Comfortable, reliable place to stay”
Prices vary widely on this hotel: I have stayed for as little as about B550 but have seen the same room listed for double that price. It is a good deal for the lower price, but there are better values in Khon Kaen if one needs to pay near B1000 for this hotel. That said, Suparee is well maintained, the staff are accommodating and speak decent English, and it is easy to find (next to the much pricier Avani luxury hotel).
It helps to have one's own means of transport if you stay at Suparee, as it is a few minutes drive from Central Khon Kaen or other such attractions; however the Saturday walking street is near.
Khon Kaen is a lovely city (despite the traffic!) with much to offer first-time or frequent visitors (such as myself). Enjoy your stay!

A nice hotel not far from Khon Kaen's main attractions”
This was my second stay at Suparee Parkview, and I found it as pleasant as the first. It is not far from Central Khon Kaen or other major attractions in Khon Kaen, but having one's own transportation is recommended. The hotel is about two kilometers east of Bus Station #2 (I believe that is the correct designation), so it is away from the major traffic on zones of Khon Kaen. With a car or a motorbike, it is only five minutes to Central, or 10 minutes to the lake and the nearby temples and city museum.
The room is simply but nicely appointed, and is to a decent standard, the breakfast choices simple but satisfactory, and the staff helpful with some English ability.
Please note, Suparee Parkview is not near the bar area, but as I go with my partner, that is not my scene; if you have come to Khon Kaen for action, better to stay near Pullman (and a much higher rate). For a quiet room away from the bustle, Suparee Parkview is very nice and at a bargain price for Khon Kaen (we paid about B1200 for TWO nights including breakfast).
One final word of warning: The police presence in Khon Kaen is reportedly much stronger than in most other Thai cities (especially in Isaan--northeast Thailand); I have been warned by long-time expat residents that using a helmet on a motorbike, obeying posted speed limits, and not driving while drinking are MUSTS here. (Just look around: Unlike almost every other city I have visited in Thailand, almost all of the scooter riders are wearing helmets. That should serve as a warning!) Khon Kaen is a lovely city with much to offer. Enjoy your stay, and be safe.
