Kakslauttanen did not disappoint.”
Contrary to the other reviews I had an amazing experience. 1. The food was delicious. There were choices all of which sounded amazing. I stayed 2 nights, and had 3 dinners. All were exceptional. 2. The Kelo Igloo is well worth it. If you need a bit more space would recommend. there was enough space and privacy to make it comfortable. The bathroom included a Sauna which was a nice touch. There is a fully supplied kitchenette if you decided to bring your own food. 3. The staff I interacted with were all overly helpful. They were able to make my birthday weekend overly special. I will say as an English speaker only the staff were able to communicate with me and were very friendly. I had no issues with customer service. We arrived (my sibling and I) on a Thursday and it was not crowded. The weekend does bring more guests so if possible book during the week. 4. The grounds were groomed for trails and stairs were "de-iced" as much as you can in the artic circle with constant fresh snow falling. 5.The tours arranged by the hotel were great. There are husky and snowmobiling and the company running that provided a shuttle and an amazing experience. Overall I had a wonderful birthday and this location provided a great view of the Arouras was amazing. There are a few small things I would change, but over all this resort provided an overall amazing experience. Notes for US traveler bring the following: *washcloth/buff puff and shampoo and other toiletries. *slippers / house shoes *lots and lots of layers if going in winter *euros to tip the staff on excursions *wool socks *an adventurous spirit and get ready for walking.

Amazing experience ”
Pros: -I booked early and got to stay in small igloo in west village at USD 640 and i think it was totally worth the money, lots to do and see -We stayed in Rovaniemi, Inari and Ivalo (where is much north) but at the end we could only get to see aurora light in Rovaniemi, inside the village -Design of the village/accommodation is great, sauna is included Cons: -We were told there will be warning sound to be beeped inside the igloo in case of aurora light, but there was none. -3 pieces of glasses on our igloo (no.10 in west) top-face were broken, there was not hole so it was not dangerous but you could not see things through, which lost the point. Maintenance Team may need to work on it. - It is not allowed to fly drones in the village, abit disappointed but can understand it might help protecting the glass igloos

Like a dream come true”
It was quite far away from everywhere indeed. We drove from Rovaniemi and it took us 3.5 hrs to be there. Staffs at reception were quite nice, but clearly not that competent... one forgot to put us down on the dinner reservation list so the waiter couldn't find our name, and the other took forever to register us for the husky tour. The hotel area was quite big, you car cannot go anywhere near the cabin, only by walk. It was quite hard to drag some pieces of big luggage on the thick snow for a 10mins walk. But everything paid off. The igloo was exactly the way I ever imagined it to be. They were located across a river, on the little hillside by the forest. Your got enough privacy as the whole igloo was surrounded by snow, and a good view from every igloo. We were not lucky enough to see the aurora but a whole night with a whole sky of stars and the milky way was like a dream come true. Room facility was simple but adequate, except there was no shower.

The hotel stay”
We’ve been there for just a day and we loved everything. The staffs are very helpful and kind. We stayed in a glass igloo and we had a chance to see auras which is great. The igloo was nice but the first thing we saw was unchanged bed sheets which was a bit disappointing, but they immediately came and changed them. Other than that it was an amazing experience and definitely recommended.

Too expensive for what you get”
the setting is perfect. The experience is less. For the extremely high price That you pay you get a tiny glass igloo without a shower. For a army style common shower you will have to walk several minutes in -15c. Dinner (included) was terrible. We had to switch to alacart menu (which was also very poor) so ended paying extra for dinner. no question a new chef is needed here. Breakfast was decent. we missed the Aurora as we had a cloudy night which Obviously wasn’t the hotels fault but was the only thing that could have saved our day....

No hot water for shower in a Winter night”
My partner took shower for around 10 mins but after that I couldn't have hot water anymore. It was a horrible experience that I needed to boil water by the kettle for a shower in a cold winter.

