We stayed in the Arabian tent accommodation, it's very basic for the money you pay, you are paying for the location being at the top of the mountain. Disappointed that the rooms had 3 single beds in each of them after requesting the large beds. there were no other people staying in the tent accommodation so I'm not sure why this request wasn't met as we had large bed last time. The food was good and the staff very pleasant.
Great location and friendly staff”
Because of the strong wind we were moved from the tent we had booked to a little one room house. As long as the sun was shining the little terrace was nice. Then it got really cold and the eletric heating in the room did not have a lot of effect, thus it was too cold.
Nice resort with Friendly staff”
Stayed her on a second trip to Jebel Shams; stayed in Sama Heights previously. This was much better from the moment we arrived. The rooms were clean and well presented although a little dated and fairly small bathrooms. The breakfast and dinner were very good and way better than Sama Heights. In fact everything in the resort worked and my mother-in-law even used the pool (December) and loved it. The staff made they stay and were very friendly and helpful. We will be regulars to Jebel Shams and will be using this resort every time.
Hi ....a lovely experience. We paid for the ”
Just two things that upset us. The Shell station in El Hambra is a terrible meeting point if you have to wait for a taxi. On the way down our driver brought a friend without consulting us and he grabbed the front seat. We thought this very bad manners.
Jebel Shams Resort”
Very accommodating staff upgraded my group to Private Chalets from which we could see the sunset from our terraces. Food was good value for the price, i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets in a very remote location. Very close to the Rim Walk in Jebel Shams. Rooms were clean and had everything necessary. Mattress was a bit uncomfortable.
This is great place.”
This is a beautiful resort. Sunset was fantastic and breakfast was good.
On top of the mountain”
The Location of the Camp is Great. After a Short Walk you have a wonderfull view over the canyon. The Sunrise room was clean but simple set up. Dinner was good.Unfortunately we were Not aware that they dont sell alcohol over there- so we missed the „sundowner“ Overall a good experience
Could. be great, but...”
The location is the big attraction: if you want to stay next to the canyon for sunset/sunrise for the fantastic walking in the area, you have little choice.. It seems they know this - there was a slight feeling about the place that they’re doing you a favour. Eg Our chalet was really cold. We needed 2 space heaters to get warm - just! The room wasn’t serviced. We had to ask for clean towels, coffee & water. The WiFi didn’t work. Breakfast was a bit different, but meals are buffet style & essentially the same. The gates are locked overnight, which made getting out for sunrise & back in a real pain. Maybe we were just unlucky, but, despite the weather being great in the canyon, it was cold/windy throughout our stay. We wanted to rent bikes for the afternoon, but we felt that 5 rials/hr per bike was prohibitively expensive. It would’ve cost us $100. We stayed 2 nights. It’s expensive for what you get - in hindsight, we’d have been better off fitting it into 1 night.
A superb location. Absolutely stunning. Food is reasonable, and staff are helpful. Feels a little bit run down, and the furnishings in the rooms a little tired. Wouldn’t take much to really improve the place
great, super location nearby the balcony walk
Scenic mountain camp”
Great spot to stay on Jebel Shams close to the starting point of the W6 hike above An Nakhur gorge. Fantastic mountain scenery. It is a nice experience to sleep in one of the tents equipped with comfy beds and own bathrooms. The tents are, however, rather basic and a bit cold at night and therefore slightly overpriced. The restaurant serves decent food for breakfast and dinner (both buffet). There is also a nice small swimming pool.
This is a really special place, loved our stay there”
We only had one night there but it was really lovely, apart from the amazing position, the accommodation was superb, really comfy and very clean...the food was excellent and everyone so friendly..definitely a Whow place after dinner with the beautiful sky..exceptional..one small tip is if you going in December, January etc you need warm clothes...we were really cold outside, but rooms have heaters, would have liked a blanket each provided by resort to enable us to sit outside longer but not a criticism..
We have stayed one night at Jebel Shams resort to do hiking in the nearby hiking routes. The location of the resort is very nice and 3 km away from the route of the "Balcony walk" hiking path. The dinner was excellent and the stuff as well.
Good vibes in Jebel Shams resort”
We did enjoy our one night stay in the resort. The location is amazing and peaceful. Rooms are nice and bed is comfortable. Also the food (buffet) is very decent. wifi available at the reception desk and poor quality. This was disappointing but somehow good to really disconnect ? Staff s friendly but not able to help on providing recommendations on the small treks around nor on the tracks to take with a 4WD
Comfortable accommodation in beautiful location”
Jebel Shams Resort is a well maintained, clean and comfortable accommodation in a stunning location, the food ( cooked dinner) is local and very good. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, visitors feel welcome. I am very happy to recommend Jebel Shams Resort.
Location is very nice and we liked our private terrace. Diner and breakfast were good. Swimming pool was too cold to go for a swim but was nice and clean. There was something wrong with the heater in the room so a bit cold at night.
Location ok, cleanliness (facilities) could be better”
Pro: - the ride to Jebel Shames is spectacular (absolutely needs 4x4 car) - the boss was friendly and the rest of the staff is friendly and maybe a little shy. Cons: - one matress in our room had a blood stain under the linen (we could see it through the linen) - given the smell in the bathroom we could see that the shower had not been used in quite a while (if they had let run a little water, the smell would have vanished for some time). more than obvious that facilities are due to some renovation... all summed up: I would not recommend to go there for a night's stay but if you have time and like adentourous driving in 4x4 it is worth while anyway.
The resort is situated right where you want to be to get great views of 'The Grand Canyon', which is just a short walk round the corner. There are also stunning views of the mountains at sunset from right behind the resort. It's beautiful. We stayed in a Mountain Lodge room, which was pretty basic, but comfortable and clean. The food was good for both dinner and breakfast. The swimming pool was absolutely freezing though!
Great resort to escape summer heat”
Great place to stay, very clean, good location, good facilities, great value for money. Only 2 drawbacks: Rooms get quite hot without AC even though outside is cool, food at breakfast and dinner is average, I recommend to bring your own and do some BBQ.
Unforgetable Jebel Shams”
It is an unforgetable stay at Jebel Shams Resort. The surrounding scenary and view are amazing. 4WD is the best way to reah the resort as there are steep turns and slopes along the 7km dirt road. There are trekking trails located near to the resort such as Balcony Walk trek No. W6. We got the chance to see the night sky full of stars and milky way in the early morning of 3.00am. Resort staff are friednly and helpful. We hope Jebel Shams Resort could improve their WiFi internet connection as it was totally no connection.
