Bali hangover, that is what we feel at this moment. Junjungan Ubud Hotel & Spa exceeded our expectations. Before booking, we had checked and compared reviews. Other hotel accommodations were then going so fast our chosen dates being on a Chinese New Year. Well, it couldn't have been a better choice. Jungjungan Ubud Hotel & Spa is a small boutique hotel, a little far from the town center, but they provide free service to the town center. The staff were simply amazing. They were the epitome of how I thought Hotel staffs should be, friendly, attentive to our every need on the dining area, but never invading our personal space. Food was delicious and so well presented. The rooms were clean, beautifully designed, comfortable and had light dimmers. I thought this kind of service only existed in super high end resorts. They even knew our names and certain food preferences. Wow! And the price? Check it out, amazingly affordable. I love this hotel!
Been here 3 times, just gets better!”
Everytime I visit Ubud in Bali, I will book my stay at Junjungan. Even though there are more convenient hotels in Ubud city, it is not as good as Junjungan comparing the price, size and service of the resort. Not forgetting that Junjungan is smack in the village where you are surrounded by padifields, although its not villa style of resort, it gives you much comfort and peace. The staff service are awesome - efficient and kept room clean! The rooms are big and cosy, and our most recent stay at the resort, the breakfast has improved tremendously!!!! We totally enjoyed the breakfast and even had dinner there. you can also rent bicycle to roam around the area which is a very relaxing thing to do. :) The downside - rooms are dimly lit and the resort is not walking distance to the city but the hotel provide free shuttle to and fro and at a call away - no fuss. there is also no large pool if you are looking to laze and chill at the poolside but they provide spa services which i never tried before. the breakfast used to be very simple and small in portion but they have sinced improved alot... check out tripadvisor for some real photos and reviews from guests as well. For the price that is charged, it is very worth it. A must stay I would say and would still go again! They have well-kept the resort despite it being around for a few years.
Fall in Love with the place,Don't Want to Leave!!”
I booked Junjungan Ubud Hotel and Spa for 3 night, i check in on the 1st jan after my new year celebration at Kuta, Upon arriving at the hotel my heart just immediately fall in love with the hotel, the Hospitality of the staff, the Scenery of the rice paddy field in front of my rooms, the environment, I just don’t want to leave the place. I still can clearly remember till today how my feeling waking up every morning at the Deluxe Awan bed (Awan 2) and looking to the ducks walking in line at the rice paddy field , and the sound of the river at night. They also provide free shuttle transport at you request from the Hotel to Ubud area which is very helpful for the guest, Free afternoon tea and they also make a really good food. The room is just another thing that can amaze you, the high ceiling, the romantic beds, and the scenery of the paddy field from the room balcony is just fantastic, its like a place where you just want to stay and no nothing and enjoy. I really hope to come again to this place in the future, Thank You Junjungan Ubud Hotel and Spa for the wonderful and good time I had at the hotel. A million Thanks to all the Staff, Dian at the receptionist, the Girl at the restaurant who take my order every morning, dinner, thank you very much!! I would strongly recommend this place to anyone, If you want to feel the peacefulness and run away from the hassle of city, this is the place!
Wonderful & charming experience!”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Junjungan Ubud Hotel & Spa. Ambience There was an authentic Balinese feel to the place, and charming and absolutely endearing. Customer Service & Personal Touch In general, the hotel staff are very attentive and are also incredibly sincere. Upon check in, we were served a welcome drink and also given a cold refreshing towel. The check-in staff was very polite. I entered the room, to find a letter on the table addressed to me and wishing me well at the hotel, and that I would enjoy my stay. There was also a fruit basket filled with fruits native to Bali. The staff took time to patiently tell us the various names of the fruits and how to eat them, etc. The staff also made the effort to greet us by name, which I found extremely impressive (not just the staff which checked us in, but the kitchen and service staff as well). Transport Although the hotel is not particularly near any attraction (by walking distance), the hotel provides free shuttle services to the town centre which is 5-10 minutes drive away, and available as and when. Pick-up services are also included. This fuss-free experience meant that we did not have to worry about transport to and from the hotel. The vehicle was also clean and spacious. For those who would like to travel on their own, the hotel offers free bicycle rental for guests to go around and explore as well. Would definitely return! Highly recommended.
