Jonker hotels & places to stay

I booked 3 nights for a deluxe room and was upgraded to executive deluxe (FOC). Room was big, clean and bed was very comfortable. They even have 3 options for pillows which amazes me. The hotel's back faces the river, beautiful scenery. Get information from May at reception. She's very knowledgeable for directions and food recommendation. Breakfast was average. Nothing fantastic. A la carte from menu. Boat rides can be booked from the hotel at RM10.90. Do it in the evening where it's cooler. It's less than 10mins walk from RC Hotel to Jonker Street. Walking distance about 20-30mins (depending on pace) to Hatten Hotel, Equatorial Hotel, Makota Parade and Pelawan Dataran (shopping centre). The night markets in Jonker Street operates in the evenings, every Friday and Saturday. Will definitely come back again to RC Hotel.

I visited Melaka with my elderly parents. We wanted to stay in a heritage old building hotel in Jonker Walk area. I found this hotel has an elevator, it suits best with what we wanted. We booked for 3 nights. The room has enough space for couple without children. Designed in classic simple white, not losing the identity of a heritage. Every room apparently has different layout. My parents' room seems more spacious than mine in the bed area, but the shower room in my room seems more spacious than in my parents'. The staff and the manager are super friendly. It's very recommended for people who enjoys boisterous atmosphere. The hotel doesn't have parking area, so it's pretty difficult when you get back to hotel after driving around you cannot find any space for your car because the parking lot is already filled with cars parked temporarily visiting Jonker Walk Night Market.

It’s near to Jonker. We drive, so distance actually doesn’t matter to us but we surprise that Jonker is actually walking distance from this hotel. Room is statisfy, toilet as well - clean & big. Tv is provided, fridge too with drinks inside. Those drinks in fridge is not included in hotel price but the price stated is reasonable. One thing of dissapoinment is the charging pot for water boiler & iron are manufacture from China which normal charge pot like Malaysia is not fixed. But international pot is not provided hence we thought to boil water at the end we give up our mind. (We didn’t request for it though as it’s nearly 12am & we felt tired) - water machine is not located but fridge did provide water with rm2 - Taste is not good. compliment for this hotel is - We booked this for honeymoon. Didn’t expect for anything but when we came in room we saw decorations on the bed it’s like.. omg! It surprise us & make us feel warm as well. Thanks u very much for the service.

The hotel located in jonker street, nearest to the centre of attraction in Melaka such as jonker streets, Hard Rock Cafe, the red building and so on in only walking distance. A very friendly hotel staff, Ruth the receptionist such a good PR skill. Hotel ambiance was so cozy and i give 5 star for the cleanliness also for all the facility. The only drawback is the room size and parking area around jonker street. Definitely will come back for another stay.

Best location with excellent and beautiful view of Melaka river from board walk in front, from Halia Inc Restaurant and from balcony of river view rooms. Best place to hang out during the evening and at night time. So near river cruise jetty, few museums, the clock tower, Jonker Walk, Hard Rock & H& M shopping and decorated trishaw'ride. You can't be wrong but it is a 3-Star hotel and the comfort follows it's star rating. But they have excellent reception service and surprisingly halal restaurant. We love to be back to this hotel. Booked this hotel for a 2-night stay during a peak/public holiday long weekend. Service was fantastic from the minute I called them a few weeks ago to make my booking. Afif, the staff who attended to me via email and telephone, was extremely friendly and helpful and just so pleasant and easy to deal with. He addressed all my concerns politely and patiently and made sure my booking was done successfully. When checking in and out, some female staff at the reception attended to us and they were also friendly and pleasant to deal with. The room had all the basics you would expect at a 3-star hotel. There was nothing we needed that they didn't provide. I absolutely loved the shower - really good water pressure and temperature! Especially nice after a long tiring day of sightseeing. Even though they said to switch on the heater 15 mins before showering, the water heated up within 5 minutes it seemed. For someone who loves really hot showers, I wasn't disappointed at all. The hotel facade and interior is a little dated, it being an old building and hotel, but more importantly, it is clean. Walls and furniture were very clean and room had no funny smells or insects/bugs. Old TV, but FOX movie channel kept us entertained whenever we were in the room. Room space was ok, not that spacious, but not too cramped either. Small windows but enough to brighten the room if the curtains are pushed aside. Blackout curtains made it dark enough for a restful sleep. The location of the hotel is unbeatable. It is right next to the historical landmarks of Stadhuys and St Paul's church, and just a 5-minute walk away from Jonker St. The River Cruise and boardwalk is also 5 minutes away. It can get noisy at certain times due to other guests walking along the corridor outside your room (not very soundproof) and especially from the trishaws' loud music outside, but it's all part of the festivities and fun of staying in the heart of Melaka town.

