Nice location and beautiful view with private beach”

Nice place for couple or family to enjoy a vacation, with great natural beauty and sights. Staff are friendly and facilities are well maintained. They have different themed nights throughout the week, with performance from local polynesian shows. Internet is slow and some of the facility is old. It is better to book through the hotel web site, you may look for packages that includes airport transfer, and other tours.

Expensive over the water bungalows, but worth the experience. Staff friendly, especially in the restaurant. & days over the water was a once in a life time experience, but never pay these prices again. Only form of transportation is motorbike (expensive), car (more expensive), taxi (ridiculous high prices). BORA BORA is not the hyped up place it is talked about. Slowly slowly the island is loosing tourist and hotels are closing. Much better, cheaper places to visit around the world. AIR TAHITI has monopoly, thus sucks the XFP from you for short journeys. Never want to visit again, and would never recommend the island.

This hotel is a shame for Sofitel and the worst I ever stayed in! It starts from no service (staff is there but sitting around and talking to locals who use the pool and bar all day with their kids using super cheap day passes which include food and cocktail for 44 Dollar which is unacceptable for us paying customers who pay around 400 US Dollar every day!!)So we were not served at all and had to go to the bar all the time and get our drinks and food ourselves! Cocktails are not good. Boat transfer (over 100 $) was not there when I arrived, I had to walt 1 hour and when I told the reception at my arrival I got a weird smile instead of apologies! The hotel is shut down in the waterbungalow area which is a building site right now- guests should be told im advance!! In general the hotel should be closed completely for a total renovation, it's totally run down! The breakfast is awful- the food - especially fruits and vegetables are not covered and there is thousands of flies on it- I told the waitress and chef and both looked at me and said- "yes it is flies, normal"! I was shocked! All the other hotel guests I talked to were disappointed as well and some - on their honeymoon- made a huge fuss at the reception and got upgraded to the private island!! I tried to express my disappointment at reception but I was totally ignored by the responsible lady. At least I was glad I only stayed 2 nights, but really regretted spending my money here! The Sofitel destroyed my big dream of Bora Bora! Sofitel is losing a lot of guests and members with this hotel! Book somewhere else if you can or go to Moorea which is nicer anyway!

A staff was terrible”

The atmosphere of hotel, swimming pool, room, and bar were wonderful and perfect. However, one of your staff tried to make money from us. She offered us her side business transportation service and promised us that the price would be less than the taxi that hotel usually arranged. However, she actually charged us a double price at the end. It made us really upset and ruined my good memories of our stay at Sofitel.

Not what expected”

The location was great, room was great and food was good! Staff except for porter and spa staff were very disappointing and uninterested. Concierge went on and on for 1/2 an hour before taking us to our room and then was hard to get rid of. The entire stay it took at least 30 swipes to get card to open door. Contacting room service was a nightmare and each number would tell you to call another area and not even know the numbers and did not want to help. Ice machine broken and any call to room was 1500 francs.

Excellent stay on Bora Bora”

I had a fantastic stay at Sofitel Bora Bora. Everything was just as I wanted it and I was given a beach side bungalow which was excellent, huge space and really comfortable for the 3 nights I was there. Staff were lovely and booked me on the tours I wanted to go on. Location was beautiful, with all the amenities being adjacent to the water, there is a lovely stretch of beach as well. Would not hesitate to recommend. Merci.

This was the 2nd stop of our honeymoon after Tahiti, it was overwhelming… The hotel is pretty old, but kept in very good condition… The over water bungalow is not super expensive… located at the main island, gives us freedom to walk around or rent a scooter to go around the island… Can't say anything bad for this hotel… excellent...

Good service”

After a week in French Polynesian vacation, I missed my asian food. I bought the instant noodle from the nearby shop and asked for the hot water. The lady staff brought the noodle to the kitchen. After few minute, she brought my noodle in the well decor bowl. That was a surprise.

Best mattress and decent price”

We stayed in one of the luxury bungalow- lagoon front which effectively an overwater bungalow. The location is pretty good. If you stay on the private island, it will be even better, very close to the Coral Garden. Next time if we plan to go back to Bora-Bora, will definitely try the Private Island.

Nice hotel”

Bora Bora is very expensive place.. and Sofitel hotel is quite cheap if you want to compare it with others. I had a bungalow half on the water and half on the ground- and I think it was the best choice. Bugalow is quite big with a big bed and with a very nice and big terrace. The view from you terasce is amazing and you can jump directly to the water. BUT you can expect to meet all possible animals in your bungalow- even rats. Small part of the hotel is situated on the "Private Island". But you can't visit it.. I mean- you can- but you have to pay 70 EURO per person- then you can eat lunch there and stay till 5:30 pm. About Bora Bora in general- I think you will be a little bit disapointed.. because there is plently nicer places around the world and much much cheaper..

not for single travel”

It was not good there traveling alone. The hotel is greared for singles...The food on the Private Island was pretty bad. some of the staff was very friendly whilst others were not so. I heard they were going to remodel but the rooms were fine as is.

Cheap hotel compared to others hotel at Bora Bora”

Althoguh the price is much cheaper compared to others hotel in Bora Bora, but this hotel is still very good in overall. The only disatisfication is the airconditioner is too noisy.

Hotel on beautiful island -terrible service/food”

This Sofitel is misleading on the website as is on its own island and frustrating as you are at the beck and call of their transfer boats, which take ages to ferry you across and we nearly missed our flights because of this. Honestly, we found the Polynisians service and attitude to be the worst in the world and we have travelled extensively. They are not interested in you unless you are giving them money. However, the setting is lovely but hard to appreciate with such shoddy service and inedible food for a 5 star hotel! The actual Sofitel across the way was much better with service and delightful food so recommend you rather stay on the mainland as we thought we had booked.

We loved it! The hotel is beautiful and perfectly located. A dream. Good size too. Not huge.

Romantic destination”

Overwater bunalows were worth every cent paid as long as you were in nos. 62 or higher. The level of service did not live up to expectations as the resort seemed to be understaffed. Staff had difficulty understanding simple english requirements. Meals were disappointing, to say the least.

Romantic place for couple ”

we stayed here for 2 nights, 1 night in lagoon front bangalow at marara beach and another night in overwater bangalow at private island. we love private island more than the main beach because it's very quite and room is luxury furnished and modern equipped and very comfortable. the hotel provides free snorkel gear with limited quantity. we can jump into the sea and snorkel in front of our room which is surrounded by small reefs, coral and little fish. for the dinner, you shpould join dinner buffet in the main beach which the cost is not too expensive but you will enjoy the traditional food and dance show. all are very gorgeous.
