extraordinary”
Jetwing Vil Uyana was perfectly located to access Sigyria Rock. We selected a Paddy Dwelling over the period 1/16/2012 - 1/18/2012 at a cost of (not incl taxes). The hotel was extraordinary from the moment we drove to the front gate. We asked for a non-smoking room and was allocated the room as desired. The reception and service staff were friendly and professional and, most importantly, the rooms were stylish and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfy. Breakfast, included in the price, was beautifully presented and ample. As a boutique hotel, the Jetwing Vil Uyana is perfect for a romantic holiday or for those just wanting to relax. However, it is not too pompous to forget to be family friendly. An amzing hotel that I would recommend to anyone. p.s. the plunge pools are delightful...

Wonderful Stay!”
We had an amazing stay in this beautiful hotel. Set in a stunning location and just 2 hours drive from Kandy. Went on an elephant safari and climbed Lions Rock in Sigiriya which was mind blowing - advanced ancient civilisation we knew nothing about. We also got engaged at the top, which made it even better. The staff were all lovely, but special thanks go to Chaminda Jayasekara who went out of his way, using his photography skills to take photos of us as we climbed the rock and got engaged (at no extra cost). The hotel also made us an engagement cake which was a really lovely touch. All in all, a wonderful stay, highly recommended. We can't wait to go back! Thanks Jetwing Vil Uyana, Tim & Maha

An amazing experience!”
My partner and I stayed at the Jetwing Vil Uyana for three nights in Mid July. The hotel has an amazing wow factor from the moment you arrive with breathtaking views. The reception, library, lounge and restaurant areas were all open-sided looking directly out over the grounds/lake with a fabulous layout. Our room was the basic standard room semi-detached villa which was much more affordable than the other villas. The bedroom was large and included everything you could want. The bathroom was amazing with the bath & shower located in an open air section of the room....while this did lead to a visit from the odd bat, gecko, frog and insects, these only added to the whole experience. There was also a large veranda to the front. It was extremely quiet except for the sounds of nature. Lovely gravel paths swooped around the entire complex between each villa and walking to the pool/restaurant was always fun as you were sure to pass a pea cock or other birds on the way. Golf cart transport was at your beck & call to whisk you around if you needed it. The pool was very much in keeping with the whole theme of the hotel and looked out over the lake and through the downstairs sections of the hotel. The restaurant (upstairs) again was open sided and this lead to a fabulous breeze flowing through the large room and a real feel of being in touch with nature as you dined. The food was very good; breakfasts were a la carte and not the usual buffet and were gorgeous. We opted for the dinner set menu each night which was extremely good value for such gourmet food. The wines however were very expensive, with the cheapest bottle of wine costing more than dinner for two.....this needs to be addressed. The pool, bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff could not have been nicer and worked so hard to do everything they possibly could for you. I would however mention that the reception staff were not very pleasant and the whole place lacked serious management with a walking femal

Luxury boutique nature lovers paradise”
The Jetwing Vil Uyana is most definitely one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, with the perfect blend of small luxury boutique hotel meets and blends in with nature. We stayed in one of the standard rooms which was far from standard in nature, spacious, luxurious, beautifully designed and furnished with a semi-open air bathroom complete with lilly ponds, tropical fish, a resident gecko and occasional peacock. It was a short walk to the main lodge for superb dinners and breakfasts in the restaurant overlooking the lake. We were looked after very well - the service could not be faulted. The menus for both dinner and breakfast were extensive and covered a good range of western and Sri Lankan options, high quality dining in a fantastic setting for a very reasonable price. The only slight downside was that the trips and tours arranged by the hotel were very expensive.

Hidden gem for a rural luxury eco-lodge experience”
The Jetwing Vil Uyana was definitely the highlight of our time in Sri Lanka. We were referred here from an article claiming it was one of the best eco-lodges in the world and we don't doubt that claim. We stayed in a standard room, which was a self-contained unit, while they also had beautiful villas, some built on stilts, around the grounds. Our room was spacious, with a semi-outdoor shower area and patio area with couches. The staff were all great - inviting and attentive, but low-pressure. The infinity pool right next to the river, with the wildlife all around made you feel like you were in nature without any inconveniences. The restaurant's decor was tasteful and warm, while the food (we had the chef's set menu) was fantastic! They obviously have a great chef working there, even in the off-season when we were there. It is definitely a place that we will stay at for future visits to Sri Lanka.