This hotel might not be a 5 star Ramada Inn, but its super value for money. Budget but clean and the staff is great. Any issue we had they solved immediately. The hotel is 2 blocks off of Jonker Walk and by the river,, so you choose to walk and dine along the river, or take the quick walk down to Jonker Street. Its even close to the less touristy Jonker Hawker Stall which has the perfect Sesame oil Chicken.

There is a mosque infront of the hotel, the oldest mosque in Melaka. The hotel area is so convenient for travelers. Its near the jonker walks area, you can just walk. Hotel's backside area is so beautiful, it have riverside and so many lights at night. So many great spot for pictures. For a lower rate you can get a spacious room!! The best part is, every floor have 2 iron facilities and 2 water dispenser of alkaline water. I also love how the housekeeper so sensitive with our need. I used the extra towel as sejadah for solat but when they clean up the room, I found out later that the have exchange the towel with a proper sejadah and put it at the same spot. It just so sweet of them.

When searching the Agoda listings (admittedly hurriedly) Hotel Hong was one of the very few in the price range that offers rooms with their own toilet/shower room. The close location to the Jonker Walk area and the free parking on offer were also plus points,so we booked! On arrival, the exterior isn't particularly impressive. The hotel is on the first floor above a small wholesale warehouse. The street is mostly commercial, and for Malacca, fairly quiet. Once inside, any misgivings are dispelled by the friendly informal welcome and the sight of the spotlessly clean rooms and facilities. From then on the experience is most pleasant. The beds are as comfy as 4/5 star hotels. The shower pressure is invigorating to say the least! (It is adjustable though!). The window blinds are so effective that it is easy to sleep in if you don't set an alarm. The roof terrace is a real bonus, and a pleasant place to spend a little time. You can see across the quaint roof top scenery down a little lane, right to the entrance of the Cheng Temple. The staff are all wonderfully friendly and cheerful and happy to offer advice on the locality. There is a definite family atmosphere. The tea and coffee making facilities are out in the reception corridor area which to some will seem an inconvenience, but it actually usually turns into a social occasion with interaction with the staff and other guests. When we were there, there were also complimentary organic bananas for the taking. The location is great! A very short walk to the Jonker Walk area with all the interesting shops, temples, mosques, museums,eateries etc etc. You can also walk across the river to the numerous other attractions. To conclude, for the price this little place would be hard to beat, and if they can maintain the high standards we will certainly be back.

We had a very great stay for our family trip with young kids and old parents. We like the heritage house with modern concepts design, my kids said this hotel is better than a 5 star hotel. Because they can play around the house with free and easy, adults enjoy coffee and tea break at the living area, young couple can enjoy shopping at jonker street all the time. It’s the best location for everyone with family trip. Everyone enjoy the great stay and convenient location for shop and eat. Once again i want to thank you to Ms. Najau ( marketing of gingerflower) who had try her best to accommodate our family trip and nvr disappointed us. Appreciate to the management had provide us (customer) the best service i ever had. Expecially the car park services, front desk always make the best arrangement for guest. Love your service very much. You all really make us feel like we are superb guest. Well done! Definitely will come again next time!

