BEST hotel we’ve stayed at in a while”
Stayed here only for 1D/1N, but it was incredible. If we ever come back to Khao Lak, we are definitely staying here. Hotel is absolutely beautiful and so clean. Seems very very new, but not so new that things are still being worked out. Only complaint is that there aren’t elevators that I know of. And there are lots of steps and random plateaus everywhere...so it’s not wheelchair friendly, OR heavy luggage friendly. Literally we carried our luggage up and down flights of stairs. Restaurant by the beach was very pretty, especially the sparkly pool at night. But the food was mediocre. Steaks aren’t the same, so just don’t expect that. Even the Thai food felt “modified” for foreign tastes. Seemed like they had good things to do everywhere for everyone: bikes, taxis to market, kayaking, yoga, crafts for kids, spa, etc. We really wanted to take advantage of the spa, but just didn’t have enough time. The room was phenomenal. Bed was high and super comfy. Room was super roomy and plenty of accommodations for whatever you could need. Bathtub was awesome. Shower was awesome. Toilet was, a toilet. Loved the ambiance of everything about the hotel and in the rooms. The breakfast was also super cool. Big international buffet. If I could have one other suggestion for the hotel, it’d be that the light switches were all messed up. You flicked them UP to turn them off. And flicked them DOWN to turn it on. Super illogical. Not sure if that’s just our room, but worth looking into.
It was an absolute pleasure being at Kalima Resort during our break in February. The weather was delightful and the hotel itself was stunning. We have young children and it was great to see such a lovely attitude to children. The staff delighted at our little ones (3 months and 2 years). They placed a cot in our room and have a special kids play area, sand area and pool! They always were quick to bring a high chair for our meals. The beach area was a bit of a walk from our room but it was well worth it - stunning sunset views in a tropical jungle beach. Definitely worth the visit.
Good choice for holidays ”
Nice hotel with many activities you can enjoy with the properties like canoeing, bar, swimming, private beach, gym, kids playroom and little library. It was about 20 mins far from the sight seeings like night market or some beaches but they do have bus shuttle to get you there. Most of the staffs were nice and friendly. We were happy with our deluxe room which was more private and spacious . As we stayed there for 5 days so could say that breakfast was good and quite various with Thai and international food, esp the Kalima muesli was yummy. One thing we didn’t satisfy much was about the make up room service,we had 2 days in 5 days of stay that didn’t have room make up but since we talked with the staffs, they took responsibility for that and offered us fruit platter for apologizing . So overall in Kalima was pretty good, worth for the holidays .
Pros: -Good promotion price during covid -Welcome drink and fruits -Check in was easy, excellent service from our driver -Many free activities inside the resort: kayak, SUP, pool, gym, short walk to the beach -Many photoshoot spots, great for photography or selfish -Excellent breakfast which was included, many choices including thai food, western breakfast, fruits, etc Pros: -Location is far from everything, no 711 or other restaurants nearby -Room design is questionable, some rooms have bathtubs on the balcony but other people can see you -Room size is average or below average -Restaurant and bar inside resort are expensive for the quality of food, drink and service, we spent 1300 baht for our dinner of 2 with drinks, food, drinks and the service quality were below average Bottom line: We hope the f&b services and quality will be improved. We will go back with future discounts like now but we will consider eating outside the resort.
Overall very good. Probably best for younger ones”
Good hotel. Quite new. Facilities are excellent. There is a large gym for adults next to a large playroom for tots. The swimming area has plenty of kids safe sections too. If only I were traveling with kids. We were just a couple looking for quiet, which we found thanks to very well-insulated rooms. The facilities were very good but sadly under-utilised during our stay. (Due to COVID). Good resort, but personally I might stay in Khao Lak proper next to be nearer to some external restaurant options. Nevertheless, if you are looking to stay in a resort the whole time, it would be a perfect choice.
