I am used to staying in clean places and have little contact with creepy crawlies. The first room that they put me in had a small hole at the door which allowed the insects, ants, lizards and spiders to crawl in. I felt that I couldn't really sleep at night knowing that I have that much amount of insects surrounding me and so I asked for a change of room. They gave me an upgrade to a larger room in a house with no extra charges. There were lesser insects but the sheets in the room were stained. Tired of moving, I made it through the night. A chat with the manager and other tourists during breakfast (the next day) made me realised that insects and creepy crawlies are actually a common sight no matter where we stay in Ubud - this is the real Ubud experience. Although, I still wish they did something to the sheets to get rid of the stains. Rest assured, the sheets are actually washed and clean, but some stains are just that stubborn. Location wise, I would say this is the best hotel. It is not right smack in the middle of the city, a 10-15 min walk away, but it is surrounded by good food. The villa offers simple fare. Three choices to choose from - A simple toast and fruits breakfast, American breakfast with Eggs and Ham, and the traditional Indonesian mie goreng/nasi. It may not be a lot, but the food is extremely delicious. They also serve freshly blended fruit juice. Overall, I am really really glad that I stayed on in this hotel, especially because of the staff. They are really generous with their greetings and they go the extra mile to ensure you have fun, but stay safe. One time, I sprained my knee and they even offered to bring me to the clinic. More importantly, they made me feel like family and gave me every assistance I needed - from getting rid of spiders to fixing the toilet flush overflowing with water (I am embarrassed to even relay how the toilet bowl became jammed in the first place).
Wonderful Jalan Jalan ”
We loved Jalan Jalan. It was our third place of a 10-day trip & it was our definite fave. From the moment we arrived until the second we departed....nothing was too much trouble for Arka & his happy staff. Our superior room was a villa with a HUGE bedroom, a reception/stitting room with kitchenette and his & hers bathrooms! The place was a tiny bit tired in part (bity of paint needed here & there) but the small complex was authentic Balinese buildings & furnishings. The gardens are lovely & the whole place was spotless. I would certainly return to Jalan Jalan and I recommend it to anyone who desires a small, inexpensive hotel where the staff are absolutely wonderful. Thank you Arka and company :)
Simple but with superb service”
This hotel is built in a Balinese style, and very well maintained. In terms of facilities, the hotel is not sophisticated. The biggest plus of the hotel is its outstanding service, led by the Operations manager Arka. He and his staff is extremely helpful. They go all the way to make your stay a memorable one. All in all, it is a hotel with an outstanding value for money. If you are looking for lots of hotel facilities this is not your hotel. If you are looking for service this is a good choice. The hotel is located around the corner of an Italian restaurant and a Mexican restaurant almost exclusively frequented by Australians and Americans. Also around the corner is a superb authentic Balinese restaurant, the ARMA Kafe which is part of a museum. Across the street is the Jaen Spa Ubud, awarded with lots of prices because of its outstanding massage.
We were very happy with our stay at this hotel.”
We enjoyed our stay at the Jalan Jalan. The room was spacious and comfortable. The grounds were kept very clean. The outdoor pool was nice. The staff were excellent in helping us with accommodations as well as arranging tours and transportation. I would recommend this hotel to others.
A very comfortable and relaxing stay.”
Our stay at Jalan Jalan was an extremely happy one. The staff were so helpful and sweet. The 2 bedroom unit was very spacious and clean. Even though it is not a new and modern hotel it was still very comfortable and offered everything we needed as a family with 3 children ( 14, 12, 9yrs). It's location was close to everything and offered a free shuttle service to Ubud centre. We loved the breakfast by the pool, especially the omlette! Jalan Jalan as beautiful gardens and the environment is very quiet and peaceful. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Nice friendly family hotel”
Our room(superior)looked like a small private villa, surrounded with the beautiful garden. The room and bed sheets were very clean. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Cleaners never disturbed us when we were in the room. I still do not know how they could exactly know if we were in the hotel? Each time when we came back to the hotel the room was made up. The staff made us feel like their family members. We had to stay in Ubud for 10 nights and it was a really good time. I am still very grateful to the lovely ladies in the restaurant kitchen for the beautiful banana pancakes. They really spoiled me with the beautiful breakfast! The only thing I was not happy about were the towels. The towels were not white and new anymore, some of them had holes; sometimes they did not smell well. That's time for the hotel manager to get new towels! Jalan Jalan is a lovely small quiet hotel with a perfect location, very close to the Monkey Forest and Amra Museum. I will recommend my friends to stay in Jalan Jalan. Nataliya Samokhina, Brisbane
Great location and friendly staff!”