Tranquility in a beautiful setting”
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent two-night stay at Junjungan Ubud Hotel and Spa. Lovely huge room with enormous tub in bathroom and private balcony overlooking verdant ricefields. I loved seeing the bats flutter about at dusk, followed by fireflies twinkling over the fields at night. We took advantage of breakfast served on the balcony as well, so we could again appreciate the view. The spa services are very reasonably priced; I had a 90 minute aromatherapy massage that was wonderful and went far to alleviate the aches and pains from being crammed on a plane for many hours. This was the perfect place to stay at the beginning of our trip. The only disadvantage would be that because the hotel is out of the center of Ubud, you don't have the option of eating elsewhere without taking the shuttle or driving into town. The food at the hotel was fine, though, very reasonably priced (had the gado gado and crispy duck, both delicious), and even though the service in the restaurant was slow, the attitude of the staff was so congenial it didn't matter. The fried bananas we were treated to one day for afternoon tea were out of this world. Would definitely stay there again!
Botique hotel, lovely staff and excellent service!”
We travelled to Bali in December 2012 and stayed in 3 different hotels in 3 different locations. We decided to try the Junjungan Ubud Hotel for our Ubud leg of the trip. Upon arrival, we were initially concerned that the hotel, being about 5 to 7 km's from the main town, was too far away from the 'action', however those concerns were quickly elayed when we were told the hotel shuttle was available to take us to any drop off pt intown and pick us up at any time we liked. It was brilliant, akin to having your private driver on tap! The location of the hotel is very nice with green rice paddies around it and the waterway running right through the hotel provided a lovely calming water sound from all common area;s. The rooms themselves were quiet and very quaint with really unusual doors and an old fashioned bell used as a door bell; really cute. Breakfast and afternoon tea's were included in the nightly rate and both were excellent quality. The beds in the rooms were very comfortable, four posters with mosquito nets (very romantic if there was just 2 of you!) nice quiet air conditioning. Although lovely; the highlight of this hotel was the staff. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff really looked after us. Some of the best service we've enjoyed in many years of travelling. A nice touch also was if you went for a swim in the pool, complimentary mocktails arrived unanounced, which were yummy. Dian at reception was brilliant, Unita really doted after us at afternoon tea or breakfast, the ladies in the kitchen always duck their heads out to say hello and a very special thanks to Sewi, who not only was so lovely and caring whilst we stayed here, we mistakenly headed off to our next hotel (an hours drive away in Legian) without our passports!!! Sewi personally drove them to Legian AND waited outside our hotel for us to return after dinner to personally hand them back to us!! She refused any tips or gifts! Very highly recommended.
A Gem in Ubud”
We have already experienced our first two nights at Junjungan Ubud and are so pleased we have two more to go! Yes, it is out of the central "downtown" area of Ubud, but, to us, that is a blessing...Ubud is certainly not the peaceful, quaint place we first visited 25 years ago...and, in fact, if it wasn't for this lovely little hotel with it's exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, we would have left after the first day...Ubud central is just mayhem! Furthermore, the hotel drivers are basically "on call" to take you just about anywhere (with a little notice) and pick you up..at either a designated time and location or you just call them and they appear in about 10 minutes...all at no charge. We are staying in a Deluxe Awan (less than AUD$80 p/n), which is huge, with an enormous bath-tub (beware the hot water is REALLY hot!) and a cute balcony overlooking very peaceful, picturesque rice-fields. Fabulous, enormous breakfasts...as someone else has already suggested, two people could easily get by sharing one dish...in fact, we shared the Farmer's Breakfast this morning. We've also eaten lunch (the Nasi Goreng and the Spring Rolls...both of which were the best...and biggest...we've had in Bali)...and had dinner here last night (an "entree" River Salad was enough for a main meal and the Chicken in wine gravy was yummy!). The rooms are airconned and have TV (only 3 English-channels, but that's enough, although reception is a bit poor) and a DVD player, with a good range of DVDs held at Reception for borrowing. Very comfy bed, very clean.....the only minor issues are that the rooms are not very sound-proofed We also had some minor maintenance issues - electric jug would not work and had to be replaced and door handle fell off....also quickly replaced. However, all in all, great place with great people. We'd definitely come back...if it wasn't in Ubud!
