”
Older building in need of an overhaul but fantastic location. Nice restaurant with High Tea on site. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Right next door to the train station and 5 mins walk to the bus station.
Room was good, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with tub and rain shower. And very friendly and helpful staff everywhere. The hot breakfast was not so good. Bacon and sausage fine, but blood sausage and haggis were exceptionally dry, the eggs rubbery. No pots of tea, just single serve machine. I was surprised as dinner at Ash was excellent.
Ok, but staff were less than helpful”
Really really noisy - really hot in the rooms so left the window open to cool it a bit. Woken up at 3am by drunk people at taxi rank, 6am by loading trucks for hotel. When told the reception they responded as if they didn’t care, “supposed to happen later” and no apology, “these things happen”. Pretty poor customer service for what is apparently a 4star hotel... also a bunch of young boys smoking out the front, staring at people coming and going. Poor experience.
I enjoyed my overnight stay. The location is ideal for train and bus travel. The hootel is near to the main shopping area. The room I had was a single room but the facilities were good. The room was small but comfortable. I would look at using this hotel again. The staff I met were helpful.
A traditional style hotel in excellent location next door to train station ”
An old fashioned type hotel located in the heart of the city a few paces from the train station. You have a feeling of a time warp in the hotel but this is its charm. No real negative issues except the decor in the corridors could do with an update. Didn’t use the bar as prices a little expensive-you can eat and drink at nearby establishments far cheaper. Overall I would consider staying again
Very overpriced and tired interior.”
Rooms are very tired and worn but clean. Bed was large and comfy. Breakfast is very good but the dining room is not appealing. Not worth full price so glad we had a deal. Location is perfect for Inverness
Great City Centre Location”
The Royal Highland was a perfect spot for a weekend spent in Inverness for a stag do. Staff were all fantastic and couldn't fault anyone that I met in the hotel or attached restaurant. Only down side is a Saturday night on Academy St can be very noisy and did get woken up a few times on the first night. Other than that there's no reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel in future.
The size of the room was great and very clean. Most of the front desk was really nice. (one you girl with blonde hair was not so nice. I actually avoided her, and that is not usually me) Breakfast was good. Rather high in price. The toilet did not work right and nether did the one in my son's in his room. My husband lifted the lid off the toiiet and found black mold on it and the wall. (room 102) Not good. We told the front desk Would we stay again? Would have to think on that.....
Very nice stay”
Entering the hotel lovely lobby and was upgraded to the suite. Lovely clean room. Decor dated. Great location. Not to noisy at night. Greeted by Natalie at reception very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to a friend.
I had a. lovely welcome from the Highland Hotel every where was nice and clean breakfast staff were so good and helpful I must say the porridge was excellent best I’ve tasted from any hotel please give my congratulations to the chef it was lovely
