Another Awesome Stay at JW Marriott Phuket”

Awesome rooms with beautiful gardens and excellent service

Our vacation was a two part-the first was our initial stay where my wife arrived by herself with our two children via rental car from Andamann Car Rentals. My wife paid ~$119 USD for garden room and got a complimentary upgrade on top of that. Children loved the rooms and complimentary breakfast which they stated was good enough. Plenty of selection for the discerning eater and plenty of activities at the kids center for 3 and 6 yrs old kids. We have stayed numerous times mostly in the vacation club side. This was our first time on JW side of hotel. We couldn't complain as the quality of the JW is matchless. The second half of trip we stayed 2 weeks on the Marriott Phuket Beach club side (rm 3343) of Marriott at Mai Khao beach. Its the standard two bedroom villa which holds 6 adults. We love the old thai style architecture compared to the Marriott Mai Khao beach side which is more modern. Hotel is starting to show its age but nevertheless it was another stay for the record books. We used the kids center a lot this time as we had two kids 3 and 6 with us. Lots of different activities for them to do. In addition, ate a number of times at Turtle village (Swensen ice cream, Thai Express and Coffee club). JW/Phuket beach club have a shuttle that goes between turtle and resort every 15 minutes. There was a bunch of street vendors outside of turtle to buy food like deep fried bananas, coffee, etc. As far as service at the Marriott it was excellent. We had an issue when a vendor for our boat trip tried to deliver our trip video to the wrong room. The Marriott sent a representative to our room to help retrieve our video from the other room which was a nice gesture. We used the concierge to book a trip to James Bond island, etc and it was wonderful. I can't say enough about the JW here as the management and experience was memorable.

Fantastic and relaxing stay”

Service, gardens and location

This was our third visit to the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa in the past 5 years and we were so pleasantly surprised to see that the exceptional standards of the hotel in terms of service and general upkeep were still as high as before. As one of the older hotels in the area, the JW Marriott is well-established - there is a little wear & tear but it does not detract from the beauty of the hotel and its surrounds. The gardens are absolutely spectacular and such a treat to walk through. The facilities on-site are varied and suitable for all-types of travellers; couples, solo, families and business. There is plenty of choice for food from the various restaurants and, even though you are paying resort prices, the service and quality of food is of a high-standard. The hotel offers a multitude of activities for guests to participate in each day, as well having a state-of-the-art fitness centre. tennis courts and bicycles for guests to use. If all of the above is not enough, there is the Mandara Spa which is absolutely world class. We have had the privilege of visiting a multitude of day spas across the globe and this is a favourite. The treatments are heavenly and really what everyone deserves to enjoy when they are holidaying in paradise. In close proximity to the airport and easily accessible for day trips and the like, there's really no reason to stay anywhere else. We'll definitely be returning as soon as we can.

JW Marriott is fantastic”

Food, food again and staff

I strongly believe you get what you pay for. We had 5 previous nights at another resort, which was abysmal in comparison to the JW Marriott. The food choice was vast and the food exceptional. There is food to suit everyone's taste, the top end restaurants there aren't cheap but on world standards I believe it is well priced for what you get. The staff, right down to the grounds people, were friendly and just happy to say hello. We have a 1 year old, and all the staff just wanted to hold and play with our child. Rooms where great, I just wish there was an option of a separate lounge, so that when baby goes to sleep mum and dad can stay awake. There is however a 2 bedroom villa which we would consider staying at next time. It's not cheap. (This is the JW Marriott I'm talking about here, there are three Marriott options at this resort within 500m of each other) There is the option of the Marriott vacation club apartments which come fully equipped with a kitchen and washer. These apartments are normally reserved for Vacation timeshare members, but after looking online you can get them when they are not so busy. Facilities where fantastic and well maintained. There is nothing worse than staying at a 5 star hotel, and finding out that the $600 USD a night room you got for $190 USD, is run down. Not so for the JW Marriott. There was just not enough time on our three nights to get around the entire resort and enjoy it. We are already planning our next trip back. I'm summary, if you want to get away from some of the other so called resorts over run by certain ethnic groups and wish to enjoy your fine dining experience, quality of resort and over all friendliness of the staff then this is the resort for you. If your budget doesn't extend to spending a little more than normal and enjoying yourself then this is not the place for you. (Oil massage $4500 Bhat, but for the surroundings it's worth it every once in a while I think)

