Where to stay in Johannesburg City Centre
Johannesburg City Centre hotels & accommodations

I spent one night at the Residence on transit out of Johannesburg which was a charming experience. As a solo traveller I always prefer to stay in a 5 star hotel chain which I did on arrival into J’burg but decided to experiment the Residence simply due to the high recommendation & reviews read on the travel sites ! Loved the intimacy & romance of the property with to...

My second stay here after a hiatus of one year. Things are still good and well-maintained. Staff is excellent and complimentary breakfast at Immigrant is great too. Will call Uber taxis for you, help you with itinerary planning, and locating places of interest in general. Walkable from Johannesburg Park Station. Lots of eating and partying places around and much e...

I think this is a great hotel. It has a central location, just under 10min walk to Park station, there are lots of places to eat, many shops etc. It is clean, the breakfasts are amazing and the staff friendly and helpful. The location in Braamfontein is very good and there is a Red Bus stop directly outside the hotel. I would stay there again.

When we arrived in Johannesburg after a long flight, we got our rental car and drove directly to The Reef. The staff there was exceptional friedly and took every opportunity to make our stay more comfortable- always with a warm smile. We are ourselves front office manager and chef in a hotel in Switzerland - we found nothing to complain about. This is a good hotel in ...

Very nice Hotel, clean and upmarket. Walking distance from the Market Theatre and Mall. Staff were so friendly and very good to me. Vista, the lady who clean my room, where extremely nice and helpful. The guards outside was also very nice to be there for my safety. Always glad to see me and to help. Love the Hotel and the staff! Thank you so much!!

Great location for Maboneng (free shuttle day and evenings). Amazing views from the rooftop. Very comfy beds. Unfortunately a bid noisy from neighbouring rooms. Starting to look a bit tired, but probably still the best place when you want to stay in town.

We stayed for a night before heading off to the National Park. The guest house was fabulous! Our room was large and well-appointed, and even had a fridge full of water, Coke, and milk for coffee/tea. We were tired after a long trip to Johannesburg and they provided us transportation to dinner and recommended a great restaurant. The breakfast was large and delicious!! ...

The beds were clean and comfortable. Great bathrooms and amenities. The staff were genuine, eager to be of assistance and very helpful, fun and friendly. The venue is right in the heart of hip vibing Melville, Johannesburg. Lovely rustic garden to relax and base yourself for exploring Joburg. The Breakfasts are honest home cooked deliciousness. Definitely my new first ...

We enjoyed staying in this small but exclusive hotel. It was one of the best during our trip through southern africa comparing price and service. The neighbourhood is recommendable if you prefer walking distance to restaurants and cafés. It is also close to shopping centers and the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.

We stayed in one of the tree house rooms with amazing city views on one side and tree canopy on the other. Seeing the Grey Go-away birds feeding on the berries just outside our windows only wanted us to stay longer, sorry bird! The location is amazing, walking distance to the center of Melville for great food and drinks. The hosts, Louis and Leigh, were extremely graci...

Stayed two nights with two room -- an apartment and a double room, both in the garden area. Both rooms were excellent and quiet. We had a van and there was plenty of room to park it. Staff were extraordinarily helpful. The breakfast was also excellent. This was one of the best places we stayed on our trip to South Africa. We highly recommend it.

Great facility. Everything near perfect and here is what I liked and didn't like: Liked 1. Neat place. Everything was spotless- room, linen, bathroom, dining room 2. Comfortable beds- unbelievably comfotable 3. View. Hilltop location gave beautiful view of the city. Rooms have big balconies 4. Most importantly, the facility allowed me early check in. That was awesome ...

The View Boutique Hotel has limited guest rooms which makes it a very relaxing place to settle in while in Johannesburg. Location is good, just a few minutes away from the city center, and there are a lot of uber in the area, so getting a ride is not a problem. The room is a bit on the luxurious side, and has a big and comfortable bed. I ran into a small problem with t...

If you want to stay at a place where you widen your horizon, this is it! The hostel itself is very nice, in the bar you will meet interesting people and in the neighborhood really good restaurants. And if you have time take one of the tours they are offering.

Really really disappointed. On Agoda it clearly stated there were two sets double beds. I was meeting a friend from the other side of the world, we both got off over 30 hours of travel... Just wanted to sleep. Room we got only had one double bed. When we asked the staff they acted as though there were no double beds at all. Then layer I showed the booking, and they sai...

Booked a room for 3 which ended up being a whole house, very spacious. Very clean, good location, easy check-in. The host showed us a nice Italian restaurant 5min from the room which was really good quality and he came back after we had finished dinner to pick us up to make sure we felt safe. We needed early breakfast (6.30am instead of 7am) and they were quite accomod...

Fabulous place. Beautiful rooms, very clean and safe. Nice facilities for coffee and tea. Gordon, the manager, is very hands on and friendly. Breakfast is lovely and I was even made a take away sandwich because we had to leave early for the airport! Excellent levels of service. Would highly recommend.

A wonderful stay at Life on Third Guesthouse. Lovely room with beautiful linens and furnishings. The breakfast room/lounge was gorgeous artwork. Breakfast was great..fruit salad, cereals, cheese and cooked. In a very peaceful area so no traffic noise at nighttime and just 5 minute walking distance along tree lined streets to get to Melville's main street and 27 box...
Cheap places to stay in Johannesburg City Centre

The staff take very good care of ther customers, are friendly and helpfull and feels like staying with family, the guesthouse has it's own decoration style a nice roof terrace kitchen . some small things in the building could be improved or repaired, but its ok. It is about 10 min walking to the center, supermarkets and eatingplaces are nearby. They didn't came to p...

The Businessburg hotel location is itself is not in the best neighbourhoods, More Unsafe than any area of town. However the hotel itself on the inside is not that bad, kept relatively tidy and clean and the rooms are hospitable. Overall when staying there, try not to live in the hotel all day, its better as a place to come rest or just sleep and get back to business...

I stayed at Grace and Gift Guesthouse for four nights. Overall my stay was good and I was happy with the level of service I received. The rooms are clean and everything worked, and the staff were willing to help me whenever I needed something. The breakfast they offer (R50) is pretty good and was usually more than I could eat. Good way to start the day. I'll probably c...

I had a very comfortable stay, and as the only guest who was there during the period of the time, it was very peaceful. Extensive choice of breakfast which you can get to pick and choose what you want to eat the next day, and cooked according to your wishes (fantastic!) This was a real treat due to the very large space, large screen TV, and on-site restaurant with great prices for good food. Mine hosts Lawrence and Manny were so helpful. It is a little further out but the value for money more than compensates this. I did have internet difficulties in the room, however the internet worked downstairs.

This is a nice hotel with contemporary design in Johannesburg's city centre. Staff are helpful and there are two restaurants adjacent to the hotel. Good value for money. Only problem is the loft-style rooms with no door to separate the bathroom from the bedroom - not very handy if you're staying with a friend and want a bit of privacy, as in my case.

We booked three days at the Villa Simone, the most unusual place I have ever stayed in. Nine months ago it was someone's home, a grand mini-palace behind walled gates in the Beverly Hills of Johannesburg. The Greek owner, who we spoke to, designed the home for his wife Simone, who had recently passed away. He and his family decided to convert the place into a boutique h...

I went on a 1 day business trip to JHB, l googled accommodation close to US Consulate office as l was relying on shuttle services. My intentions was to walk to the Consulate. Foxwood on the internet shows it is only 0.27km away from the Consulate dept. I was shocked when I arrive and realise that it was actually far ( Google map shows 12 km). The staff was friendly, ...