I highly recommend Junjungan Ubud hotel and spa during your stay in Bali in the UBUD area. The room is very big, beautiful and well decorated Bali style. My room was on the second floor and had a balcony to enjoy the view of green rice filed in the morning. You can enjoy to choose the wide variety of pre-ordered breakfast (14 types). The most recommend is the no.1 and other pancake menus. The staffs were very helpful and had a lot of service mind. The spa was nice and not so expensive. Though the hotel is not located at the center of UBUD town, you can take a shuttle car to go to UBUD town and pick up you as well.
Lovely rural setting and exceptional service”
The excellent staff went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one, anticipating our every need and surprising us with fruit cocktails whenever we read by or swam in the pool. It was easy to organise free shuttle drops and pickups to and from Ubud. The complimentary afternoon teas were a lovely treat and thankfully the coffee was very good (not the notoriously awful muddy "bali coffee"). Ubud was hot, dusty and very busy and I'm so glad we decided to stay in Junjungan Ubud Hotel and Spa rather than one of the many hotels more centrally based in Ubud. Not really suitable for families with young children or people with mobility issues as there are plenty of stairs and the place is essentially surrounded by water.
Great location, greater service”
I stayed four nights in Bali, two in Ubud and two in Nusa Dua. I stayed in a luxury resort in Nusa Dua. However, I enjoyed my experience with this small boutique hotel much more. I actually regret staying in Nusa Dua at all. First, there's nothing much to see or do in Nusa Dua. In contrast, Ubud is very rich in art and history. Also, people in Junjungan Ubud hotel and Spa were unbelievably understanding, kind, and hospitable. I actually feel that I have given them much unnecessary trouble because they were too kind and willing to respond to my demands. Also the scenery around this hotel is so beautiful and peaceful. I strongly recommend this lovely hotel.
This place was great! When we got there, the room was beautifully decorated, and as other reviewers have said, very spacious. We were starving and it was around 3pm when we got there. Ordered room service and they said it would take 2 hours to prepare since they need to buy the food and make it. Even with that, it was very cheap (around $3 per entree - that's hard to beat anywhere even in a restaurant). Breakfast is included and you have many choices of Indonesian and American breakfasts. Unless you have transportation, you will depend on their shuttle service which runs around 5 times per day to bring people to the main town of Ubud. Otherwise, you can take a taxi to Ubud which will cost at least 30,000 rupiah ($3) one way. You can also opt to rent a motorbike which is around 50,000 rupiah per day. But be careful with these if you've never done it before. It took some getting used to and since they drive on the left side of the road, there are tons of potholes, dogs love just sleeping in the middle of the street and many streets are narrow, it's very possible to get into a nasty accident and hurt yourself. SO BE CAREFUL. Overall loved the experience at Junjungan. It wasn't too far from Ubud and it was very peaceful. Since there's only 10 rooms there, it's easy to never see another guest there so it's a very romantic place. We were even swimming at the pool for a few hours and never saw another soul around. The staff was also very attentive and accommodating to our requests and everything all around was kept very clean. The only disappointment is that there was no Internet access at all so anytime we did need to use the computer, we had to go to Ubud. Most of the time we didn't need it but when we did, it did bug that we had to wait. I would definitely stay here again and the price is right compared to the higher prices in this area. Keep up the good work Junjungan!