Great long weekend getaway”

Siam Deli, Children's pool, Service

We had a short but excellent stay at the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. We had been to Krabi (nearby Phuket) before and so had experienced many of the things that are unique to this part of coastal Thailand. So we were happy to spend all of our three days on the resort grounds, including the private beach. The sea was too choppy for swimming, but provides an amazing backdrop for sunsets, and the beach is clean and not crowded. The JW Marriott's pools overlook the sea as well, and cater to all types of interests (e.g., shallow areas for babies, slide for kids, progressively deeper sections for those who want to swim, and a swim up bar). The best part of our stay might be the food-- we did not try the higher end dinner restaurants, mostly because we were happy with the offerings at the Siam Deli. The baked goods stood out in particular, and most were featured at the breakfast buffet each morning. Finally, the kids' club was a nice option to get our two kids (5 and 2 y.o.) out of the sun but still out of the hotel room.

great resort but too far from everywhere”

breakfast, kids club, cleanliness

We stayed for 4 nights at JW Marriott Phuket. Overall it's a great resort with 5-star facilities and very nice tropical environment. All the staffs were very friendly and helpful during my stay, providing everything I asked for (even a plaster for my child's small injury on her foot). My favorite was the kids club! They managed it very clean and provided free/paid programs everyday for the kids to enjoy. My child took Thai dessert making, girls hair studio, and sea shell fossil making and she just loved all those activities so much. It was fortunate that they provide such programs for kids as the weather wasn't so friendly for beach activities during my stay. It rained most of the times due to monsoon season. The only downside is the location. It's basically far from everywhere (except the airport). No tourist attractions, nearby restaurants whatsoever. We just had to have our meal at the hotel all the time. The hotel has many selection of food from Thai cuisine to Japanese, Italian, etc. but pricey!! It takes about 45 min to downtown but it wasn't easy for us to take a day trip far from the hotel since we had a 6-months old baby. So basically we didn't really go to Phuket but JW Marriott resort only. If you wish to explore the city this hotel is not recommended. But as for the hotel itself it's worth to stay.

Not quite up to expectation”

Lovely gardens, great pools, great view from room, very friendly staff, very good service, the little extras such as fruit bowl each day, bath salts, towel animals
Too family/children oriented, a long way from anywhere, food was even more expensive than expected

We stayed in the latter half of October 2008 in a deluxe sea view room (South wing). After reading other traveller reviews we decided to spend the second half of our holiday at the JW Marriott. The purpose was to spend time in Patong Beach and do lots of activities and then chill out at Mai Khao. In hindsight we should've done it the other way around. The hotel is a long way from anything (other than the airport) which we saw as a positive to be isolated and relax. Having to spend pretty much all of our time in the resort we expected that when they say there is a "children free pool" or "children must always be supervised" or "no inflatable toys" they mean it and enforce it. We went there to specifically get away from children to have a quite relaxing time. In this sense the hotel was a long way from living up to expectation. In all fairness we had researched and knew the food would be expensive, unfortunately the decline in the world economy resulted in bad exchange rates and almost an extra 25% in cost (fortunately we had been able to book the hotel well in advance). This meant a burger at the "cafe" was about $20 AUD and not that good. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and service to match. Even the house keeping staff were helpful and happy to provide extra bottled water each day on request. A buffet breakfast was included in our room rate and had plenty of variety. Eggs were cooked on the spot to your liking - boiled, poached, fried, scrambled or omelette. We had room service a couple of times and the food was always reasonably timely, very nice and good quality. We ate at the "Thai" restaurant on our last night and the food was fantastic. We stayed for 5 nights, probably 3 would've been enough. Tried a massage treatment at the spa, very enjoyable but expensive as are most day spas. Would we go back again? Possibly, depending on what we wanted to get out of our stay. This time round we were very disappointed with the non enforce

Best hotel to date!”

Friendly staff, gorgeous beach and hotel, and high-speed internet!

A close friend recommended JW Marriott Phuket, her comments were really positive. When we transffered from Patong to Mai Khao we were impressed with what the hotel has to offer. Just the mere thought of the looking at the surroundings is a treat itself, the staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the rooms and facilities were really luxurious. All in all, it was a trip worth remembering. We had a blast staying in the hotel. This ended up extending our stay. Will definitely be back for more awesome vacations!

