Themed Hotel in a Chinese Style Courtyard. Living in a novel experience. The rooms were big, well ventilated and even the toilet facilities were excellent. Just don't expect a great International Breakfast Buffet Spread. The area is quite an interesting one to live in, living in among the locals, what Major Hotel Chain guests usually won't experience. However, because of its location in a small alley, getting Didi Chuxing (Ride Hailing App) is quite a nightmare. Firstly, it's hard to get a ride, most drivers won't accept. Secondly, navigating the narrow lanes is a nightmare, so even when the app indicates that the driver will reach in 5 minutes, the wait is actually somewhere around 20 minutes, and as a result, I was late to some of my appointments. The area is also quite dusty as many of the locals are doing construction work around, and when the winds kick in, you get all the sand and dust on your body, your face and your clothes. Not ideal for Business Travellers.

          Courtyard in Hutong”
We spent four nights in this hotel. We found the location to be really lovely within the atmospheric quarter of the Hutong. The staff were friendly and helpful, even at 3.00am after our plane was delayed. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to our friends. Carys and Pete UK

An authentic experience of living in the past with all the modern conveniences , yet quiet ,friendly”
I highly recommend this small courtyard hotel of only 6 rooms. It is in the "hutong' area, the old city style , and is popular for photo shoots! It is truely authentic, beautifully restored, peaceful atmosphere that feels "homey" and has all modern conveniences. Comfy beds. The staff are helpful and friendly and the "western breakfast" is a simple but adequate egg and jam and toast, yet the "chinese breakfast' is very generous and yummy, includes congee and dumplings. The location is excellent , a short walk to small bars and restaurants and shops.. and not too far away from the city sights like The Tienanmen square and Forbidden city , a reasonable cost taxi ride or hour walk. The only tricky bit is finding your way to the hotel the first time. Vehicles do drive through these 'alleyways" but it requires driver skill and patience.. it would be good to ask the hotel to send you directions written in chinese characters to give to a taxi driver.

Cute place in the Hutong District.”
A small but nice room and bathroom surrounding a court yard in the Historic Hutong district. The staff were friendly but because of limited english not overly helpful. they served a complementary breakfast every morning. My only complaint , I had a prepaid booking but had to change my plans ,so there were two nights I had payed for that I no longer needed. Because I payed through a booking agency the staff seemed unable to refund my money and because of the language problem I didn't pursue it further. Maybe I can do something about that at this end with agoda.

Lovely little guest house in the back streets of Beijing”
If you like big modern and flashy western style hotels then this is definitely not for you. On the other hand if you like to get a feel of real Beijing, living amongst real people in a location within walking distance of the main attractions, you'll like this place. "Oscar" and "Ecoh" (anglised names!) made us feel very welcome, and were very helpful in all respects. The room was a good size, massive bed, clean tidy and with all mod cons. 10 mins from the Metro, I'm the Forbidden City is walkable. Note of caution: check the location very carefully, the map on the hotel website isn't accurate. Google Maps has the right location (but can't be used in China without a VPN). Maps.me has it listed one street south of its actual location.

          Access issues”
Overpriced and one of the less satisfactory hutong hotels stayed in - to the extent that I changed hotels early. it is a home stay rather than an hotel, The hotel service was good but this place is over priced in comparison to others. A major problem was the lack of taxi access to the door (a big problem if carrying heavy bags.)

The renovation was not completed on the day we arrived and we were put to another facilities under the hotel branch. So I can't tell much about the actual Ji House. However, service is good. Location is good as well except taxi cannot drop you at the door. You need to walk 50m from the small alley on which taxi can squeeze in

          Great Little Hutong Hotel”
          Charming, Historic, Location
We really enjoyed this little hotel. It was a little tricky to find, but well worth it. Be prepared to be dropped off via taxi outside Hutong lanes and you'll need to walk in about 10 minutes or so. The rooms were lovely, and bathrooms quite nice. Very authentic restoration done to the interior. My only feedback for hotel is they gave us a flimsy piece of paper to get back to hotel in a taxi. Most taxi driver's could not read it and it disintegrated in rain we had that night. Please have real business cards printed with small map. If you are staying at hotel, consider having a location map printed before.

          authentic character, quiet + comfortable
It was not the easiest place to find but a real refuge once inside away from the busy noisy outside world. The Chinese breakfast option was brilliant and plentiful but the western breakfast was just a fried egg and toast. We were very comfortable and the staff very helpful although it was not possible for them to order a taxi and we had to walk up to the main road with all our bags and wait until we could flag one down. We loved our stay here!

A Very Pretty, Traditional Beijing Siheyuan Hotel”
Beautifully done up, inside traditional hutong & close to Nanluoguxiang
A delightful Beijing residential place run by a local resident. It's been done up a few years ago but maintains the traditional look. Close to the market lane (BeiLuoGuXiang) and there's a nice park close by along the North 2nd Ring Rd. There're a lot of nice bars and cafe along the streets as well (a lot of foreigners settled in the area). For breakfast there are Chinese (congee, Chinese Crullers, pickels, meat buns, egg) & Oriental Breakfast (toasts & milk) on offer, which aren't too bad. If you're travelling by Metro alight at AnDingMen. We got off at GuLouDaJie & we had to find the place in dark narrow alleys. Print out/save a Google map on phone as it will become handy, esp. taxi won't take you into the alleys. Room is clean with high ceilings which you'd expect from traditional Beijing houses, with a beautiful garden in the middle of the whole settlement. It is a bit expensive, but totally worth it if you want to experience the traditional, authentic way of life Beijing people live.