We booked 6 nights at Junjungan after reading reviews for many resorts in Ubud,as we knew were going to have a busy week beforehand in Cambodia and a late check in the night we arrived (we didn't arrive until nearly midnight) and we thought we needed somewhere to relax. When we arrived the night staff was there to greet us with a smile and helpful manner that remained for the entire stay. We woke the next morning to the most rewarding view of the rice fields from our private upstairs balcony before stepping into a large spa sized bath that had a hand held shower nozzle with hot free flowing water, after which we went down to a satisfying if limited breakfast menu which was served with great enthusiasm by Duk Duk and the other staff. Over the following days we often used the free shuttle bus to go into Ubud and return and Wik and the other drivers went out of their way to accommodate our needs including altering pick up times to suit us outside the normal shuttle times whenever possible (we also bartered a competative rate for some tours through them). Our daughter was staying in Kuta and we were supposed to meet her after Ubub but she decided to come up earlier than planned and stay in Ubud so we asked if there was a vacant room for the days she wanted to stay, Nguyen said that they were booked out including spare beds but he came back later in the day to say he had procured a spare roller bed for her if we still wanted it, which we did and they placed it in our front ante-room and included breakfast for a moderate extra fee. The pool was small but cooling when we returned from our daily outings and always spotlessly clean as were all the facilities. We didn't use the massage facilities as we thought they were overpriced but the mini bar was reasonably priced as was a beer beside the pool.Although the hotel was a fair distance from the centre of Ubud we thought in the end it helped create a relaxed atmosphere. The only real problem we had was the fact that
Bali hospitality at its best.”
It was our second stay at Junjungan Hotel because we had been very satisfied from our previous experience a year before. Please don't get fooled by its modest exterior. Location wise, it's quite far from Ubud main road, about 3-4kms; not really a problem because the hotel provides free shuttle to & from downtown Ubud. This is also one of its strength, given rather remote location, you can stay away from hustle-bustle "tourist-area." The staffs will provide you with Bali hospitality at its best; recognize you with your name and remember all of your preferences. Amazing. Not to mention the smile and courteous attention; you rarely have this kind of hospitality (as myself being a local), because "the Bali Experience" usually given to foreign-guests only. You will see paddy rice-fields, lined with coconut trees, first thing in the morning when you open your window; with sound of small creek running on hotel perimeter. Farmers? check. Ducks? check. Magnificent dusk or dawn? check. You and authentic Ubud village scenery as many paintings pictured, with international-standard-convenience of your room's balcony. Their rooms decorated with rustic balinese theme; complete with aircon. Now they have large screen LCD TV, cable channels, and even DVD player (on your request). The bathtub on the bathroom is huge. If you choose to stay at "awan room" on the second floor, it has high-ceiling. Breakfast is served a la carte, you can select from 10 options, ranging from American breakfast to indonesian-specialty, all delicious and nice presentation to post on social media. Also don't miss their "afternoon tea," start from 3 p.m. with delectable snacks and tea/coffee/lemonade. Please do try their spa downstairs, next to dining room, to complete your Ubud getaway.
nice hotel, good impression &many suprises ”
after i arrived bali, i was suprised again. the room was very nice, big, clean and with beautiful rice field view. the staff were very attentive, thoughful, they remembered our name and were greeting with our name everytime which made us feel warm. the welcome drink was quite refreshing and the tower was cool, the fruit in the fruit basket was fresh and delicious. afternoon tea was nice, however i do not like brownie, breakfast was nice with big portion. the location of the hotel is slightly far away from ubud city, but there is free shuttle bus transfer from hotel to ubud anytime from morning to 10pm. and although there was only 1n stay in junjungan of my short trip, i was touched by their excellent service and nice room. i will be back again with staying junjungan hotel & spa.