Heaven on Earth!! ”

Everything was amazing! The most sensational pools, gardens, rooms, activities, staff. I could not have imagined a better resort!
The food and beverages were a little more expensive than we had anticipated.

The JW Marriott resort and spa in Phuket was the most amazing resort we have ever stayed at. The gardens and pools were sensational and the rooms were extremely well appointed. The staff left us wanting for nothing. They were always there with a towel or a drink before you even asked for one. They anticipated our every need. The resident elephants were certainly a highlight of our stay, as was the fabulous breakfast put on every morning at Cucina restaurant. The hotel is extremely large, but we always felt like we were the only guests there. The only down side for us was that the food/dining was a little more expensive than we had anticipated and the hotel was very isolated (an hour from Patong - which for me was a good thing)- so dining off premises was made very difficult. However, we will definitely return to this hotel as expensive or not - it was worth every penny. I will be counting down the days until then!

Still My Idea of Paradise”

Wonderful natural and hotel setting, very good food, typical Thai hospitality
Far from Phuket, cost of hotel transportation

Though we travel extensively for business and pleasure, the JW Marriott Phuket has always held a special place in our hearts. It is located in a beautiful, peaceful, natural setting, complimented by the design of the facility. As with our first stay, our time there was a welcome change from the hustle, and getting hustled, of Bangkok. I agree with other reviewers who comment that the cost of the food is the same as North America but people know it is a Marriott when they decide to stay there! Again, we agree with other comments about the extremely high cost of the hotel shuttle which I consider gouging.

Perfect as Always”

If you want some pampering then you came to the right place. You'll find everything you need right on the premises. They have programs to keep kids and adults occupied all throughout the week. If you venture a bit outside the hotel gates toward the main road, you'll find a convenience store that holds everything that siam deli/hotel convenience store does not. However, if you are looking to explore the island I would recommend choosing a hotel in the Patong area as it is closer to all of the main attractions. I usually book 3 hotels: 1 in Patong to go shop/explore Phuket, 1 in Phi Phi for the beautiful sea, and JW Marriott Phuket at the very end (we don't like to stay in one place for too long).

Beach Jungle Paradise”

The immediate surroundings --the foliage, fauna and extraordinary landscapes, waterfalls and ponds left me breathless. An then there's the beach!
I personally found the restaurants a bit on the expensive side. And the spa a little out of my reach at $200 for a 90 minute treatment.

From the initial greeting with the orchid/palm necklace and refreshing mint drink served upon moment upon arrival, I knew I was in for a pampering. The service was sublime during my stay. And an upgraded room to boot! The rooms were exemplary and the accoutrement --fresh fruits, bath salts and 'spirit room' were unexpected and so appreciated! The three pools seemed to have their own personality --the colors of the water and the profile of people who selected to relax at each of them. I so enjoyed the variety of restaurants and the option to visit The Siam Deli open 24/7. This place is fabulous. I can tell you I most certainly with be back and have been so impressed that I have been recommending JW Marriott, Phuket to everyone. Thanks for a most memorable, luxurious experience! Sincerely, Geri Arnais

Exceptional”

My husband and I met our son and his family of three children under 10 at JW Marriott Phuket. Our grandson has a severe food allergy - the staff at every bar and restaurant knew of this and could not have been more helpful. The Fitness Centre Team especially Sharon, Cake and Bank were so obliging and helpful teaching mid 60 year olds yoga, stretching and balance activities with care and diligence. The children's activities, the beach activities, the cycling, the wonderful restaurants especially Kabuki and Cucina - all so good. The staff, from the gardeners, the cleaning staff, front of hotel staff - everyone was welcoming, polite and helpful.

5* beach resort, handy to airport, far from town ”

Beach, Rooms, Gardens

Stayed at JW Marriott as Mai Khao was closest beach area to the airport. Luxury hotel over large grounds with nice gardens and décor. Rooms where large and in good condition as was the bathroom. This is more of a family hotel, lots of pools and activities to keep the family amused. The beach, when we went [MARCH] was very clean and the water was blue. I have heard that it can get very dirty at certain times of the year, but it was pristine for us. Closish to airport (20minutes) and our trips to/from experienced no traffic. Far from Patong and Phuket City in terms of time. We stayed in Patong earlier and its at least an hour in traffic from there. But overall, satisfied with the JW Marriott

Spectacular Resort”

Great amenities, clean, nice rooms, good food
far from other Patong Beach and the City of Phuket

My wife and I loved our stay at the JW Marriott. We have stayed at several resorts over the years and this instantly became one of our favorites. The location, design, and amenities provide ultimate comfort and relaxation. The staff was extremely friendly and very attentive. The pools, restaurants, and exercise facility were all excellent. I was worried about being far from many of the other attractions at Phuket but found myself loving the resort and preferring it over the other locations we visited. We loved it so much we decided to stay an additional 3 days.

