I spent one night at the Residence on transit out of Johannesburg which was a charming experience. As a solo traveller I always prefer to stay in a 5 star hotel chain which I did on arrival into J’burg but decided to experiment the Residence simply due to the high recommendation & reviews read on the travel sites ! Loved the intimacy & romance of the property with top notch five star service. My personal view is it’s over the top, loud & ostentatious.... Nevertheless it doesn’t take off the comfort, plush surroundings & the serenity.

My second stay here after a hiatus of one year. Things are still good and well-maintained. Staff is excellent and complimentary breakfast at Immigrant is great too. Will call Uber taxis for you, help you with itinerary planning, and locating places of interest in general. Walkable from Johannesburg Park Station. Lots of eating and partying places around and much energy in the air!! I would stay here again when in the area. One suggestion to management: do check-ins as rooms get done, rather than at exactly 14:00.

When we arrived in Johannesburg after a long flight, we got our rental car and drove directly to The Reef. The staff there was exceptional friedly and took every opportunity to make our stay more comfortable- always with a warm smile. We are ourselves front office manager and chef in a hotel in Switzerland - we found nothing to complain about. This is a good hotel in South Africa which is absolutely worth its 4 stars. You should ask the concierge team what to do in the surrounding. We only wanted to do a small tour as we've been tired after the long journey. Quincey guided us personally and was eager to give us some interesting information. The lady who prepared our omelettes did an outstanding job and demonstrated so much enjoyment proudness with her big smile. - it was great to see that she loves her job as much as we do ours. Thanks a lot to all of The Reef's staff for making us feel welcome to South Africa at the beginning of our journey

B.R.: Neat + Excel.(07:0–09:0/10:0)contains: Diff eggs+ (Meats+ mushroom+ beans+ vegt.) + open buffet (Toast+ bread+ croissant+ muffin/ jam+ butter+ sauces/ fresh juice+ mixed fruit salad/ yogurt+ milk+ cornflakes)... STAFF: Maybe the owner w. some slight nervous but, He is straight honest good man & helpful+ his assistances are v. good & love hotel+ semi 24/7... CONCLUSION: Hotel more than excellent but, the problem for tourists& foreigners& (some locals): No import. attractions & no safe in C.C.

the villa simonne had changed my whole outlook on johannesburg and hotels. this is where i will definitely be staying for any and all visits to this city. there is a level or personalized care and service that i have only ever found in my own home. the gardens and rooms are beautiful to the point of being literally jaw-dropping. i did not want to leave the sanctuary of the hotel at all. i recommend this place to anybody looking for that extra mile.

We stayed for a night before heading off to the National Park. The guest house was fabulous! Our room was large and well-appointed, and even had a fridge full of water, Coke, and milk for coffee/tea. We were tired after a long trip to Johannesburg and they provided us transportation to dinner and recommended a great restaurant. The breakfast was large and delicious!! Overall I would definitely recommend this guest house to anyone staying in the city.

The beds were clean and comfortable. Great bathrooms and amenities. The staff were genuine, eager to be of assistance and very helpful, fun and friendly. The venue is right in the heart of hip vibing Melville, Johannesburg. Lovely rustic garden to relax and base yourself for exploring Joburg. The Breakfasts are honest home cooked deliciousness. Definitely my new first choice when staying in town for a while.

We stayed in one of the tree house rooms with amazing city views on one side and tree canopy on the other. Seeing the Grey Go-away birds feeding on the berries just outside our windows only wanted us to stay longer, sorry bird! The location is amazing, walking distance to the center of Melville for great food and drinks. The hosts, Louis and Leigh, were extremely gracious and accommodating. You can tell this place was designed for the next generation of traveler. The owner's breakfast joint in Melville is a treat as well. This was a great way to spend our last few days in ZA.

Great facility. Everything near perfect and here is what I liked and didn't like: Liked 1. Neat place. Everything was spotless- room, linen, bathroom, dining room 2. Comfortable beds- unbelievably comfotable 3. View. Hilltop location gave beautiful view of the city. Rooms have big balconies 4. Most importantly, the facility allowed me early check in. That was awesome Didn't like It's hard to find fault here but I had a few reservations. 1. Outside paintwork needs retouching. On arrival the place looks not so attractive 2. The bath tub in room 6 might need a change. Had a big dent that could be irritating to some guests- didn't have issues with it though 3. The night was windy and that resulted in a lot of irritating noise from the roof (made of corrugated iron) and the sliding door seemed to have some worn out rubbers- had to fill up the gaps with toilet paper to reduce the noise as wind hit against the door. 4. Staff could do with a little bit more of smiles

The View Boutique Hotel has limited guest rooms which makes it a very relaxing place to settle in while in Johannesburg. Location is good, just a few minutes away from the city center, and there are a lot of uber in the area, so getting a ride is not a problem. The room is a bit on the luxurious side, and has a big and comfortable bed. I ran into a small problem with the shower, something that has to do with the water pressure I guess, but maintenance was able to fix it immediately. The well-manicured garden is very beautiful, I think I spent a lot of time just sitting outside and enjoying the cool weather. The restaurant was unpretentious and serves good food, and the staff were exceptionally warm, friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Really really disappointed. On Agoda it clearly stated there were two sets double beds. I was meeting a friend from the other side of the world, we both got off over 30 hours of travel... Just wanted to sleep. Room we got only had one double bed. When we asked the staff they acted as though there were no double beds at all. Then layer I showed the booking, and they said oh yes, we've had similar complaints before. The room we were showed had a picture of two double beds, we believe they just put us on the wrong room. Noy helpful staff at all. No apologies. Also no water. Very disappointed... We should have paid for what was advertised. No discount offered either. I will never return here.

Booked a room for 3 which ended up being a whole house, very spacious. Very clean, good location, easy check-in. The host showed us a nice Italian restaurant 5min from the room which was really good quality and he came back after we had finished dinner to pick us up to make sure we felt safe. We needed early breakfast (6.30am instead of 7am) and they were quite accomodating, the breakfast had many options and was freshly prepared. Highly recommended for a stay in Johannesburg!

A wonderful stay at Life on Third Guesthouse. Lovely room with beautiful linens and furnishings. The breakfast room/lounge was gorgeous artwork. Breakfast was great..fruit salad, cereals, cheese and cooked. In a very peaceful area so no traffic noise at nighttime and just 5 minute walking distance along tree lined streets to get to Melville's main street and 27 boxes. Thankyou!
