Really nice place to stay in the jungle with ocean view”
We stayed 4 days here and booked a bungalow with ocean view from the side and it was really nice. the bungalow was big, with a table and a private bathroom, but the shower is cold. the bungalow was with balcony with two seats and a hammock. from the bungalow you can see the sunset and in the evening maybe monkeys, but don´t feed them. you walk to your private beach 2 minutes, really nice an clean. at the beach is 5 minutes far away the loma bar with the best sunset view. the stuff from the resort is really friendly, helpfull and good cookings in the restaurant.
Of my two months travel this was the best stay yet. Spacious, clean and comfortable bungalows, good and well equipped restaurant/lounge. Would only recommend to people who can actually climb stairs multiple times a day. Also there are rocks directly in front of the resort so sometimes you have to walk 100m to a place without rocks to go swimming. There are many ants all over the place which bothered me a bit (not in the bungalow). I saw monkeys 3 of 4 days directly in the trees above. Location is near the road so you can get to a store/restaurant quickly.
Loved this place - absolutely amazing! Ring on the most stunning beach! Staff are lovely and although there are a lot of steps staff carried our cases for us! Very small road at the back that has a few restaurants and bars but very very low key! You can also ride bikes to cycle round the island! Just don’t book your onward journey as you might like to stay a lot longer than you thought!
Wonderful private island with romantic beachfront huts. Got the whole beach to myself watching little crabs fly all over the sand, napped swinging in a hammock while listening to the waves crashing. Clean place, warm hosts and great food in the village. To get there, you have to take a questionable boat ride en route to Koh Lanta but it is worth it.
Relaxing, rustic and quiet”
I think the Jungle Hill Beach Bungalow is a 'love it' or 'hate it' place. I doubt there's many in between. Personally, I loved it. If you're seeking a relaxing few days of nothing but peace, quiet and relaxation, come armed with a good book (or two) and here you'll discover a serene reality that will soothe your soul. Yes, you are up close with nature. The room we stayed in resembled a tree house and there's no way to stop insects or geckos from entering (though there are mosquito nets). If you can handle that closeness with the elements (as well as the monkeys that live in the woods around) then you may love it too. The owner was born on the plot and built the rooms himself, and it's very much a friendly, family-run business. The food is also great here, especially the 'Shoo-shi'. After the awful tourist food in Ao Nang, we were thrilled to find Jungle Hill were able to serve us up authentic cuisine. There's no late nights on Koh Jum, so don't expect a Phi Phi style stay - but if what you're looking for is peace, quiet and to get away from the trappings of the modern world (but still get wi-fi haha) then bring a book and unwind.
We enjoyed our time at the bungalows. The staff greeted us warmly and were friendly, kind and accommodating for our entire stay. Service was exceptional. The Ocean Front Bungalow was bright, simple, big and clean. The journey to our bungalow was simple but there are a lot of stairs at the resort . . many uneven, many steep. There are a few lounge chairs on the beach but most are broken. Our Canadian friends found the beds very hard. The food was good but not the best on the beach. There is snorkeling gear, books and beach mats to borrow. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay.
We loved the bungalow so close to the beach (beachfront)and we were woken by the soft sound of the waves.Tang and her team were very helpfull with everything and the food was delicious! Notice that the place is less convenient for people who have trouble with climbing stairs because there are a lot of them.
In terms of value for money and efficiency, our one night stay was superb.
Great place on the beach hidden in the side of a hill, which was the only draw back climbing the incredibly steep stairs from beach to bungalows
Great quiet island retreat!”
After 3 weeks of traveling around Thailand staying at jungle hill was a great way to relax and enjoy the amazing beaches of Koh Jum. To start prompt pickup off the ferry from Krabi and shuttle down to the resort via long tail. Even on the ride in I was impressed with the long stretch of beach that Jungle Hill was situated on as it was flat, with soft sand and not crowded at all. The bungalows were not luxurious by any means but well put together, sizable with a large bathroom and relatively comfortable bed. The restaurant overlooks the water which is a nice touch especially at night with the sun setting over the phi phi islands. The food is pretty good and decently priced for an island resort, even the local restaurants on the Main Street aren’t that much cheaper. Overall main attraction is the beach which is very nice as stated earlier and great for just relaxing and reading (the resort has a good selection of books to read too. So overall this is not a fancy place but worth the money
Perfect spotto relax.”