Gorgeous hotel, sincere and thoughtful staff”

Food, service, beach

I stayed there for 3 nights. It was rain season and it did rain every day during my stay. But just hanging around in the resort was very relaxing. Room was standard for a resort but still very nice. You will be happy to see the little towel dolls prepared by the room attendant each time you walk in the room. And the attendant Pong was the best i had ever met. Staff there was well-trained, helpful and always wore a cheerful smile. Toilet was blocked at a night, quite unplesant. Staff came and fix it quickly. They were plenty choices of restaurants. Cucina and Ginja were good. A drink at the poolside Salsa Cafe was just amazing. Pools and the Mai Khao beach was of walkable distance. Don't miss the Thai massage at the little hut by the beach. Wife would be free if you were a member of Marriott Award (free joining). You'd love it from the first step into the resort.

Very Good Hotel”

Room is very good (large), swimming pool is excellent, and breakfast is also excellent

JW Marriott is a choice if you choose to relax in the hotel and not going anywhere. The hotel is located in the north of Phuket, which is vary far from the attraction which is mainly in the southern part of the island. However, this hotel has an excellent room, swimming pool and other facility that we can enjoy. The beach however has a rather big waves, but we still enjoy swimming in the beach. Breakfast is also excellent with a lot of variety (including Dim Sum, which my children really enjoy).

Another great stay at the Marriott”

Children's pool

this is our umpteenth stay at the jw marriott. we got 2 deluxe rooms and then upgraded when we got there because we needed adjoining rooms. lovely rooms as usual. the food this time around wasn't as good as our last stay. we had a thai dinner at the restaurant at mai khao near marriott beach club, and it was a major disappointment. last time (in feb) we had a wonderful dinner at marriott cafe and ginja. both were closed for a private function during our stay. in any case, poolside burgers and thai food were still good. we got room service a few times. overall, any family with children should stay at the marriott. the swimming pool wiht the slide is a major hit.

Great place to relax in phuket”

Great service, relaxing environment, value for money

The resort offers a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Phuket without giving up the access to the famous attractions there. The resort is located in the quiet beach of Mai Khao which is about an hour away by road from Patong. The resort provides great facilities including a good selection of restaurants, well equipped gym, excellent spa and a great swimming pool not to mention the private and quiet beach access making it unnecessary to leave the resort during the stay there. The service levels is exceptional and consistent with what you would expect from a 5 star resort. On a whole, this is an excellent place to stay in Phuket if you do not need regular access to the tourist hot spots.

5 star, full service resort”

Friendly staff, grounds, gardens, pools, restaurants, quiet location.
No WIFI in rooms, expensive food and spa.

JW Marriott is a big resort located only 15 min from the airport: three swimming pools, award winning italian food, steakhouse, fine Japanese and Chinese restaurants, spa, fitness centre, exellent breakfast buffet. Great variety of activities for children. By the pools they served ice cold water frequently, lovely on a hot sunny day :-) The beach is looking nice, but it's steep and no good for swimming.

Heaven”

It was the best hotel stay our family has ever experienced, sheer opulance. The service from every person in the resort was fantastic, breakfast to die for! Counting the days to get back there!
No cons, to good to be true!

The jw Marriott was the most awsome resort we have ever been to. The service was impecable, pool staff could not do enough for you, iced water fresh towels anything you need in seconds! Golf buggies around the resort, again all the guys smile and nothing to much trouble. The décor and gardens are to die for, everywhere you look are absolutly beautiful, you seriously feel like you are on cloud nine! The Siam deli was also again fantastic all the fresh Danishes you could ask for, we also had dinner there. And was very reasonable. Happy hour at the blue bar was awsome again, service faultless. All the staff from reception to the house cleaners where lovely. Do yourself a favour and just go there! Perfect place to get away from all the hustle of patong!
