Best stay of our trip! 5-star service & location!”
The Jaiwana Haveli was hands down our favorite hotel, and Udaipur the city we enjoyed the most on our recent 2-week trip to Rajasthan. I was lucky enough to get a corner room overlooking the lake (book early!) with tons of sunlight and amazing views. I was traveling with two friends and all of our rooms were very clean and well-maintained. The interior floors and stairs of the hotel are mostly done in white marble, which is mined in the region. Bathrooms were tile and also very clean. The rooftop restaurant and the staff make this hotel great. After day traveling through the sensory overload of India's streets, the rooftop terrace was an oasis, with fantastic views of Lake Pichola and the surrounding mountains. The owner, Yash, and his brother, were very welcoming and accommodating. We communicated with them by email before our arrival and they were very responsive. They were around very frequently during our stay, made sure we were comfortable and gave us good recommendations. It's important to note the difference between "official" hotel star rating and guest reviews, as I feel that it unfairly biases against hotels like Jaiwana Haveli. The star rating is based on things like having a pool, a spa, a gym, room service, etc. I have stayed in terrible "5-star hotels" and fantastic 2-star hotels, so I find user reviews to be WAY more helpful. The Jaiwana Haveli ranks #5 on TripAdvisor behind only the ultra high-end Oberoi, Taj, Leela, which are extraordinary hotels but cost night. I stayed at the Leela in Delhi and frankly enjoyed my stay at Jaiwana Haveli more for a fraction of the cost. Walk right our your door and around the center of old Udaipur, 5 mins to the City Palace. Sit up on the roof and drink your coffee in the pink early morning light, then come back and close out the day with cold beer in the afternoon sun. Hard to beat this place. Thanks for a great stay!
Wonderful views, wonderful staff”
We stayed at Jaiwana Haveli for two nights while in Udaipur and wish we could have stayed longer. Udaipur and Jaiwana were almost a mirage after several long days on the road. We felt comfortable there immediately - dropped our bags in our room and headed up to the rooftop terrace restaurant for a cold kingfisher and some lunch. You can see the whole city from the location right on Lake Pichola, from the City Palace and Jagdish Temple on the left, to the Monsoon Palace high up on a mountain off to the right, which is lit at night and looks as if it is floating in the night sky. The food was quite good and we had several meals up on the roof. Perfect place to look out and plan your day. We had both Indian dishes and more continental style food. The curries, lassi (fruit/yogurt smoothies), and pancakes were all very good. Try the butter naan, chicken curries, paneer palak, jeera rice. The banana chocolate pancake was surprisingly good and more of a french style crepe. Yash, the owner, was very attentive both before our arrival via email, and during our stay. He and his brother were extremely helpful in giving us recommendations for getting around. The desk staff was also fluent in English and quite helpful, giving us a map of Udaipur and orienting us to the layout of the town and important sights. We hadn't booked early enough to get a coveted corner lake view room, but he did a little shuffling and made it happen for one night - amazing views and lots of sun. The second night, we moved to another, non-corner room on the 2nd floor and still had good light and a bit of a lake view. The rooms are simple but clean, with white marble floors and tile bathrooms. It can get a little chilly at night in the winter, but extra heavy blankets were put out in our room and I slept comfortably. Ranks #5 in Udaipur on TripAdvisor, behind only ultra high-end Taj, Oberoi, Leela that cost 10x more. It's a small, hotel so book early if you want the best rooms!
Nice and centrally located hotel”
Jaiwana haveli Hotel is located in the center of Udaipur, close to all the interesting spots. The hotel has an older part and a newer wing. The older part is more heritage style with lots of marble. The newer wing is more modernised. I stayed in the newer wing. Although the stairs towards the room were not really clean and some small constructions were still going on, the room itself was really nice! The room was very clean and big and had a very nice lakeview. The style of the room was quite modern/westernalized, but with an Indian touch. The big bathroom was very clean and modern with a very modern toilet, shower and sink, and real hot water. The bed was great. Moreover the hotel has a lovely rooftop restaurant with beautiful and romantic sights of the lake Palace, city Palace and the lake. Finally, the manager was really hospitable and willing to give lots of information. Moreover, I Got a free shower before getting on the nighttrain after checking out. Recommended hotel!