Beautiful rooms, wonderful views, great service”
We stayed at Junjungan from Feb 7-12 (5 nights) with 3 children aged 9-7-7. Upon arrival we felt the hotel was a bit too far from Ubud, but actually this was not a problem at all because the shuttle service on demand worked fine: at the end of the day we would ask whatever restaurant at which we were having dinner to call our hotel to request pick up for us, and this always worked well (all the restaurants are used to these requests and are glad to help). The hotel is located right by some beautiful rice paddies, and the view from the room balcony when we woke up every morning was uplifting and always made us celebrate our decision to stay there. Our rooms were AWAN rooms in the 2nd floor and, on top of the great view, they were very big, the air-con worked fine and we didn't have mosquito problems (just in case we used repellant for the nights). Regarding meals, free afternoon tea from 15 to 18h (one drink & one dessert) was a very nice touch, although we only had it one day as we normally spent those hours outside. The restaurant food was very good and not more expensive than in Ubud town. Breakfast was good and very abundant, you have to select your breakfast at anytime during the previous day. The pool is small but given our daytime activity schedule, it was perfect for an evening relaxing time. We only used it a couple of times and when we did it was enough to keep our 3 energetic boys entertained for a while. My wife used the spa (Signature massage) one day and said it was very nice. Service: all the staff were really very nice at all times. They learned our names (even my 3 sons') and always used the name when addressing us. This may not be important in itself but it is the icing on the overall great service. I think it shows that they really want to make you feel welcome at all times and are happy to go the extra mile. Even one of our twins said one day during breakfast "they work hard to be very nice to us". All in all, a happy time at Junjungan
Fantastic stay - getting better as years go by!”
this is our 3rd time staying at junjungan resort each time we visit bali. this time we went with some friends and they totally love this resort! the resort is away from ubud town in the middle of padi fields. they have about 10 bedrooms only and usually fully booked quite quickly. the rooms are big and spacious with big beds that you fall asleep into very quickly. the breakfast improved quite alot compared to the first time we stayed 5-6 years ago! sumptuous breakfast i would say now....though not buffet style but you will be filled! even the dinner at the hotel was better and cheaper than some of the restaurants at ubud town. the service crew are all very nice, smiley and personable. the hotel doesnt have a big pool but have bicycles for free rental and provide free shuttle to ubud town from 8am to 10pm. we moved to rumi villa (3bedroom villa) in seminyak after that and it was still not comparable at all to junjungan overall service and comfort stay.
Nature and Relaxation”
We stayed in the Junjungan Ubud Hotel & Spa for some relaxation and rice fields and weren't disappointed. The hotel is located outside of Ubud, but provides a free shuttle service. We never had to wait long and the drivers were always on time. The rice fields behind the hotel are really nice to see and sitting on the balcony was really perfectly relaxing. The breakfast was very tasty, as was the provided afternoon tea. Being located in the middle of nature resulted in some guests in our room, namely ants and geckos. While the ants kept to their ant street and the geckos kept the mosquitos away we had no problems with this.
Friendly, great location, unforgettable hotel”
my friends and i loved staying at the junjungan ubud hotel & spa! the staff is extremely accommodating, happy to help arrange tours and is always smiling. the free breakfast and afternoon tea are delicious and despite the hotel's location just outside of downtown ubud, there is a free shuttle available for use until 10pm. the hotel is only 10 rooms, so the staff knows you by name and is able to provide personable service. the rooms are extremely charming (ours overlooked the beautiful rice paddy) and each room has the standard amenities that you would expect like free wifi, tv, safe, etc.
The All you need Hotel in Ubud”
When we decided to stay in Ubud, we were looking at the Ubud experience; the rice field view from the room, fresh air, and relaxing atmosphere far away from the city. The Junjungan Ubud Hotel & Spa provides just the above. We immediately felt in love with this place, and the facts that the staffs called us through our first name made us feel very comfortable and homey. We definitely enjoyed our stay at the Junjungan Ubud Hotel & Spa !!!!!!
Very Nice Hotel with Incredible Service”
My husband and I stayed at Junjungan Ubud Hotel & Spa and were very pleased with our choice. The staff was incredibly attentive. The room was very nice, if a little dark, though the view of rice paddies from our balcony made up for that. The food was great, particularly the huge breakfast. As far as we were concerned, the hotel's only shortcomings were its distance from Ubud center, though the hotel provided a free shuttle which was available upon request, and the small swimming pool. WOuld highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday.
