Quiet guesthouse located away from the nightlife”
we stayed a couple of nights at the morningstar guesthouse. it's hidden away in a cross street in some quiet commercial lots near soi 12 at the southern end of the jomtien beach road. the google map marker for the guesthouse is accurate so if you have a phone with gps and google maps you can be sure to find it. as others have commented, it is basically a converted commercial building so if you're expecting luxury or opulence this is not the place for you. but you will get basic clean surroundings, a large spacious room, a good supply of hot and cold water for a shower. we suspected that the towels had a bit of an odd smell about them, but it wasn't bad enough that we said anything to the management. because of the nature of the building, noise does tend to rattle along the corridors and up and down the staircase, so if other guests are unfortunately noisy this could disturb your stay. there's tea and coffee available in reception, and tables and chairs around reception so you can eat and drink. the owner is very helpful and happy to assist wherever he can giving advice, directions and tips. its quiet location is offset by a 20min walk back up to the main commerical area of jomtien. however the baht busses that ply the beach road are good value if you can't be faffed to walk.
Good option in a not-so-great place”
You probably can't find a better budget hotel in Jomtien than Morningstar (in terms of affordability & comfort). The rooms are huge, clean & have balconies and the owner is extremely friendly & helpful. The location is a little odd (the entrance is in a little side street behind what looks like an abandoned latex factory). But it's a short walk to the beach. As for Pattaya itself...well, I guess if you're traveling there you know what you're getting into.
Home away from home”
We spent 10 days over the Christmas period at this lovely establishment. Due to our bus being delayed we only arrived at Morningstar after 11pm. This was no problem as Mr Danny greeted us with a friendly smile and a helping hand with the luggage, even though the reception closed at 10pm already. The rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for Mr Danny - from helping us order pizza delivery right down to arranging a taxi. We will definitely make this "our" place to stay for future trips to Jomtien.
Friendly services”
This is our first time staying in the guesthouse in Jomtiem. We can say that this is very pleasant staying here. The location is good and not loud, just a few minutes walk to the beach. It also has the private parking lot. The owner is very friendly and make us feel like home. The room is clean, spacious, functional, and quiet. And the price is reasonable considering it's located on the Jomtien beach road.
You'll not find better value in Jomtien ”
My wife and I stayed here at Morningstar on the night of 27 January 2012 and cannot fault this super guesthouse and the owners, who made us very welcome with their warmth and kindness. The hotel is spotlessly clean and have use of the PCs and internet, free of charge, in the reception area and free tea and coffee facility. The room was spacious, modern and extremely clean, a very large comfortable bed, ensuite shower and toilet, again, very clean. A balcony with table, chairs and ashtray, for those of us who smoke or just wanting to relax. The hotel is situated in a quiet Soi just a minute's walk from the beach and at the quieter end of Beach Road, but still in easy reach of the nightlife. Needless to say, we wouldn't hesitate in staying here again.
When you come in, you will like it”
This guesthouse is absolutely great for its price! Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Best wishes! Rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable and generously furnished – any 4* hotel will be proud to have such. You may choose between air conditioner, ceiling fan or both. Large balcony has comfortable table, chairs and even its own sink where you may wash fruits etc. You have good Wi-Fi reception in the room and a couple of computers in the lobby. As a guesthouse it has no its own restaurant but you may find free coffee or tea in its lobby. There is a microwave as well, so you may warm up some ready-to-eat breakfast early in the morning. Later, after 10 am, it is not a problem to find good place to eat in the neighborhood. Hotel area is rather quiet, but in 150 m you find beach road and tuk-tuks taking you right to the center of Pattaya for just 10 baht per person. It is very easy to get to the night market and Tesco-Lotus as well.
wonderful clean and friendly family run hotel”
I would only stay here in future as it is a great base to explore jomtien and is only 20 baht or ten minute tut tut ride to the centre of pattaya! This hotel is slightly set back away from the noise of the main beach road and is a welcome retreat from the hussle and bussle of street vendors and passing traffic. Also very good selection of sea food restaurants within easy walking distance!
