Rooms are clean
Rooms and shared bathrooms are clean and tidy, but just some noisy guests playing music or chatting/shouting outside my window at 4 in the morning! I couldn't sleep well every night, suggest staff set some rules for guests to be considerate for and respect others

Overpriced, bare bones, focused on selling tours
Daily shuttle to city (NOT AIRPORT), Nice Staff, Tons of tour flyers
We've backpacked all over SEA, NZ and Australia and this hostel is the worst value for the money and expensive once you factor in the cost of all the extras you thought were included and are not: No Airport shuttle (JJs keeps $5 for making a phone call, then you pay the taxi/shuttle $15), 'breakfast' is toast and jam (it runs out early and that's it - we had to purchase our own breakfast food to cook on our own), kitchen cookware is falling apart, wifi is abysmal if it works (doesn't work in rooms or inside lounge area, only works at outside patio), no hand soap in bathrooms, kitchen sponges were old and grimy. The Bad The staff is nice, but focuses more on selling tours rather than providing quality extras (hand soap, clean sponges, airport shuttle) and a fun, social hostel environment - nobody really hung out and talked. Office closes for 4 hours in the middle of the day, so if you have an issue it has to wait plus you can't check in. Air conditioner worked poorly. The flooring is carpet in both hallways and rooms, so there is a musty smell. The Good Staff is very nice. Free shuttle to downtown that leaves every couple hours. Fresh paint on walls. Area and staff felt safe and honest - no concerns of stuff being stolen or being an alone female. Conclusion: Way too much money for the experience. If the price was less for a private with shared bath, proper breakfast and no $5 fees to call for rides it would be a good hostel. My advice is to stay elsewhere.