Wonderful breakfast with a view”
We checked in at the Jaiwana Haveli after having sent two nights at the amazing Lake Palace, so we were expecting to get a tenth of the service and comfort as it was a tenth of the price per night. But we were pleasantly surprised; the staff were warm and welcoming, the room (although simply furnished) was bright and clean, the location was great for getting around town but very quiet at night, and the al fresco breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable: a warm creamy porridge and a superb fruit salad were among the menu choices. The wireless internet was free and worked without a glitch - which is more than we can say for our previous hotel! The only drawback was that the bedding was only a sheet-and-blanket combination. we didn't expect the "Bedding Menu" to select lavender duck-down pillows like in the Lake Palace, but if the hotel would invest in some regular duvets and more pillows, it would make a big difference to the all-over feel of the place. I would definitely stay here again if we came back to Udaipur.
Centrally located, good place to stay!”
We stayed at Jaiwana Haveli for one night. We were new to Udaipur and wanted to explore the sights as well as do a spot of shopping. The best thing about the hotel was its location- all the main attractions such as City Palace, Bagore ki Haveli & Lake Pichola are within a 200 meter radius. The local markets are also around and everything can be covered by simply walking around. The rooms were a decent size & clean; the rooftop restaurant has a great view of the lake and serves decent food though the service was a bit slow. Overall- a great stay and would definitely come back were I to return to Udaipur.
Very pleasant stay”
We highly enjoyed our stay at Jaiwana Haveli. We were very warmly and professionally welcome, we got several explanations on things to do, where to go, etc. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The haveli is very nice, all in marble and our room was perfect. Location couldnt be better - right by the lake where you can enjoy the nicest sunset and views of Udaipur, which is a very beautiful city. The rooftop is really nice!! The breakfast is very good and you can enjoy a drink or lunch/dinner too. We really enjoyed our stay and can only recommend Jaiwana Haveli.
Dear Karen, Thanks for a glowing review. We are glad you loved your overall stay. It's been a pleasure serving you. Your remarks are highly encouraging. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes from all of us at Jaiwana Haveli , Udaipur
We stayed for 3 nights at Jaiwana Haveli, with 2 rooms with amazing view of the sunset from the private rooftop. This hotel was excellent from the perspective of cleanliness, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, value for money, and quality of room & dining experience. The roof-top restaurant served very good food at a reasonable price. The staff there are long-serving employees, who catered to our every request. On the first breakfast, I requested tomato ketchup (to go with my omelette). From that day onwards, every other breakfast meal I ordered automatically came with tomato ketchup. Small details like this made the experience so special. We had 2 rooms with balcony overlooking the water. The rooms were very pretty, roomy, clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are filled with modern amenities. At the front of desk, we were always greeted by Yash and Mahendra with a big smile and good laughs. They catered to all our requests for a car, driver or any tips for sight-seeing. Even though hotel customers can be demanding at times, Yash and Mahendra were always cool calm and collected, with a "fix-it" and "can do" attitude. Yash and Mahendra have both kept a tight rein on quality, very impressive. Great hotel, value for money. Highly recommend it. Another highlight of our trip. Thank you Jaiwana Haveli
Everything was excellent”
Everything about Jaiwana Haveli was excellent. The rooms are simply furnished and not huge but the quality was good. The shower had hot water. The bed was very comfortable. I had good views of Pichola lake. The rooftop restaurant was good with nice staff. There was good tourist information easily available + a local map/guide (first & only time that this has been provided in 3 weeks of travelling around India). There is good attention to detail in this hotel. The staff all appear to be well trained in customer care (& not just the customer care where they do a tiny bit of service & then have their hand out for a tip). I enjoyed my 3 night stay very much & will definitely go back if I retur to Udaipur
Five Star Service in a High Quality Hotel”
My wife and I were delighted to have such a wonderful experience at the Jaiwana Havelli after a somewhat nightmarish experience at Raas Leela Luxury Camp the night before. Jaiwana was half the price and superior service with a staff that genuinely cares about your well being. The room quality was good and it was very clean. Free and fast wifi was available.. and they gave us the password without promoting when we checked in and the fellow who checked us patiently provided answers to a number of questions... even finding a hair dryer for my wife to borrow. They way a terrific roof deck with a great view of the Lake and the surrounding ultra high end well-lit hotels resorts around it. The food is very good and certainly exceeded my expectations for the rooftop restaurant at a non-5 star hotel. Since we were leaving early the next day, I mentioned that we would be leaving very early and needed to resolve all issues that evening which we did.. . he then took the initiative to prepare a free bagged breakfast so we had something to eat since we were missing our included breakfast. If you are looking for a very clean and reasonably priced hotel with all the basic western amenities (wi-fi, a/c, heat, private bathroom, quiet room), a delightful staff and a great restaurant I strongly recommend this place!
