BackRoads EDI choice”
It was all wonderful. The very helpful Receptionist helped me a lot & secured a lovely room asap I arrived off a Sydney flight of over a day. Then printed out tickets which I obviously couldn’t & needed ASAP. Pleasant staff, nice kippers for breakfast! Great stay May 2019 to/from B/Roads tour.
Lovely Hotel, Fab Room”
We stayed one night at the start of our honeymoon and it was fantastic. We had a beautiful big room that was spotless and the staff gave us some delicious chocolates and put rose petals on our bed to welcome us. Breakfast the next day was absolutely delicious and was cooled perfectly for our differing tastes. I would definitely recommend The Bonham for others to stay.
Two delightful days in Edinburgh over the holidays”
This hotel is lovely, and the quintessential place to stay if you are looking for Georgian character and charm. The rooms are not cookie-cutter, and they are quiet and private. The bathrooms and all facilities were renovated in excellent taste. Breakfast was very nice, just what we needed, and hot dishes were also available - all you had to do was ask! The wait staff and front staff were lovely and professional. Wide and elegant staircases and beautiful holiday decorations rounded out the charm of this very nice hotel. We were very close to Princes Street, and Rose Street as well, a 5 minute walk through gorgeous Charlotte Square. There is a bar located downstairs where you can get a drink or food, and you also can sit in the very comfy lobby and order, which we did at night to have a snack or drink. I highly recommend the hot toddy! We made the most of our time there and hope to be back one day soon, as everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Many thanks!
This is a beautiful hotel. The [superior double] room we stayed in was stunning, spacious and had a fantastic view. Our 2 kids [8 and 9] were in camp beds, but they were really comfy. The only drawback was the thermostat on one of the radiators was broken so the room was a bit too warm. Other that that we had a fab stay. Edinburgh was gorgeous!
Quality, the room, the breakfast, the staff, the welcome , the hotel. The only area of improvement would be the garden bedroom, which is next to a staff area so there is occasionally some foot traffic and associated noise .
Excellent in every way”
The rooms here are amazing, the staff are friendly helpful and efficient. The location is top class, quiet in the evening but only 2 minutes walk to Charlotte Square. Would definitely recommend. One of the best hotels we have stayed in in Edinburgh.
Beautiful hotel and friendly staff ”
Room was beautiful and well appointed. Location is excellent and just a short walk away from Prince’s Street. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and service was slow but staff were aplologetic and food was good.
Updated and lovely hotel ”
Staff were helpful and friendly, room was very nice and very clean. Loved the bathroom especially. Only downside was that while the bedding seemed good quality, the beds themselves were hard and uncomfortable.
Great hotel beautiful view”
Great friendly staff, when you could find them. The hotel was beautiful and clean, late check out. Only con I got married and they didn’t clean my room on the night. We had gotten ready at the hotel during the day so housekeeping had already been round and skipped us, however they had assured us it would be done in the afternoon. It wasn’t the end of the world but it was forgotten that we were getting married even though it was given in notes. Saying that we would stay again, but we live in Edinburgh and used it for a special occasion.
The Bonham is well located, within a short walk of the City Centre but fronting onto a quiet street. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. When my wife and I arrived we were told that work had started to modernise the bedrooms (new furniture and decoration) and refurbish the kitchen. Whilst this didn’t affect our stay it did mean that cooked breakfasts weren’t available on the last two mornings of our visit. Overall a nice and well located hotel.
Have stayed at The Bonham twice and both times it has been excellent. We had a Superior room and it was very spacious with a walk-in wardrobe and a very nice bathroom. The hotel is very elegant but not stuffy at all. 5 minute walk to Princess Street.
Long weekend getaway”
My wife and I spent 4 days at the Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh. The hotel is ideally located for enjoying the beautiful city of Edinburgh. We walked into town every day and had a lot of fun exploring the entire city. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from New Town and about a 5 minute walk from the Edinburgh Castle. We enjoyed the wide array of restaurants for dinner and cafes for breakfast that were all in easy walking distance of the hotel. Our room was clean and the internet was great. If there was anything that was less than excellent from the perspective of the hotel it was the water pressure in our shower was not great, but at the same time it was plenty serviceable. Otherwise the hotel is beautiful and all of the staff was very helpful. I would definitely stay at the Bonham Hotel again in the future.
A beautiful traditional hotel”
If you want to stay in Edinburgh at a traditional hotel then the Bonham is an excellent choice. Our bedroom had everything we needed, the reception staff were really helpful and it felt like we were being looked after. Just check for the best available prices - wouldn't have wanted to pay the Bonham standard rate.
Birthday surprise! ”
This was a birthday surprise for my boyfriend. All of the staff were so welcoming and friendly as soon as we walked in the door. We had a huge bedroom with a super king bed, I struggle with back pain all the time but this bed was amazing! I even asked where it came from to buy my own but the pennies don't stretch far enough at the moment. We also had a 3 course meal In the restaurant with a bottle of wine, it was great value and amazing food which as a very picky vegeterian I couldn't be happier with! I would recommend this place to everyone!
A boutique hotel in the heart of Edinburgh”
The Bonham is a centrally located hotel, a short walk from the Haymarket train station (with a convenient tram stop from the airport), Princes Street and the Royal Mile. We were able to check in early, way before the normal check-in time, which made is possible for us to take a nap (having arrived on a red-eye flight from the US) before taking our first venture out into the beautiful Edinburgh. The young woman who checked us in (whose name, regretfully, I can't remember being completely jet-lagged at the time) also gave us a map and pointers about what to see and do in Edinburgh. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was larger than I expected, and the towels were big and luxurious. I cannot comment on the restaurant as we didn't take any of our meals there, but I would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.
Good hotel for Edinburgh tourist”
My wife and I stayed 4 nights. We arrived early, had a quick check in. Our room was not available. The kept our suitcases and when we came back later in the day, the cases had been delivered to our room. Th room (standard) was small - but big enough for the two of us. It was very quiet and clean. The bathroom was nice. We did not eat at the hotel and it was about a 5 min walk to Princess st. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would highly reccomend the Bonham
Tired and wilting”
We arrived and our room was not ready so we went to the bar to celebrate the start of out weekend away with some bubbles. The staff member took out an almost empty bottle and poured wine into both glasses. The wine was flat and she was about to top it up from a fresh bottle. When I asked her to throw away the old wine she gave me quite a look. Also the roses on the bar were wilted and they were still wilted when we came down to go out 6 hours later! not what one would expect if the staff had an eye for detail in a 4 star hotel. The room was nice but the fittings in the bath room were not what one would expect in a 4 star hotel and the hot and cold taps were the opposite way round in the bath and the sink! There was no turn down and there were only 2 tea bags a day! We had Sunday lunch before leaving and the kitchen left us waiting 45mins for our food when they knew we were on limited time. It was a shame because the food was excellent!
a night in Edinburgh”
We only spent one night here before driving north to see family. But it was a perfect base for Edinburgh, tucked out of the way on a beautiful road. Easy to walk to everything. Room spacious and bed super comfy. Would recommend.
Fantastic hotel close to Old Edinburgh sites”
We had a wonderful stay at the Bonham. The staff was friendly and attentive, the morning breakfast was delicious (including a vegetarian full Scottish breakfast!), and the room and lounge area were comfortable and inviting.
