We chose this hotel becuase our Labrador's name is Jasper”

The name of the hotel was so enticing, that my partner and I decided to stay here right away for our trip to Melbourne. Jasper Hotel is very close to the CBD and walking distance from EVERYTHING. You can easily get here with the free tram system Melbourne offers. Jasper Hotel was very close to many food outlets and a great coffee place down the road. The staff were very lovely and allowed us to check in at 10am when we arrived. Further to that, they stored our baggage for us the entire day after our check out. I would definitely recommend everyone stay at this lovely hotel, awesome value for money and A+ service. - Sandra

Great location, great room!”

conveniently located to qvm, clean rooms and toilet, short walk to bourke street and other shopping

popped by to melbourne after a short trip in sydney, stayed at the jasper for four nights, no regrets! we were upgraded to a deluxe king, which was awesome, the room was huge by aussie standards, very clean (carpets were nice and clean too) with a nice big toilet. no bathtub, but not an issue for us. room was a bit dark as the lamps in the room couldn't illuminate the wide living area, but the ceiling light at the entrance helped. an interesting thing is the corridors of each floor is a different colour (we got the red floor, level 4), so that was something cool. paid internet and laundry available near the lift. location was good too, just next to qv market so we popped next door to grab breakfast. 24hr mcdonald's just next door too if you're feeling peckish at night. main city belt was a 5 to 7 minute walk away. didn't try the dining, but the place was nice and coffee pretty good. i would say the only drawback is the lack of parking space, but the whole lot of nearby street parking and overnight carparks helps. all in all had a wonderful time here and in melbourne, definitely recommend the jasper for your holiday needs!

Jasper Hotel Review”

Location, Hotel condition, Room comfort

Overall, our stay at Jasper Hotel is a remarkable one. The room is very comfortable, the location is superb, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel's WIFI though keeps kicking us out, even if we become inactive on our mobile for just a few minutes. Maybe you can look into this. Also, in our room, there was a grumbling sound from the pipes in the ceiling right outside the bath. Maybe this is the radiator or something to do with the gas? We're not sure. There was a grumbling sound every few minutes, which would startle us every now and then. Maybe you could also look into this. I would definitely recommend Jasper Hotel to my friends visiting Melbourne. And on my next visit, Jasper Hotel will most likely be my hotel of choice. Thanks for the memorable stay! :)

Awesome Stay”

Friendly Staff, Convenient Location & Comfortable Room

Jasper Hotel is conveniently located next to Queen Victoria Market. This meant that even though breakfast was not included, there were ample breakfast choices available at Queen Victoria Market. It is also conveniently situated right next to a tram stop and is within walking/tram distance to all tourist spots as well as Sky Bus pick-up/drop-off to and from Melbourne Airport. Staff was friendly and extremely attentive to all possible needs. The room that we stayed in was comfortable with large bed and large bathroom. Perfect and ideal hotel choice in Melbourne.

Clean room and helpful staff. Great access to public transport and a walk to centre of Melbourne's CBD.

The Jasper is located in the northern part of Melbourne's CBD with access to ample transport options. My sister and I stayed for 2 nights to sample Melbourne. There is 24 hour reception and all the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. The Jasper Kitchen is great for breakfast and waitress who served our table was warm and friendly. For the price we paid our stay at the Jasper cannot be faulted.

We stayed in Melbourne at the Jasper Hotel for 3 days and were really pleased with our choice of hotel. The room was lovely, the location of the hotel was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast as part of our package and the food was delicious. The hotel is still undergoing renovation work but there was little noise early morning. We'd definitely use the Jasper again.

Location

The location of the hotel was fantastic. It was only a short walk (or a fast tram ride) to the centre of Melbourne. Located right next door to the Victoria St Markets made for an awesome mediterranean breakfast or afternoon snack(cheese, dips, olives, french bread etc) not to mention fresh oysters! The rooms were nice and given costs comparisions with other hotels our stay at the Jasper was very economical. The hotel is also a fantastic location if you are picking up a rental car as all the rental car agencies are a 2min walk (which means you don't need to cart your gear all over town).