Amazing view and veeery helpful hotel staff!”
we spent 2 nights in udaipur. we were extremely pleased with jaiwana hotel. the location couldn't be better, but the best things about this hotel is the view from the roof terrase and very helpful staff. hotel staff in india are in general trying to be helpful, but often their english skills are allowing them to do that. my experience was also that it is difficult to get a good advice from hotel staff. but not n jaiwana! you could feel that the hotel staff (family owned, that why they care, i guess) were experienced in helping foreign travellers to get around udaipur. we got very useful help in every question and problem we had (and we had many - starting from where to go and what to do and up to calling a doctor and helping us to communicate with our driver who wasn't speaking english). i would with no doubt recommend this hotel to anyone. though one remark - it is a budget hotel. no fridge and ac, so it is not a place for your honeymoon in the middle of indian summer.
Fantastic choice to visit Udaipur”
We travelled mother and daughter to Udaipur at the beginning of August and we had such a great stay at Jaiwana Haveli. Great location in front of the Lake, next to the palace, with an amazing rooftop where breakfast is served, rooms are basic but very clean and the staff from the people at the reception, the rooftop restaurant workers, cleaning staff, etc. all of them make a perfect stay. 100% recommended and will definitely go back next time we visit Udaipur. Thanks for such a lovely time!
Great place to stay in Udaipur! ”
Stayed there in September 2019, and got a good deal by booking on Agoda. So glad we stayed here, because Jaiwana was a lovely place! Beautiful place, the rooms were lovely and the staff was really friendly. They helped us by guiding us correctly, and providing excellent services whenever needed. Plus points for extending breakfast time because we were late! The location is a major plus point for this hotel, because most of the places worth seeing, must-have experiences and must-visit restaurants/cafes are at a walking distance. The view of the rooftop restaurant is great too! All in all, a great option for accommodation when visiting Udaipur. The only grouse we had was that we felt the room was too small for the price we were paying.
Dear Guests, Thanks for a wonderful review. We are very pleased to hear of your excellent overall stay. Your remarks are much motivating and are appreciated by our entire team. We look forward to welcoming you again. Warm Regards from all of us at Jaiwana Haveli, Udaipur
Couldn't be happier”
Our experience at Jaiwana Haveli was great. My boyfriend and I ended up being sick for part of our stay and we couldn't have picked a better hotel to be sick at. We woke up someone in the middle of the night and were able to get some fresh fluids and they offered medicine. We were able to eat smaller meals at the restaurant on the rooftop while recovering and were still given great service. They had great tourism advice too which made it easier to navigate the hotel. Also on of my favorite memories of our trip to India was eating breakfast on the rooftop hotel and having drinks at sunset. We will definitely stay there again if we return to Udaipur.