Morningstar really is a Superstar ”
Make no mistake about it. The real stars at this jomtien hidden jewel are Danny longhair and his charming wife. The hotel is located near the beach but hidden from the main soi. Quite and charming, this place is clean and secure. Definitely not a backpackers place. The hotel is decorated with rock and roll memorabilia from the times when owner Danny longhair (As he was known in NY) would sell T-shirts outside Madison Square Garden back in the seventies. Helpful and English friendly. This is not my first stay. See you in September Danny!!
Clean and comfortable and close to the main road. ”
It was a great stay. I thought it a bit expensive for being further down Jomtien beach (about soi 14) and for not being right on the beach (it was a 1 minute walk down the soi). Obviously, these were minor details when looking at the whole area. The room was clean, large, had a great private balcony, had a fridge, and a comfortable king size mattress. There was also a futon couch that could sleep another person, so it may be good for a small group. The staff were knowledgeable about the area and helpful. There was a small area for free tea/coffee in the morning.
Exceptional room, good value, helpful staff”
I was amazed at this room - large and tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, and furnished to a high standard. The bathroom was large and had none of the sloppy workmanship and cleaning that so often are present in mid-priced Thai accommodations. This was truly first class in its quality and presentation. But the bonus was the helpfulness and friendliness of the hotel's owner. It made my trip to Pattaya much more pleasant and productive - with advice where to go and how to travel. The owner is an excellent English speaker, having lived in New York City. When I come back to Pattaya I will definitely come back to this hotel.
Fantastic place”
owner suvat is a delighltful bloke. made my stay at the morningstar v pleasant indeed. nice large airy rooms. location is great - v quiet away from all the husle.
friendly owner, clean comfortable rooms.”
Located next to the best part of Jomtien beach with many restaurants and bars close by.
Superb Service & Hospitality ”
A Nice unexpected 3 Nights at the Morningstar, a warm welcome, as well as reassurance that the Car & Motorbike hire were secure on site. Shall be revisiting Guaranteed.
Hidden Gem”
FOR ME PERFECT,I AM STILL HERE FOR ONE MORE MONTH AND QUITE HAPPY.I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANY ONE AND EVERY ONE TO STAY SHORT TIME OR LONG TIME, IT IS AWAY FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF PATTAYA BUT ONLY A SHORT RIDE IN THE BAHT BUS TO TRAVEL TO PATTAYA SAY 15 MINS DEPENDING ON TRAFFIC AND ONLY 10 BAHT NO NEED TO SAY ANY MORE. BY THE WAY THE HOTEL DOES NOT DO FOOD WHICH SUITS ME AS I ENJOY EATING OUT, BUT YOU CAN BRING FOOD IF YOU DESIRE. PS. .WOULD DEFINATELY STAY AGAIN. HUGH WILLIAMS
Well run budget hotel near the beach”
Good hotel for exploring the Jomtien beach area without having to pay too much.
Friendly service, hard beds”
I arrived around 11 PM to check in to find the lobby of this guesthouse empty and locked. But I was able to call the number of the hotel and the owner came down from his room (I guess he lives there as well?) and checked me in. The room was very big and clean, but the bed was really hard. It's a short walk to the a quiet section of the Jomtien Beach. No food options, other than instant coffee in the lobby in the morning.
nice hotel”
The manager welcomed us warmly. The hotel is at the end of jomtien road, which has a different crowd than the beachroad area which was for plus for me and my girlfriend. The walk to the hotel is quite dark at night, but short so its not an issue.
Good value for money. Clean and friendly ”
Good value stay on Jomtien side of Pattaya. The walls are thin but overall a good value.
great hotel nice rooms great location”
stayed here for 4 nights, really enjoyed my stay here very nice people who own the hotel 2 mins walk to beach, resteraunts bars etc, the rooms are of a high quality, quiet, and clean cant really say anything bad about the place, the only little thing is that there is no lift so if your on the 5th floor it is a bit of a hike but i suppose it helps burn off the beer, if you are elderly or have young children i am sure if you contact the owners they will put you lower down as they cant do enough for you.would stay here again, there are cheaper rooms available near by but they are not of a good as standard.
clean property”
A very clean hotel with big rooms, Climb to rooms can be a bit steep if you are on the upper floors. 5 minute walk from the beach, 15 to 30 minute ride to downtown Pattaya depending on traffic. Proprietor/manager speaks good english and was very helpful. All in all very good value for money for travelers looking to be slightly away from hustle and bustle. No food or beverage service , but free coffee in the hall and free wifi