strategic location, we went back room to sleep at 9pm, can hear some stage noise, but it's ok for my baby, she still sleep soundly with some baby music on. The hotel is well maintained, everything looks just like the photo shown. All attractions places within walking distance, very convenient for family especially if you have young children, you get go back to your hotel anytime while your other family member can continue shopping at jonker walk. The only cons is this is an double storey shop lots unit and doesn't have elevator, not so convenient to carry our baby stroller and luggages, but it's bearable because already known it before we booked. I like this hotel and would come back again.

Great stay during our 2 nights with Courtyard at Heeren. Staffs are very friendly and helpful, they tried their best to attend all your requests and it's truly home away from home . Love the heritage room and hotel interior decoration, strongly recommend if you'd like to experience a heritage house experience. Location of the hotel is excellent as it's just one street away from jonker street! We rented a car one the first day of staying in the hotel and worried about the parking space but the parking space provided by the hotel is not too far and safe!

Firstly, THANK YOU for acceding to my special request for Grand Deluxe Suite with a Chinese 4-poster bed. My man and I love the gorgeous room – it felt like a Chinese wedding suite! This hotel is actually made up of a few refurbished Peranakan townhouses. The Chinese day-bed by the window was our favourite spot to chill-out with a cup of tea after sightseeing in the scorching Melakan weather. The beautiful bed was also very comfortable and we slept really well. We also love the huge bathroom – just that you should add a towel bar to dry wet towels after showering. The location of the hotel is also perfect - just one street beside Jonker Walk. It is far enough to shut off the action of the night market, but near enough to walk to good food and shopping. Service was also great – the ice-cold towel at check-in was a God-send! The breakfast was a simple but delicious spread, with “proper” coffee and tea. Finally, we would like to say a special THANK YOU, to the sweet Chinese young lady at the reception (in the afternoon of 15 Oct 2016) for handling our dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant (sorry dear, my man didn't get your name). In a nutshell, gorgeously comfortable room, good service and epic location. Think we’ve just found our favourite hotel in Melaka!

The location is great which is near to the tourism attractions! For those who doesn't drive, guess this is the best choice as it's just next to the jonker walk street. Even though it is near to the jonker walk, it is not crowded and noisy. Just a down side that the staircase of the hotel is so angled, slanted. Not recommend for old folks unless you're staying at the 1st floor. My room is at the very end of the corridor so wifi can't be connected. Their staff are lovely, friendly and helpful! Thank you <3

The location is the best, as it is conveniently located near Jonker Street. So during the Jonker Night Market (Friday-Sunday) you can easily visit, and get back to the hotel if the crowds get to you. It is also very near Hard Rock Cafe, and the popular tourist places The Stadthuys, Christ Church, and the Big Clock. I stayed in Deluxe Room (Queen Bed). The bed was great, the AC worked perfectly, so did the TV. The shower space was a little small though. The breakfast was decent, with toast, cereals, and eggs. But no worries, lots of food options near the hotel if you want bigger meal

We stayed with Da Som for 3 nights, and was allocated Room 6. Noise level: We read about the morning mosque prayer, Room 6 is the second last room on the level two, and we could not hear the morning prayers at all. Wifi: Wifi signal is weak, but lying at the foot of the bed seems to help. And standing up helps too. Don't ask me why. Wifi still functional though, if slow. Cleanliness: Bathroom is so clean, even the plug chain is spotless. The sheets feel freshly laundered too. Provided in the room: two towels, a small square of soap and two packets of shampoo. Definitely bring your own toiletries. I didn't expect otherwise, and no issue with that for the price of the room. Location: Just one street behind Jonker Street, perfect location of 3 min walk from Jonker. Perfect proximity to Jalan Hang Jebat, Tun Tan Cheng Lock, no lack of food, provision shops, little knickknacks and things to explore. Jonker is really alive only on the weekend, week nights are quiet, though there are still dinner places to be had. Da Som is also right next to the famous dim sum place selling the famous big pau and lotus leaf rice.