Excellent in every area. ”
We stayed in Jaiwana Haveli for 3 days last week. Family-run hotel with a European-like approach to service and guest satisfaction. Very clean and well maintained (like new), with smiling and supportive management and all staff. Excellent central location, very calm and quiet at the same time. Superb views from the roof-top restaurant. Food very good and sensibly priced, very solid standard breakfasts. Rooms all fine, some with excellent views as well (in general the higher the better). All our prior feelings to India were changed to positive after our 3 days in Udajpur and Jaiwana Haveli. We just had our best moments in India there. Extremely positive recommendation. Joanna and Michael
Great hotel with excellent hosts”
we had stayed one night in jaiwana haveli in april 2012. we booked this hotel based on feedback here and weren't disappointed. it is situated in a great location and within walking distance of most attractions. the rooms are neat and small. one shouldn't expect too many facilities. the hotel is great for its tariff. the roof top restaurant is amazing and has a nice view to the lake. the owner (yash) is very helpful and honest. we had reached early in the morning in the peak season and still they managed to get us a room quite early.
Really loved the hotel Jaiwana haveli...thanks to it's location, view of the lake Pichola, helpful staff, architecture and access to the old-city market...all at an affordable price. I must mention the Restaurant staff, Lalu, Dalvir, Gopal and Nayeem at the Front-desk, for excellent service, with a smile.
Dear Subrata, Thanks for a lovely review following your recent stay with us. It's been a pleasure serving you. Your remarks about our location, hospitality, and service are highly motivating. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes from all of us at Jaiwana Haveli, Udaipur
Amazing hotel in Udaipur”
We had a fantastic stay at Jaiwana Haveli. We were upgraded to a room which had a beautiful view of the lake. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. Breakfast was included in the booking and delicious. The location is perfect, in a great spot that is walking distance to all of the sites, but is also quiet and away from the busy main streets. Wifi wasn’t working but the hotel kindly gave us a portable wifi device that we were able to use during our stay. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Dear Guests, Thanks for a lovely review. We are glad you loved your overall stay with us and found us worth your high recommendation. Your remarks about our accommodation, food, service and location are highly encouraging and inspiring. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes from all of us at Jaiwana haveli, Udaipur.
Excellent location, Brilliant service, Amazing value”
Thgis is really a gem in Udaipur. Location-wise, it is in Lal Ghat area with all the main attractions such as Jagdish temple, City Palace, Gangaur and Hanuman ghat within walking distance. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The views of lake Pichola (we stayed in Rooom 31) from the corner rooms as well as the terrace restaurant are amazing. The staff are amazingly helpful - they are the real strength of this Haveli. Naeem was particularly outstanding - has vast knowledge of the place and sights,. shared tips to make the best of our stay and went out of way to make our stay so pleasant and enjoyable. We also enjoyed the breakfast, again excellent service. One thing we would have liked is a small fridge in the room. Overall, highly recommended and we would stay here again in visiting Udaipur.
Dear Sanjeev, Thanks for an excellent review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay experience. It's been a delight serving you. Your remarks are very generous and encouraging. We would love to welcome you back. Best wishes from all of us at Jaiwana Haveli, Udaipur
Awesome location -worth the visit”
Harsh made the trip all worthwhile. He is an amazing host and pays attention to the little things that we appreciated. This is an excellent facility and location. A pain to drive to but we knew that when we signed up. Would have also appreciated a better view from our room and the third bed that we had asked for at the time of booking the room. Food was good and the climb up to the dining room was worth it considering the views both at breakfast time as well as dinner time. We also got some laundry done and it was promptly done at reasonable price. Harsh even took care to provide us breakfast to go as we were leaving early to the airport - early flight. Thank you. Would revisit Udaipur again and definitely stay at the Jaiwana.
Great place to stay”
Located very close to the palace with great views of the lake from the roof top terrace restaurant. You will be looked after by all the staff, who are keen to help make your stay a comfortable and memorable one. Would certainly recommend the Jaiwana Haveli to anyone who stays in Udaipur.
