Good location, clean hotel with nice environment”

Pros -Room is clean. -Location is good which is just right besides the Guanqian shopping street. -Hotel interior environment is nice. Cons-Room 1139 -Pillow is too flat. -Every morning between 7~9am, the continuous loud bang noise from the closing of the main door is really bad. Not sure if it is caused by the customers next door or they are cleaning up the room. It have affected my rest.

Beautiful and comfortable hotel, great location!”

Affordable, beautiful chinese garden, well furnished rooms, clean and comfortable

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in my 2 weeks in China. Firstly, we booked the hotel under Agoda deal and it was really affordable and more than value for money for what we enjoyed. Next, great location, it is just 6 bus stops away from the Suzhou railway station, it is next to famous shopping street Guan Qian Street and a food street, it faces a canal which looks beautiful and serene, and it is within walking distance to the attractions like Suzhou Museum, Humble Administrator Garden, and Lion Grove. When we reached the entrance of the hotel, the hotel security/doorman immediately helped us with our luggage. Check in was smooth and efficient. Although the staff weren't too smiley, they were professional. We were then led to the lift to our hotel room. On the way to the lift, we passed by the chinese garden within the hotel, lovely decor with a swing and groves. Upon entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised by the interior furnishing. High ceilings with oriental furbishing (e.g. the desk looks like an ancient scholar's desk). On the king bed, there were 4 pillows and 2 cushions, with very comfy quilts. The bathroom was clean and bright too. Cable television that screens international channels, like Singapore's Channel News Asia, Korea's KBS channel etc. Every evening in the garden, a lady will be playing chinese music on her Guzheng (a chinese instrument). Very relaxing. Wifi is only available in the lobby but it could be quite intermittent at times. Besides that, it is really an awesome and beautiful hotel that is totally worth the money.

The small garden in the hotel is great. Saved my vacation from crowd. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the decorate noise from "next door store". It's so irritation when the drill noise wake you up in a vacation morning.

    location, design, comfort

Our family love this hotel! it's located right next to the main commercial street of Suzhou, GuanQianJie and there's a bus stop right in front of the hotel. There's a traditional chinese garden in the middle of the hotel yet the rooms are pretty modern and comfy. Can't find anything to complain.

    Location, price

The rooms are equipped with only basic furnishings. Do note that for the newer rooms, the toilet doors are poorly designed - they were semi transparent, which means that your roommate will be able to see you doing your toilet business. The older rooms had normal wooden doors. Not all rooms have safes, only the more expensive one have safes and these safes are mostly either out of battery or spoilt. We had to change a few safes to get a working one. Calls to receptionist for assistant on the safe were slow.

Pretty hotel, comfortable but room facilities old”

Chinese-style garden, very close to major attractions, quiet room upon request.

Hotel is in good condition but with some areas of facilities that could be a bit out-of-date. For example, old bathroom with stain on the tub and mold on silicon edge filling. Staff are very friendly and hotel is sitting right at Guan Qian Street district, a major place to do shopping at. Considering coming back next time when re-visiting Suzhou.

    Fantastic stay with nice design”

Centrally location, very clean hotel, walking distance to nightlife

We really like this hotel because of the location. And it is very near to Suzhou train station which we can easily go to Shanghai. The only things that we feel unsatisfy is their staff service at receptionist. They did not assist us to call for cab when we check out to Suzhou train station but ask us to call on our own, which is quite impossible for tourist because we do not have hand phone.

Close to food and shopping outlets”

    Location and atmospheric gardens

The stay was generally fine, although the rooms were a bit dated and had a musty smell. There is also no breakfast provided. It is conveniently situated next to Ping Jiang Street (Tai Jian Nong) and Guan Qian Jie, which are the main food and shopping streets respectively in Suzhou. The taxi drivers are not familiar with the hotel's new name, hence we used the hotel's previous name (Su Zhou Ren Jia) - which is also prominently featured in a signboard outside the hotel. We were also grateful for the honest staff - my father left his wallet at the lobby and it was picked up by one of the cleaning attendants. He refused to accept our reward as a token of appreciation. The reception staff also exercised due diligence by verifying my father's identity before returning the wallet. The hotel also had some nice gardens and piped-in Chinese classical music in the corridors.

Excelent value for money. The hotel is in a central location in the old town. Within walking distance to most sights. Also near a metro station. The staff were helpful and if they didn't know what you were saying they used google translate to help. The hotel has three beautiful gardens and there was a nice vire from the room. We were able to walk to Master of the Nets garden and other local attractions.

    Chinese Gardens (园林),Price,Cleanliness

We stayed at the Superior Twin room at Level 2, facing a back alley. Room is ok. Clean. No mini bar/refrigerator. Cost 550rmb. We were told that the rooms facing the garden would cost 650rmb. The location of this hotel is superb. Next to Guan Qian Jie where many shops and restaurants are located. It is also near to many of the attractions. Distant from the Suzhou Train Station (from Shanghai) is about 10 mins and 15rmb via taxi. Taxi to the Suzhou North Train Station (High Speed Rail to Beijing) cost 78rmb via taxi. The Gardens were great. They have several gardens around the hotel grounds and each garden are quite different from the other. I really liked the environment of the hotel. The front desk recommended us to go to a spa nearby and it was one of the best foot spa I've been to. Clean and good massage.

    Extended my stay”

    Location, price, ambience

Got a great room for the price, and extended my stay. Excellent location for travelers who want to visit Suzhou's major sights. Very outdated business center and non-functional fitness center. The key is what room you get - most rooms have great garden views, but some look over a parking lot or an ugly building. If you get the latter, ask for a change. Rooms that look over the central garden however are a lot more expensive.

    Great location, and unique setting”

    The beautiful garden hotel

My first time to Suzhou I never know what to expect. All I am looking for is to stay in a unique Chinese style hotel in the older part of the city. At first glance at the entrance as I first got out of the Taxi, I knew I was in the right place. The hotel is located on the side of a small creek, completed with ancient cross walk bridges to the more commercial main road. The bellboy was very eager to help me out of the Taxi just like any 5 star hotel service. Enter in the lobby of the hotel, it is not grand, but was immediately being drawn to the garden courtyard beyond. I thought it is an old hotel, the fact is that the hotel been renovated with the comfort of modern facilities. There are hallways and building at each turn you fell like you are in a movie set completed with decorated Chinese style garden, even it is in the middle of the winter. The garden was still beautiful and full of life. If you are looking for a slightly different hotel stay than the major western hotels I highly recommended this one. Plus two of the most famous Suzhou restaurant is just down the road, and also a beautiful ancient temple to visit as well.

Location is good but old hotel”

    Location location location

Checked in on 17/10. Heard about this hotel from other travellers' forum but was quite disappointed with the room. Hotel is decorated well externally and has a boutique chinese styled garden, just like those you can find in Suzhou. The room itself however is old and stinky. There was a strong unpleasant smell of fragrance in the air which seemed to have been sprayed by the staff to try to cover the stinky smell. The room was also carpeted but not quite well maintained. One night was the maximum we could bear and the city itself was over commercialized too therefore we left early the next morning and was surprised to find the modern side of the city at the east of jinjihu. You can take the newly built metro near the hotel to get there and we wish we had stayed on that side in the modern hotels rather than this old worn out building.

had a very pleasant stay here - location was great, and the room was very comfortable. only criticism was that the hotel advertises itself as providing a fitness centre/gym - this in reality equates to a small room with a couple of squeaky treadmills and a pair of dumbbells...
