Think before you book!”
This hotel has the potential to be a 3*+, but lack of management and proper maintenance allowed it to be 'run down', I would be generous to give it 2*! It is a good 5-10mins walk form the nearest metro station, passing a busy junction, with no non-smoking floors, no complementary coffee/tea (it has free Chinese tea bags), barely working air cond., and unappetising Chinese orientated complimentary breakfast! The only saving grace is that it as a high quality wipe clean vinyl floor, high ceiling, slide open windows, and easy to find a taxi due to its close proximity to a popular filling station! So think before you choose this.

Standard Asian business hotel”
location, affordable, hot shower
Book a hotel at Jiu Gong only if you have business in the Minhang area, which is located in the outskirts of Shanghai and is a kilometer from the Minhang industrial zone where factories and production facilities are located. The hotel isn't very well known so taking a cab from Pudong International is not only expensive but most drivers will have trouble finding it. Take the tube whenever possible since it's much cheaper. Jiu Gong is just next to Line 5 Chunshen station. Checking in can be difficult since only a handful of the staff are familiar with Agoda. In my last two visits to Jiu Gong, the front desk wasn't sure whether to charge me or not. Ideally, you should have a Chinese companion or can call a Chinese-speaking friend by mobile in case you encounter issues. The room size is typical of Asian business hotels and you should pay for Internet only if you really need it. Request for blankets especially during the cold Shanghai winter. Ask for assistance if you can't figure out the Chinese airconditioning remote control. The Chinese breakfast is wholesome but definitely not for everyone, especially Westerners expecting an intercontinental meal. If you did pay for the breakfast, get the stubs from the front desk when you check in.