Excellent room and service in a beautiful setting”
i have been living in sri lanka for about 6 months and a friend came to visit. during his stay, we did some traveling around the country. our last two nights were spent at the jetwing vil uyana. i had booked a "standard" room, which is different from the bungalow type rooms that are more common on the premises (and more expensive). our "standard" room was a great value and was anything but standard. the room was beautiful and large with comfortable beds. the bathroom was a beautiful open space with a great soaking tub and wonderful open air rain shower. each room feels secluded and is surrounded by the natural environment. this is a very peaceful and tranquil location. i think nature lovers will really appreciate it. the food was not cheap but very good. very high quality and some of the best i've had in sri lanka. the pool and common areas were also very comfortable and inviting.

Excellent hotel with fantastic service”
Vil Uyana is one of the best places we have ever stayed in. The setting is perfect in very natural and quiet surroundings. The bungalows are fairly scattered from each other, which gives you a lot of privacy. Inside the bungalows, the decor is lovely. Rooms are extremely large and comfortable with everything you need and more. The service all around the hotel was fantastic, as was the food in the lovely restaurant. The only complaint is that because of this, we ended up eating so much and gaining weight! All the main attractions in the area are within suitable distance from the hotel - Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Dambulla and Kandy. This is a great place to make as your base for day trips out to the surrounding areas, but make sure you also save some time to relax by the pool and read in the library area, which has a lovely view over the water from comfy sofas.

Wonderful eco-friendly get-away”
We had a wonderful three-night stay at the Jetwing Vil Uyana in October 2010. The hotel is extremely peaceful. You are surrounded by nature--wild peacocks, monkeys, even the local crocodile--yet can enjoy all the luxuries of a 5 star hotel. We loved having our own pool at our forest dwelling and we did not feel at all cramped, even though we were two adults and two small children sharing one bedroom. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. And the location of the hotel can't be beat: a manageable drive to three gems of the Cultural Triangle. We loved it!

Fabulous hotel”
We spent one night at Jetwing Vil Uyana and it was enough to appreciate just how lovely this hotel is. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The setting is extremely tranquil and the layout of the hotel creates an all round atmosphere of relaxation and calm. The outdoor swimming pool is beautiful. Our room was spacious and tastefully decorated. It was a pleasure to stay there and definitely one of the highlights of our holiday.

Beautiful hotel in a serene setting”
Apart from the weather, our stay at Jetwing Vil Uyana was just about perfect with friendly staff, great breakfasts and room. Wished we could stay longer than 2 nights to spend time at the hotel, but too much to do and see in the Cultural Triangle, where the hotel is set.

Honeymoon”
We stopped in Sigiriya for 2 nights to see the rock and an elephant safari. We got more than we asked for from this beautiful resort. Just note that the Sigiriya airport is closed for a few more weeks and we ended up flying to the Air Force base which was a 45min ride. We had a nice taxi driver Danusha who was very helpful the entire time. The hotel staff was extremely friendly, the grounds were very cool. Lots of wildlife and the feel of the grounds was amazing. The food was really good. The breakfast was included and they had great options. They even served us lunch near the pool just by asking for it. We had a forest villa. It had the most comfortable bed I could ask for. Slept like a baby. The room was spotless and whenever we asked for something it came right away. We did the Slendor Loris trek at night and our guide found 4 of them. Very cool to be hunting the grounds in search of them. I travel a lot and was a bit worried about how this stop on our honeymoon agenda was going to go, but we both absolutely loved it. There are no atms there, so get money before.