We were a group of 7 friends traveling together in Melaka. I've always stayed in hotels which are not that well located compared to this guest house. Being just 3mins away from jonker street it's convenient if big groups are traveling together. You save on transport. What's more the common area is huge and pretty good wifi. There are hair dryers you can borrow, and toilets are very clean, no smell so that's really awesome. It is relatively new so beds are comfortable and new too. Beds were relatively big. Of all the guest house i walked passed on the same street this was the best because of the common area. We were a little concern in the beginning and not sure what to expect, but we were all pleasantly surprised by the place and enjoyed our stay.

First time booking a hotel in Jonker street area malacca. Heeren By The River Hotel was a heritage hotel , large big room with king size bed. Best for the bath room is huge with a bath tub. Location was right at the start of the jonker street. Car security and parking was provided which is one of the hardest thing to find in malacca. Very friendly and helpful staff , will book again

Booked for a 1 night stay in the hotel. Love the service, location and overall feel. The hotel is pretty new, only soft launch a couple of months back. Personally feel that the hotel is so UNDERRATED! Probably because it is only open for a few months, not many travellers leave reviews behind. I was pretty skeptical when booking the hotel as there wasn't much reviews on this place. But I was WOWed by it in the end. Front desk staff, Mazshafinah, was really helpful since pre-booking of our reservation to welcoming us at the hotel. The other housekeeping staffs which I did not managed to get their names were also welcoming. We drove to Malacca and the hotel is located in one of the busiest streets as it is directly behind Jonker Streeet. We were unable to get a lot near the hotel. But staff from the sister hotel, Heeren Palm Suite, assisted us to park behind their hotel as both hotels shares the same parking space. The building itself is 150years. Revamped from old peranakan shophouse, so do expect the flooring to vibrate abit when someone is walking near you on the 2nd floor. All in all, it is a really pleasant stay with Heeren Straits Hotel. Will definitely be back soon.

Suitable for backpackers ... great place to sleep but not stay ... parking the most difficult ... not recommended for traveller with car . No parking provided ... bar beside hotel very loud ... its newly refurbish hotel ... the paint smell should go off within a week ... if u are going to roaming around jonker walk this hotel is good ... find one car park ... use the coupon then dont move the car until u check out ... all interesting place malacca have to offer are walking distance ...

Check in was a breeze. Super friendly service from the reception; we can check in immediately. Room was tastefully decorated with new Peranakan-esque furniture. Room was small but adequate for our little family of 3. We got the room beside the lift; easier for us to go in and out of the room, but at night we can hear clearly other guests walking and talking while getting in and out of the lift. Covered parking was also available on first come, first basis for the hotel's guests. The cafe just outside the lobby has such a great ambience; it's partly open air so it's a refreshing change from the usual stuffy hotel cafes. We went down for our complimentary breakfast at 7am, with 2 other guests. The staff were friendly and mentioned that their breakfast spread was home made. Selection was adequate, simple and not overbearing. Their portion is just nice to fill up our tummy until brunch time; you're most likely bound to have some street food delicacies anyway when walking down Jonker street (which was just 1 block away). Location wise is great, this hotel is located at the end of Jonker street so you can walk to experience Jonker walk at night and during the day. It's tucked away in the corner of Jonker street so you're safe from the open mic stage that will last until midnight; and the hustle and bustle of the street. Keep up the great service and excellent premise!

