Excellent Choice, Good location”
The room that was given to me was clean, comfortable and well situated. I could see the crowd passing by every morning on their way to the Forbidden City. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk to the East Gate , Donghuamen, of the Forbidden City. The hotel staff was very friendly and they were able to let me check-in to my room early at 9 am as my flight arrived very early at 1 am. There are plenty of good restaurants on the same street as the hotel and a very well known Peking Duck (Siji Minfu) restaurant just a few blocks away. I stayed there for 6 nights. Overall, an excellent choice and value for money.
A nice, clean hotel ”
The hotel was very nice nice and offered very good value for the money. It's very near Tiananmen Square and about 15 minutes walk from Wangfujing Subway Station. It has some nice restaurants in the vicinity as well. The staff were nice and accommodating, but not exactly overly friendly, which is normal in China. The standard room I got was clean and spacious enough for two people to be comfortable. The bathroom was clean and it offered all the necessary amenities, shower, tub, lotions, towel, hairdryer etc. If you wanted, they changed the towel and sheets daily. It also had air conditioning which was nice. The room didn't smell of cigarette or anything like that. The only "negative" thing is that if you have to exchange money at the reception desk, they absolutely won't accept damaged banknotes, even if it's a 1mm cut. It has to be completely undamaged. If I return in Beijing, I will book this hotel again, I recommend it as a place that offers good value for the money.
I can see how the. JG is a popular hotel. Nicely located close to Wangfujing Street, the Forbidden Palace, and Tianamen Square it is also near some nice eateries and shopping. Close by is Little Yunnan, Beijing Pie and, just down the street, a nice strip of hotels with good restaurants. They had adaquate Internet, lock boxes and a good breakfast. The place was clean and staff were good but basically left you alone unless needed. Check in and out was simple. The rooms were clean and well made up. The whole place is safe and secure. Be sure to stop at Beijing Bike, a 10 minute walk away, it is the only way to see the city and sights. Avoid the taxis and subway. Also, use Bruce as a great guide for the Wall visit or any where around Beijing. Plain place but near Forbidden City”
Nothing to complain about. This hotel lacks the luxury suggested by 4-star rating, but suited me perfectly for a 4-day stay near the classic centre of Beijing. Staff were helpful and spoke enough English to communicate well. Travel agent with office in the hotel arranged an economical tour to the Great Wall. Breakfast included with room was satisfactory, not great but sufficient. Room was far from luxurious, but comfortable and clean. Best of all is the location: Easy walking distance from metro line, Forbidden City south and north gates, TienAnMen Square, shopping and eating. A longer walk to old-ish part of city, just south of TienAnMen, and beyond that to the Temple of Heaven. As an older, single male traveler, I would definitely book here again.
Good hotel close to everything some restaurants nearby about 15 minutes walk to subway service was adequate without being outstanding English of staff likewise I would recommend this hotel if you want a centrally located hotel in the $70 range I had a nice stay there
enjoyable stay for second time”
It was our second stay in three years at this hotel. We chose it again for their friendly efficient staff and great location with easy access to many attractions. The staff bends over backwards to help meet your needs such as extended stay or staying in the dining room to use the Internet. Lack of the latter in the rooms would be my only complaint, but having my table in a corner of the dining room for privacy alleviated that problem. We did ask for a room with a more interesting view over the Hudong rather than the busy street and were given one on the 5th floor... great! Even after staying one night in a five star in the outskirts at a lower rate, We will return here next time. Thank you!
Comfortable and trouble free”
This hotel has a very interesting history which you can read about on the hotel website. The staff was very nice to work with, rooms were very comfortable, well appointed, and clean. The only disappointment was the restaurant. Other than a great buffet breakfast, the menu for dinner was rather limited and it took a long time to deliver the food the one night I ate there (and there were guests only at 2 other tables). The hotel is a quick 10 minute walk to the Palace Museum and many other sites, museums, restaurants and shopping. Can't say enough about the great location. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends, and would stay here again anytime.
I stayed in this hotel several times already. I allways love it. the hotel is very nicely decorated, very clean and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is great, very close to Tian Anmen Square and the Forbidden City and also very close the the main shopping area. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to the subway which is ok. The breakfast in the hotel is very nice as well as the lunch buffet which they offer at a very reasonable price. Next time I'll stay here again.