Gorgeous, natural setting”
we loved our stay at the jetwing which is in close proximity to the sigiriya rock. it's worth it to splurge on the paddy villa with private plunge pool- the plunge pool was a fairly good size and was a delightful and cooling perk. the 2-story villa has a nice layout out with an open-air downstairs bathroom and shower, with an air conditioned sleeping area upstairs. we loved the natural setting where you can hear/watch birds all around.

Lived up to high expectations”
Excellent place - stayed in the garden villa rooms (cheapest) and it was still secluded and lovely with the best/biggest bathroom we have ever had and 2 outside private areas to relax in. The more expensive rooms have private pools but the pool by the main hotel area/lake was great and not very busy when we stayed. Food/drink is not cheap by Sri Lankan standards but is very good and not dissimilar in price when compared to other hotels of this standard in the country. Overall, Vil Uyana justifies the hype!

All the glowing reviews are true!”
My friends and I very much enjoyed our visit to Jetwing Vil Uyana. The standard of the rooms and common areas met our expectations of a 5 star hotel, however it was the quality of the food and beverage that most impressed us. Since the hotel is located about a kilometre from the nearest main road, dining options are limited. However, it provided high quality fare at reasonable prices, including an outstanding breakfast with a wide range of options.

Magical setting”
We had a very relaxing stay at this beautiful property. The villas were gorgeous, staff were very friendly and the food was good and reasonably priced. The pool was fabulous and we enjoyed spending hours in the library overlooking the inland lake. The hotel is located near Sigiriya rock which is a must visit!

Great weekend away!”
We only stayed in Vil Uyana for one night (unfortunately) but loved our bungalow and would definitely recommend it!! Only "drawback" was that we booked the Forrest Dwelling, which has two levels, thinking our two kids (aged 4 and 6) could sleep down stairs, but down stairs are open to mosquitos and basically a large open bathroom. The upstairs bedroom had ample space for our family however and the private pool was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us.. We ordered room service and spend the afternoon next to the pool - lovely! The dinner was delicious (so great that it was not another buffet!) and they had "child friendly" meals which got delivered quickly for hungry little ones. All and all a fabulous stay - would go back in a flash!

Beautiful rooms, amazing setting, friendly staff”
This is an absolutely amazing hotel complex. Set on marsh land the villas are large, spacious and beautifully designed. As soon as you step in you feel relaxed and on holiday. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and it is hard to fault anything about Vil Uyana. Maybe a better set of DVDs?!

One word - Awesome”
Recommended by a friend, we were told we had to stay here, they were right. This place is amazing. 15 min drive from world heritage site Sigiriya. Set on paddy fields and marshes, this hotel is as luxurious as we've ever stayed in. Spa, gym, plunge pool and library all on site. As well as the swimming pool, restaurant and bar. We had a double room which is one of the cheaper ones on offer so we missed out on a view over the water. But we did still get a huge bedroom and outside bathroom that made you wonder why all bathrooms aren't outside! We did try upgrading the room but the hotel was fully booked - understandable once you've seen the place. One night was not long enough here but regardless of how long you have, my advice is get the best room possible, I don't believe you'll be disappointed. The only marks they lost were on service and this was down to the restaurant serving staff who were a little flatter than everyone else. Other than that it would've been a perfect score. Can't recommend highly enough. Just go.

A two day getaway with friends.”
Loved my stay at Vil Uyana! A luxury boutique hotel with lots of wildlife at the doorstep. Only one negative when checking out, desk clerks couldn't get card machines to work, had to try 3 different bank cards / credit cards, although all 3 worked fine when used in Colombo the next day.

Fantastic location with friendly staff”
We stayed in one of the rice padi villas which was near enough to the hotel to be convenient but far enough to be private. The room itself was sympathetic to the surrounding environment and very spacious. To be critical we would say the only downsides were that the room was a bit tired looking and the shower was blocked flooding the 'bathroom' a bit but all in all still charming. The food was fantastic. We would also recommend enjoying a sundowner in the library while checking out nature in the raw in the hotel pond/lake next to the hotel. Note that we only stayed for two nights and used the hotel as a base for excursions to Polonaruwa and Sigiriya hikes so we didn't get a chance to check out the naturalist or other services provided.