Thumbs up for the service that we get as the staff was soo lovely that he had told us some attractive places which located within walking distance with a map provided to us. Besides that, the located was soo convenient which just located a street behind Jonker. My friend and I keep going back to our room to take a short rest before going to the next destination. The environment of the hotel is very cozy. Can just take a book and sit at one of the corner so feel the breeze. :)

We stayed from 21 December to 22 December. The room we booked was big and had two levels. The rooms were spacious and allowed up to 4 queen and one single bed. The staff were exceptional too just that you have to check in layang layang guest house which is a street down the road and they will give you warmth welcome. On 21 December, when we arrived back to our hotel after walking the streets. We were treated to one of the best home made ah balling as it was the festive season to have some. Location wise is good as well because it is at jonker street so you can get to places easily from the hotel. You can get to east & west rendezvous which sells delicious nonya dumpling easily which is just down the street as well as the famous chicken rice balls stall. They do provide a map for you to explore the different places just let them know you would like one. Let's not forget layang layang guest house also provides bicycles for rent @ 5rm just in case you would like to travel the city convinently. For sure we will be back if we ever return to Melaka as the hotel has made a good impression on us!

-location is right next to jonker night market -clean room but mattresses and pillow abit hard, having backache after a night (of course this is a cheap deal, can't expect 5 stars pillow) -clean shared bathroom for triple room we booked- website should not mentioned shower in the room's description -since 3 of us were the only group staying, there is no noise interruption as per earlier reviews by other traveller.... -hard to find parking nearby, but there is a RM6 per day per entry opposite Casa del Rio >> 6 minutes walk under hot sun

We took a little time searching for this guesthouse as it was tucked in a quiet corner, yet right in the middle of Jonker Street. Our friendly host, Andy, welcomed us and showed us to the rooms upstairs and allowed us to pick our room. We picked the last room but it had a window facing the back alley so you could hear vehicle sounds all day but it was no big deal - the bustling sounds are part of being in Jonker Street. We loved the comfortable double bed and the clean room. The room was just enough to fit the bed and a clothestand and that was about it - really basic but we were happy as we didn't need much. There were 2 shared bathrooms which were clean and had hot showers. Showering was not a problem as the guesthouse only had 9 rooms and it wasn't at full capacity. The location was great as it was after all, in Jonker Street. Overall, we had a lovely, homey, & fuss-free stay and we'd love to go back again.

The hotel location are walking distance to Jonker street,easy to identify. Please remember put parking coupon if you parking infront of hotel. That are limited car park space in front of hotel. You will watch out car get saman if did not park inside the car park petak means illegal park as police come over nearly everyday. I booked Deluxe room attached with private bathroom.The hotel is budgeted as per room photo given so don't aspect they provided toothpaste,toothbrush but they provided hair dryer and towel The back of hotel cafe is face to Riverbank of Malacca. You may have a drink at the back of hotel cafe and enjoy the river view. Drinking water is not provided for free.

The rooms are basic but clean. Pretty much just a bed and a small chest of drawers. However, the accommodation itself, is central to main attractions in Malakka. About a 3 minute walk and you Hit Jonker street. From there you can head to the tower for great views, to the river for the river cruise and Some of the best eateries in town. Alan the owner of the establishment was Amazing!!! We asked many questions and he assisted us with so much local knowledge. I think we even discovered a couple of eateries 'untouched' by tourists - which we loved. If Alan suggests the local cafe that serves Pork soup with Yam Rice - do yourself a favour and go and try it out. Yumm!! Just a short stroll from the front door. The balcony terrace is a great spot to relax and watch the boats go by on the river and a great escape from the hustle, bustle of the night market @ Jonker st. We were here for the Muslim New Year and hence it was extremely busy. We did not know this before arriving which proved to be difficult for a lot of tourists trying to get busses in and out as they were all booked. So please be mindful of special festivals etc and book any transport requirements before hand on line where you can. We had to re arrange our plans a little as we could not get an overnight bus to Penang as planned (due to this). Be prepared (even in normal times) to line up for food (if you want to dine at the renowned spots). I have never had to line up like this before, but definitely glad we did. We enjoyed some AMAZING food. We loved our stay @ River one. And we would DEFINITELY stay there again.