Great Location helpful staff”

Its staff react quickly on our requests. Good service was provided. Location is great. 50 meters from Queen Victoria Markets.

We were located at the top floor as I'd asked for quiet room for us and my baby. First night the room's air cond did not work on heating, but it was quickly fixed after I informed the hotel staff about the issue. The rest of our stay was smooth. Staff is really helpful and quickly react on all your needs. Exterior of the hotel is impressing. Our floor was in green, but I read other comments that the hotel has a signature color for each floor. That is really cool! Pictures in the reception hall provide kind of atmosphere of art gallery. The best price-quality value I found for Melbourne CBD location.

Good position, clean room, Jaspers restaurant for breakfast

From the moment my friend and I arrived we were greeted by very friendly & professional staff, who gave great tips for our short stay in Melbourne. Our room was a deluxe twin and was spacious and clean. Loved the idea of the different coloured levels, when the elevator opened on the 4th floor each time we were greeted by a blaze of red. Jaspers breakfast was brilliant and started our day off perfectly. Only downside was on one night the council decided to dig up the road outside, but this was out of the hands of Jaspers. We will visit again no doubt.

Nice place for spending the night in the heart of the city”

Victoria Market is located less than 5 minutes walk away and there's a tram stop right outside the hotel. The closest train station is Melbourne Central and is around 10 minutes walk away. However, for those who drive here, there's no parking facilities available. The lowest cost parking is right across the road near Franklin St and charges are around $20-$30/ night. This hotel is more than 15 years old. Back in the late 1990s, this was once known as Hotel Y as it was under YMCA. We had stayed here before back during those Hotel Y days and it surely bring back lots of memories even when we came back to stay here under the new management of Jasper Hotel. Now that its been revamped by Jasper Hotel, room wise, the hotel room is very clean and cozy and bathroom is very nice as well. We did not regret coming back here after all and this stay was a very pleasant one. Highly recommended!

Wonderful hotel, wonderful location”

Well situated at the top end of Melbournes cbd. Great location, close to our car rental office. Room was at the front of the hotel with a large balcony area. The bar downstairs had a great view of what was going on in busy Melbourne with big opening sliding windows so you can soak up the atmosphere. Breakfast was eaten in the other half of the front bar and was a la carte. Beats queuing up, we would highly recommend this hotel when staying in Melbourne.

Convenience and Comfort”

The jasper is adjacent to the Victoria market, one of the most fantastic food, clothing, you name it markets I have ever visited. It is also close to the Lygon street restaurant row and some new and trendy restaurant areas. Transportation of all ssorts is just around the corner and it is within a five minute cab ride from Southern Cross train and coach station. The rooms are modern and well appointed. the reception staff more than willing to help with whatever needs you may have.
EAch floor is painted with a shockingly different color by the elevator entrance. This may help if you've come home far from sober and need a reminder that you have indeed selected the right floor, however, in the morning being faced with a brilliant pink, or irradescent green may prove a bit hard to take.

This is a hotel to remember, the prices are reasonable, free city circle trams and suburban trams are within a block of the hotel entrance. You can also step out and find within a ten to fifteen minute walk almost any type of ethnic restaurant you might want. Chinatown about a fifteen minute brisk walk is also available. For those with a penchant for museums the worlds only still functioning major nineteenth century exhibition hall is there adjacent to the melbourne Museum. tickets for one hour guided tours of the exhibition hall are available in the museum and, in my opinion are a don't miss opportunity. A bit further away is the Fedeeration Square and the Botanic Gardens. Both are within walking distance if one is so inclined but, should you feel a bit tired, are accesable via the free city circle red tram. If you're going to spend some time in Melbourne and want to see it all I believe this is a good launcing point.

W stayed as a couple for a few days while going to the Australian open. it was about 35 minutes walk from Melbourne Park although also an easy tram ride. The rooms are neat, clean, smallish but very adequate and service was always friendly and helpful There is no gym but you get free membership to a pool and gym a few minutes away. There was computer and printer available for free use as Internet access was not otherwise free in the rooms. We thought it good value for Melbourne CBD and would stay again.
