Safe, clean, friendly, and 45$ a night in NYC”

I had to book a last minute flight to NY and could not even find a couch in Williamsburg to sleep on. Air BnBs are an unknown factor at best and are only readily available at this price out in NJ. For 45$ a night, I wasn't expecting much, but it was very safe inside and out. I didn't have to worry about my bags at all since I had the option of storing them in the luggage room. It is also clean. You get new sheets everyday, the hallways are bedrooms were also clean. I slept in a 6 person room and everyone made an effort to be as quiet as possible, and no one turned on the light while others slept. Just wear earplugs to dampen the snoring and you'll be fine. Best of all, the staff there was very friendly and really helpful. I don't leave reviews unless I had a great experience somewhere, and after 7 nights I left NYC feeling like I absolutely made the best choice. Thanks to the staff at Jazz on the Park, I will definitely make this my go to place to stay.

    Exceptional”

I enjoy staying at this location when need be, the front desk staff is respectful and understanding. They give you clean sheets and warm blanket for you stay. The housekeeping is exceptional, a nice lady comes and changes the garbages and sheats. The showers are public but remain clean and smell like bleach which is a plus mid covid. I'd definitely recommend this place to someone traveling to New York or just looking for a warm place to stay for a night.

The kind of bathrooms that make you feel dirtier afterwards”

The hot water in the showers only seemed to work in one stall, which was always clogged. The showers were lined with age-old grime. The bathroom floors were littered with small bits of toilet paper and the sinks were dirty too. The security card system was finicky so I had to fuss with it for a minute each time I entered. As for location, it's a short walk from the C train, which is not super fast on weekends, and the Upper West Side is not the most convenient place to stay in Manhattan. On the bright side, not too far from La Guardia airport.

    Marvelous value for NYC! ”

The rooms aren't big, there are bunk beds in each - as far as I am aware - but the price is almost, if not impossible to beat. There is no WiFi in the rooms so make sure you have a mobile Hotspot on your phone. Aside from that I have no complaints. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. If what you are looking for is an inexpensive place to hang your hat and use as a base of operations and shared bathrooms don't scare you. You won't be disappointed

Great place to stay, with Central Park a block away, subway is around the corner, convenient stores and deli's down the street. They were very accommodating when I had an issue with my hostel mates in my room.

Hostel is near MRT station and just right across Central Park. I booked a female dorm room yet I have it all for myself. Really a great price considering how NYC is so expensive.

Not exactly clean, facilities are poor”

I was first shown to a room with 8 beds. There were hairs on the pillow and bedcovers. The pillow inside without the cover is yellow with spots. Later I was given another room with 6 beds. It is much cleaner without the hairs but still the pillows are spotty without the cover. The showers are either extremely hot or cold with curtains that barely cover the stall. The light in the room was dim, unlike the pictures. You'll need to get your own lock for the lockers in the room which is a bit annoying as they don't sell them either at the hostel. There's no water available in the room, only in the common room there's hot water. Location wise it is convenient, only 3 streets away from subway station. It takes about 15-20 min to get to downtown. Wifi is provided. Rooms are accessible with a swipe card. For this price the location is superb. But I'd rather pay a bit more for a cleaner hostel with better facilities

This place is good if you on a budget. Best location. The only thing I hate is the stairs, no elevators, and very limited with rooms with private bathroom. You need to share bathroom. Not enough bathrooms. No refrigerator in room, no microwave, no ice or kitchen in this building.

    Best for Saving money”

I used mixed 8-bed dorm room. It was on 5th floor. I will tell you briefly. What's in it? 4-Bunk bed, 1-Small table and chair, 1-Locker(9-people use) Pros: Cheap. If you are looking for place for just sleeping may it will fit for you. Close to Subway station. Just few min walk. Cons: No WiFi in Room but in Lobby you can use it. No AC. May feel hot on the night of summer. No privacy in bed room. Not even bulkhead so people and you may can see everyone who share the room with. Small locker. You may need to keep your stuff on your bed cause locker was small. No elevator. You need to climb the stairway. *Mixed means that bedroom can be shared with other gender. If you are a man, you may can see woman sleeping in the room where you booked. I did not know this. I thought... At least, man and woman use different bedroom on the same floor but it wasn't. *Shower and bathroom are shared with people who live on same floor.

    Very cheap but unbearable room”

The room I stayed in had a sign saying that by law only 6 adults were allowed to sleep there. There was always about 8 in total during my stay. Because it was winter the heater was on but in this room There is no ventilation or extraction so it was unbearably hot and stunk of other people's smell and the air was horrible to breath. Pay more and get a better place if you have the chance.

Just a regular, nothing special dorm.”

The staff was kind and nice, and the room was pretty quiet during the night. Plus the bed was very soft, like a memory form. I personally liked it, but anyone who prefers tight bet won’t like it. The shower room was not clean enough and was a little uncomfortable for me. Water was extremely cold or extremely hot, no warm water when I used it. Maybe it’s because I used it at 1 am. Plus the air conditioner inside 2 bed dorm was noisy as hell. Had to turn it off while I’m sleeping. Overall, it was a regular dorm. Nobody expects decent quality from dormitories so maybe it doesn’t matter. For a one or two night bed with low budget, I’d recommend it. But not as a nice place.n