Jalan, Jalan. The comfortable atmosphere of this place was only outdone by the professional and competent abilities of the management and staff. Clean spacious rooms, a great pool with adjacent dining area and delicious food. A five star experience for quite a reasonable price. Many thanks to Mr Akar and his excellent staff who went the extra mile to ensure our stay was a memorable one!!
Everyone was a delight and tremendously helpful. ”
we booked in for 2 days with our daughter. hong kong air (never use!!)provided us with the flight from hell to arrive in bali! our spirits and delight with bali were renewed here. we tried to book in for a couple more days but they could only accommodate us for one more. the staff went out of their way to phone around to find another hotel for us. all was great here!!
Very good location and peaceful resort”
Had a very good stay at Jalan Jalan, initially booked for 3 nights, but extended another 5 nights directly at the hotel. The staff and manager are very friendly and will assist you in anything you need. WIFI is available at the lobby area and the restaurant area. Rooms were clean, and a nice swimming pool at the entrance. The location was perfect next to many good restaurants, shops and super market. The prices were also very affordable.
Nice pool. Big clean comfortable room. Friendly staff. Easy free shuttle to Ubud Palace. Monkey forest 5 minutes walk. Italian and Mexican restaurants outside the hotel with excellent food. Air-con noisy and not very efficient, toilet flush a bit dodgy but shower nice and hot. Really good breakfast but not much choice if saying more than a few days. Some good tours arranged at the front of the hotel but they tend to be a bit pushy after a booking.
Very lovely villa hotel”
this little villa hotel has beautiful rooms with view. room condition is much more better than those picture on agoda. Hotel staff are helpful. American breakfast is ok. we will return one day.
Balinese style hotel with excellent location”
hotel was quiet and the swimming pool beautiful. rooms were balinese style, very big and comfortable. only thing missing is balcony or terrace. hotel location is good, short walk from monkey forest and good restaurants nearby.
Warm Service with Plenty Of Smiles”
we stayed for close to 20 days at jalan jalan and we were totally satisfied by their services. the staff is very helpful with plenty of smiles. the quality of the room was very good for the price. what we enjoyed the most was the tranquility of the resort. as soon as you left the noisy main road, you entered into a little peace haven. we strongly recommend this resort for any type of stay from short to long term!
lovely hotel and service with a smile”
The environment gave a cozy home-like feeling with as staff were friendly and helpful. As a business traveler, the internet service was fast and receiving was very good. As there are not many rooms (therefore not many people, the place is peaceful and allow me to do my work in quiet even when I'm at its restaurant. I will recommend to my friends and colleagues and I look forward to my next stay.
Great hotel with good services and food.”
We love this hotel as it was very friendly and the room was quite spacious and clean.Location was near the monkey forest which takes about 5 minutes walk round the corner.Very friend staffs and the morning breakfast was really delicious with three choices to choose from.Value for money really especially with the spacious room. My kids love the pool which is near our room. Will come again during our next trip.
Nice place in Ubud”
this hotel was relatively inexpensive but still of a good quality. we enjoyed the friendly service and it was nice and close to the places we wanted to visit. ubud is a great place to chill out for a few days.
Great location, nice and clean cottager”
This Cottage Hotel in Ubud was a small paradise during our stay, and answered to all our expectations.Friendly staff, very neat and clean cottage-room. Great bed, all smelled very nice. The breakfast quality was okay, really enough. The restaurant is a little bit small, and we and other guests hardly were there for lunch and dinner. Swimming pool is okay, and possibilities to rent a motorbike, or to go for a guided tour, were very easy to do and very close to this hotel. We surely would like to get back again some other time.
beautiful quiet hotel with helpful friendly staff”
we would defenitely stay here again and would recomend to friends and family. the staff were great and helped us to make our first trip to bali a memorable one. the girls who did the massages were friendly and good at what they do. the other staff were always freindly. the rooms were very clean and more than adequate for what we needed. the overall feel of the hotel was relaxed and comfortable and great value for money.. thankyou for a great experience
Large room and pool”
Our room was large and spacious, with a private bath, fridge and AC. I was quite happy to have nasi goreng as a breakfast option, since I really don't enjoy American-style breakfast. The pool was quite relaxing after a long day. The hotel is more on the fringes of Ubud, but still located conveniently.
Lovely quietplace with great staff”
When i got there they told me that i couldn t get wifi in my room because it was too far from relay; big disappointment. Manager saw it and upgraded me to superior room for same price...that's what i call service at customer's satisfactions! I appreciated the gesture so much and the room that i extended my stay 4 extra days. Pool is beautiful, place is nice and traditional, it's quiet but not far from main ubud center. They served the breakfast even if we woke up after opening hours. cons: hmmm...hard to find one...may be the stones in the bathroom; kind of strange idea that my feet didn t appreciate much.