I stayed here with my 11 year old son and we both loved it. Our bungalow was one of the beach-view ones, so we were overlooking the beach (of course!) and in amongst the trees at the shore line. This meant we felt very private but had great views. The bungalow was a good size, plenty big enough for two. The balcony was large with seating area and a hammock. Wifi worked well in the bungalow. The only thing I might have liked is a fridge or at least a cool box - but this wasn't a big deal. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was very good and great value. If you want you can hire a scooter from here to explore the island, the staff can also book you onto trips if you wish. We would definitely choose to return here. Great value, highly recommended.
Best place ever on one of the very best beach strips of Koh Jum. Wonderful staff, great food, great view and a relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in one of the bungalows right by the beach and had a great time. We have absolutely nothing to complain about. Our only suggestion would be that it would be nice to have had a fridge in the room (even though the lack of one wasn't a big deal). Would definitely go back to this place again! Kob Khun Kha from Sweden :)
Perfect loacation, footsteps from The beach. The staff are amazing and always there if you need anything. The food at restaurant is great and below avarage prices compared to most paces in Thailand. The room was very clean when we arrive. Lots of ants and fly’s in the bathroom that would come in at night but that comes with staying in a beach bungalow. It’s wasn’t an issue for us, we just washed them down the drain in the morning.
A fabulous welcome to this special place”
We stayed here for 6 days, the bungalows are basic but have everything we needed. What makes it special is the location, overlooking a quiet beach, rocky at low tide but only a couple of minutes walk to sand, the restaurant - overlooking the beach with great good value food and the helpful friendly staff who made us feel welcome and at home right away. We liked our stay so much we're coming back in February - looking forward to being back at Jungle Hill.
Great stay here!”
We really liked our stay here. The biggest complaint was the stairs .... there are so many and they are so huge! But all the hotels in this area are the same way. We liked feeling like we were in the jungle - we woke up to the sound of the monkeys which was funny to us! The bathrooms were great with hot water and flush toilets. The food was the most expensive in the area though so we didn’t eat there. Would recommend!
Staff was very nice. The food was good. We rented a beach front bungalow and we were happy with everything. I read the reviews from before about the many stairs we had to encounter so I knew what I was getting myself into. We felt tucked away from everything. We got everything we needed. Would definitely come back here again.
Good simple bungalow in a gorgeous place”
Lovely area and beach, the sunsets were stunning and I used a kayak to paddle to my own beach for a morning. Bungalows are basic, but with all you need for sleeping. A small fridge would make them perfect, and it would be easy to stay for a couple of weeks. Staff were great and food was good and reasonably priced. I'd recommend for other solo travellers, might be hard with families because of the steep stairs.
The best place I've stay in Thailand ”
If you are looking for a quiet island in Thailand you have to go to ko jum. If you want a quiet island and a amazing place to stay, stay at jungle hill. It is far the best place. Everything is amazing there, staff, food, location, facilities... Thank you so much jungle hill, I will be back
Flip flops and a relaxed attitude”
All you need are flip flops and a very relaxed attitude to enjoy this spot. They pick you up on the ferry from Krabi and deliver you to their private beach. Your private, fairly primitive bungalow is either on the beach or nestled on the hill. They rent motorbikes if you wish to explore the rest of the island or other restaurants and can connect you to boat tours or snorkelling. Or you wouldn't need to venture further than their own delicious restaurant and easy beach if you really want to just relax. The staff are lovely, and happy to help. This is life scaled back to 'chill':)
Exellent! Backpackertype of place. Quiet, In the jungle. 100m to a nice beach without rocks!”
Feels like your in the middle of a jungle looking through the treetops on a steep hillside. Very quiet laid back place. 100 to the north on the beach you got a 500m long stretch of beach withought any rocks. Close to "Rockbar" if you want backpackerhangout with music beer and drinks. Rent a scooter and do the Island. This is like Thailand 20 years ago!