Trip with my mom”
It's not big not small hotel with confortable room and also have a computer in the room with internet connection. Opposite of hotel have convenion store and delicious restuarant. Hotel staff can speak English little bit.
Small room but very clean, limited tv channels though. Taxis are very accessible especially if you want to go to the weekend flea market. Walking didtance to walking street where you can do high end shopping.
Wangfujing Pedestrian Street and Donghuamen Food Street are just walking distance away from the hotel. Tiananmen Square is about 20 minutes walk. The cleanliness of the hotel is not fantastic though. Hotel services like Great Wall tour package and airport transfer are very overpriced so try to avoid them.
Convenient and comfortable”
The hotel was located conveniently near the Forbidden City. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk to Tiananmen Square. The staff are helpful and were able to give good guidance to the nearby sights. The rooms were well maintained, although if you have noisy neighbours the walls are a little thin. View over the city was fantastic.
stayed in this hotel several times. i really like the location very near tian anmen square and forbidden city as well as near to shopping area. the hotel is very clean and well managed. the staff is very helpfull and speaks english. the breakfast buffet is good, chinees and western style food available. the lunch buffet i find good value for money and very tasty!
i had a great time staying in this hotel again. hotel staff speaks english. the location is super as it is only walking distance to tian anmen square and the forbidden city. also the hotel is very closely located to the shopping area, which is great also for some quick lunch or dinner. the breakfast buffet in the hotel is very good as well as the lunch buffet, really good value for money. good variety of food, and fairly western, which is nice for a change.
Stayed in this hotel for the second time. The location is perfect for combining business with some sight seeing. The forbidden city and Tian Anmen square are at walking distance from the hotel. Also the shopping area is just around the corner. From the airport we took the train and metro to get to the hotel, from the metro station it is a 10 minute walk. Also the Beijing train station is fairly close to the hotel. Breakfast is delicious as well as the lunch buffet!
a historical hotel that has been fully refurbished, retaining the ancient roof character, very nice. the hotel provides 4 small bottles of mineral water & 4 cans of soft drinks daily, the first i've ever come across in any hotel. room is spotless. air-conditioning may be a problem for some, quite warm for us, reason given it's autumn season. but they provided us a table fan. walking distance to the forbidden city, passing some small shops where you can buy cheaper beijing shoes with embroidery; short walk to wangfujing, food & shopping street. about 15-20 mins walk to the nearest subway, not too bad, buses easily available. would definitely come back.
Had quite a comfortable stay in this hotel. Walking to the subway only take about 15 minutes. Reception staffs are friendly and have no problem in communicating in English. They helped me to arrange taxi to the airport and gave me a contact card with information of the taxi. This was one way they made sure the taxi driver did their job well. The hotel cleaner replenished all consumable without being asked-including soap, shampoo, toilet papers, drinking water etc. We have traveled to many places and stayed in many hotels and this hotel is one of the best in term of cleanliness and service.
Hidden Gem with excellent qualities”
Excellent location for the visit of Forbidden City, Tian An Men Square and downtown Beijing, which are all within easy walking distance. Food is of good quality and definitely excellent value when compared to area establishments. Staff is very helpful. When we wanted to extend our stay and room, they claimed to be booked out and unable to match Agoda rate, but suggested I contact Agoda and book over internet: we had the answer in ten minutes, and confirmation from hotel in half an hour. Excellent savings due to staff suggestion.
Good location very central. ”
Hotel is extremely well situated near the tourist center of Beijing, Tienanmen square etc., and 5 minutes walk from a main shopping district complete with restaurants and the famous "snack" market area where anything that walks or crawls is skewered and eaten. However that 5 minute walk makes the difference between being in the noisy center and being in a quiet area. We heartily recommend the Jade Garden to tourists and business travelers.
Excellent value , very welcoming staff”
By the standards of our superior room, this hotel truly offers four star service for the Agoda booking price. When we wanted to extend our stay, staff told us they could not accommodate our request for the same price as Agoda and had no availability, but suggested to us to contact Agoda and make the booking over the net, which we did successfully.Staff almost all spoke English and were very welcoming. Food was in quality and taste far better than that offered in many area restaurants. A nice touch: whenever you arrived or left by cab, an attendant gave you a receipt card with the cab co., number and exact time so you would be able to retrieve lost items or file a complaint. We had a very satisfying stay here.
