Perfect stay in kalaw”
We loved this hotel !!! The location is perfect and only a quick walk to the centre of the town. The hotel is very pretty and super clean. Staff was helpful and very friendly. The bed was so comfortable too :-) We had a lovely breakfast. I just really liked the homely feeling we had immediately.

Worth it with a discount rate”
I booked online and so it was like $50 and they put you in the newer block. I thought it was totally worth it to do once, but only at $50. It's in a lovely location and it's a very nice and comfy room they give you. Sure it's a bit away from the centre but Kalaw is tiny. They have done their best with restoration, but the exterior is the best bit . There's not much atmosphere inside, but there's a good buffet breakfast that has mini-pancakes and bacon (rare finds). For some reason they've gone western-style with the buffet and so you get semi-decent attempts at western food instead of the delicious shan food they could have easily knocked up. Staff are awesome and they have their own map of all the colonial villas in the area.
Serene and classic get away”
I enjoyed the atmosphere so much I prolonged my stay. Loved the colonial buildings, the furniture, the crisp white bedding, the coolness of the room, listening to people living, rather than traffic. The hotel is set in a nice, big garden. The staff are helpful. The breakfast (only food I had) is good. If you want to give yourself a treat, this is where to go.

Serene stay in lush colonial setting away from the ”buzz” of Kalaw centre”
Helpful staff, nice garden, nice nooks and crannies to have a seat in throughout the garden. I absolutely loved the spacious rooms with crispy white linen. Also enjoyed the fresh air coming in through open windows. Very pleasant with the rooms being cool inside, as a contrast to the hot temperature (but still cool for Myanmar) outside. I see why one would like to retreat here, hiking in the near area and retreating for a relaxing evening in the serenity of the wonderful rooms.
Brilliant bar and gardens”
The hotel has a lovely old colonial feel and lush gardens. Their bar is atmospheric and their gin and tonics are top notch. We weren’t particularly impressed with the menu or breakfast quality though. But overall the hospitality and local Myanmarese service staff - who helped us with every need and query - made this an amazing stay. It’s also a short walk to the clock tower and a great massage place. Definitely two thumbs up!
Beautiful location however we disappointed we were in some new rooms rather than the old hotel. May have missed this at booking - but the new rooms overlook a car park and fire pit which on the night we stayed was quite loud. The food was good, staff helpful and setting lovely.
Far from city, beautiful hotel”
About 10-15 mins walk to city. Just a little dark at night. Beautiful heritage hotel, breakfast was a spread. Friendly staffs, checked in at unearthly hour at 3am because of bus driver drove too fast. Luckily there’s room to check in thanks to helpful staffs!
Very nice hotel, well maintained and value for money!”
It is a pity that we only stayed one night at this hotel. The hotel is really very nice and well maintained even though it is old and an heritage/colonel house. The breakfast spread was great with quality food. Rooms were of a good size and the place is really clean. Would definitely stay another 1-2 nights more and do some trekking in Kalaw the next time we visit.
Old Style Elegance”
We deliberately selected this hotel for some old style elegance for Christmas Day, and as a 2 night stopover before doing a trek to Inle Lake. It fitted the bill perfectly: tastefully renovated, attentive staff (especially Linn), nestled in the hills, and a lovely touch having local carol singers on Christmas Day. Some little things that would have made it even better (intended constructively) are: don't give residents the impression of being 'stung' by charging (even though not much) for use of equipment e.g. mountain bikes (in good condition but having four or more not three would make more sense), tennis court/equipment especially when the court is mediocre and rackets and balls are in an appalling condition (although a quick run to the market by the staff resolved the ball crisis); and especially review your breakfast buffet offering ... it was the least impressive of all 5 hotels we stayed in AND inconsistent in quality compared to the fantastic dinner we had on Christmas Day.
Beautiful cottage house / blocks, many nice pictures taken. Nice sun rise. Our trip fall on December month which is cold at Kalaw. Luckily hotel has very good beds and blankets. Breakfast spread is very good too. Will come again.
Old english style!”
Set in beautifull garden this old building from the beginning of the 19th century makes still a fantastic place to relax. Staff is helpfull, breakfast is complete and the rooms are old of course but perfectly uptodate. I would go back straight away!
Great hotel and very relaxing and peaceful enviromnent ”
I had a great stay at Kalaw Heritage. It is a small hotel, as it used to be the governor's house, and the architecture was beautiful. The room was very spacious. There is no A/C in the room, but since Kalaw is so high up in the hill, there is no need for A/C. Biggest highlight is the bed and the pillows were very comfortable. Though the hotel is a bit out of town, it's still only a 10-15 mins walk to town, very accessible.
The facility is beautiful, well maintained with well trained staff. Building is old British style, has lovely garden and a functional tennis court! I decided on last min to stay there, with morning arrival to Kalaw. I e-mailed them about possibility of early morning check-in, and got an e-mail within 1h, letting me stay from the morning. Thank you again for your hospitality
It was good for the money..abit noisy and the rooms were not sound proof. Breakfast was ok”
Rooms are not sound proof..could hear upstairs at night time moving around. They have no aircons in the rooms..only fans. Only 3 tv channels and they were fuzzy. Beautiful views and close enough to most shops.. staff are nice but very quiet
Colonial era gem”
This was my second time at Heritage and it is even better than the first time. Removed from the hustle and bustle of the market area, it has character from the preservation and restoration of its colonial era buildings, but spotlessly clean and updated facilities. A perfect place to set off for self-guided treks through the surrounding hills or stroll back into town. A short walk from the railway station as well. In the heat of Myanmar's dry season, a welcome relief. Excellent included breakfast and Shan regional food in their attractive dining room.
A lovely and elegant little spot”
There is a part of Kalaw that is noise, bustle, and dust. Although you don't want to overlook that local color, that doesn't mean you want to sleep there! The Kalaw heritage hotel is set a bit further into the hills, away from the traffic, but not the village homes and hills that make Kalaw what it is. An excellent price for the quality of rooms and facilities, nice gardens and grounds to lounge in, and a surprisingly (again, for the price) competent restaurant and bar on site.
We overjoyed staying at this fabulous hotel. The breakfast was good (but not too much tho). We stayed at three different rooms at Acron A201, A215 and A208. I would say A208 is the best as its on the upper floor and centre while you can see breathtaking view from the bed. The mattress is really nice. The room have the heater so it will make you warm for sure. The hotel staffs are very attentive and polite especially receptionist karen girl who always welcome to each and every guests with never ending smile. The hotel is close to train station and 5 mins walk to maluca (crazy in portuguse) restaurant, amazing bar which is opened in Dec 2018. I will definately go back to kalaw and stay at KHH. Cant wait to go back as its probably the best hotel ever i stayed in my life.
Nice colonial style hotel with beautiful flowers and trees planted within compound. Breakfast selection is simple and good. Staffs are friendly and allowed early check-in and late check-out at no additional costs. Restaurant menu is very limited and expensive. Bed is a bit hard. It will be good if there is mosquito net installed in the room as the mosquitos in Kalaw are gigantic. OVerall, it is recommendable for the price paid.
Should have at least a 32in TV.
Free Wi-Fi in all rooms!