Above average”
We were so disappointed with our trip to Kaslautanen resort because: 1. The staffs were not friendly 2. They were more concern about the Payment than taking care of us 3. We paid for the big room but the gave us small instead 4. The room that they gave us at 1 am wasn’t cleaned up

Acceptable”
The glass room is super beautiful but came in mind no Shower in it! Staff are nice but they are overwhelmed, very few and many many costumers. As experienced I would advice you to stay one day or 2 Maximum.

NOT RECOMMENDED”
Terrible customer service - staffs did not have sense of urgency even they missed us for airport transfer, miscommunications happened very often; TERRIBLE winter activity (Aurora Hunting with Horse Sleigh), they arranged aurora hunting at 7:15pm for us and it seemed like the Ukraine horse guy already knew we were not able to see the aurora, in the end we paid 130€ for a freaking boring horse ride without seeing aurora; in the cabin hot water only available for certain amount then you had to wait for 2 hours for hot water, microwave was missing, heater was not working very well; guests difficult to communicate with management when you were back in your cabin; Aurora alarm only available by 11pm; overall, Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort was NOT recommended and you SHOULD AVOID!

No respect for the guests”
I have stayed in igloo 15 on the west village with my husband and 2 other couples from 26 to 28 of February of 2020. On the check in, it was debit on my debit card 400 euros, and the recepcionist said that big amount of money was going to be back on my card when I checked out. But that did not happen. When I checked out I had to pay more 632 euros regarding the tours that I did. Since it had already being debit on my debit card on the check in 400 euros, I said to the recepcionist that I should pay only 232 euros, but she said that was only a precaution and the 400 euros was going to be back on my card on friday, 28 of February of 2020. The thing is, today is 3 of March of 2020 and the 400 euros are still not back in my card. In this period, I have called the hotel several times, talked to different people, explained my problem over and over again. That is outrageous. Besides that, we just payed too much for a not comfortable room and not good food.

Overpriced and poorly planned ”
We stayed in Kelo Igloo Suite which the room itself is very nice with the log cabin and igloo combination, with own personal sauna. There is only 1 heater which is way too few for how big the room is. Room was cold even when on highest possible. If you use the sauna the heat turns off so room becomes freezing. We payed so much for the room to have a fireplace and in order to use it you have to pay 35 euro for firewood, which is ridiculous when we already paid 900 euro for the room. They nickel and dime you, charge for every little thing and everything is overpriced. The kelo suites are too close to each other with bright lights right outside the windows, which makes the igloo less useful to watch the stars and northern lights. They shouldn’t turn off the lights at night or plan the location better. Overall disappointed in the stay for the money. We stayed in 2 other Aurora suites with glass ceilings that we had better experience at and were half the price.

Poor and unorganised check-in service”
We kept on queuing up for exactly one hour to enter our igloo. When we almost entered our igloo and just realised that the staff gave us the wrong key. We tried to reach the reception by phone call at outdoor (the temperature was like -10 Degree Celsius )but no one picked up the call. Eventually we entered the wrong igloo and walked back to the reception again in such a cold weather. Frankly, we were quite disappointed about the arrangement of the check-in.

Staff need more training for professional.”
We found some staffs not so helpful but they are kind and nice. They need to know as much as all information. especially the time table of Airport bus. (We missed the bus because both information of East Village and West Village provided me wrong information.) We were stayed in Kelo Igloo if compare between price and quality we were disappointed because we expect for the cleanliness the room wasn't daily clean the just came in the evening to knock the door and asking if we need more fresh towels. For services mind and helpful, that we're expected as well. we forgot something on the Airport bus and there was a Hotel Shuttle Van, but they're not willing to help to drive just a few Km to find the bus that was stop just next stop for next round to back to Airport. But the staff was tried to call the Airport bus company but they saids nothing found on the bus... We keep asking them both East and West Villages they just asked me room number and name but never contact us back.

Busy atmosphere all the time”
If you're looking for a resort that is quiet and dark enough to see the northern lights, this isn't the answer. It's not as good as you might think, with basic rooms, a poorly ventilated kitchen. The breakfast was not appetizing, a crowded atmosphere, and bright lights that make it difficult to see the sky at night.