I really enjoyed staying there. The rooms are beautiful furnished, it’s modern and clean. Staff was always polite, friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurants tastes good and is not overpriced. You‘re allowed to rent a Kajak for 1hr a day for free, there is also a boule field free-useable. There are daily free of charge activities as well like Yoga or Tai Chi at the beach. The beach with its big rocks is just beautiful, it is also clean and the perfect place to relax. The hotel offers shuttles to the ‚city‘, but only a few times a day. In my opinion the resort is absolutely worth the price as they offer a lot for their guests. I would definitely come back :)
Good best for relax and Honeymoon”
We had a very good experience here, Kalima is a new 5 star hotel room are clean and good designed, The stuff are very kind to us and take care of almost everything. Thank you Kalima and we will return for sure next time.
Not as it appears to be”
Quite disappointed with almost everything about this resort. I don't like leaving "bad" reviews but basic things are not met at this resortI have been 3 star hotels with better service and more professional approach so this is not even close to 5 star. Kalima is dark coloured new and unfinished resort which has been opened in the rush. Staff are nice people but apart from only few they are not trained at all. Basic housekeeping and room cleaning is happening only if you beg for it or if you catch and bribe the cleaners. If you're lucky room will be serviced at 5-6pm or even later. Lock on the terrace door was not in function and never been fixed in 7 days we have stayed at the hotel. Location is quite remote from Khao Lak , they say 3.5km but its more 7-8km. We had the car so didn't have problem but if you are without own transport you will end up paying a lot for taxi as hotel shuttle runs only 3 times per day. Lots of mosquitos in the resort as it's located by the river.
The best resort we’ve ever stayed at ”
Can not fault this resort at all. The Ambience of even the bedrooms make you want to book for longer It is that good and pleasing
Peaceful and luxorious place”
+ peaceful atmosphere + Fantastic breakfast + friendly staff + pool area and especially children pool + spacious villas with private pool - expensive restaurants and spa services - no other services near resort (7 km to Khao Lak)
The hotel is very nice and clean. The view is great, near ocean, nice swimming pool and so on. The facility is great,. I love fitness so much. The resort is also focused on the children. The children facility is great, very full-option. The breakfast is good with multiple kind of beverage. Overall, this is a truly 5 star hotel. I am definitely come back again because you already made the big effort for customers 👍.
Utterly disappointed and betrayed ”
This is supposed to be a five star hotel - when it’s clearly not. The worst part is not the hotel and premises itself, but the ignorance, arrogance and non existent empathy and hospitality drive of the employees, reaching through all levels (including the general manager). Language is not always the issue here, as the front office manager shares our nationality. Even the free upgrade to a pool suite after five uncomfortable days could not convince us to even consider staying - we just wanted to leave for our remaining four nights. It was supposed to be the relaxing ending to six weeks travels in Asia. Luckily we found another place. Please find below some of our most decisive factors (clearly not exhaustive): - supposedly new hotel, but rooms have not been cleaned (paint stains etc everywhere in the room, refer to pictures) - no beach access ( stated incorrectly) - shuttle service simply forgot to pick us up in Khao Lak, even after confirming it a second time with the driver himself (blamed it on us, what else) - poor restaurant and bar service, arrogant and non hospitable - even after our third indication housekeeping did not remove paint stains, dirt etc in the room - housekeeping permanently forgot towels, refill of shower gel and shampoo and their cleaning items in the room - room stock insufficient (no spoons for coffee, which is complementary but rarely restocked, no nightstands, no tooth mug, no bottle opener, no hotel information, defect switches, defect lights) - strong smell / odor across the resort - simply not finished - hotel Information channel on tv showed Information and opening hours of Anantara resort in Phuket (?) We even had to pay for the remaining four nights, even though we left. They refused to give us the money back we paid in advance. we were left angry and absolutely speechless. We would not recommend staying at Kalima at this point. We wish the hotel and staff good luck.
Dear Anne, Warm regards from the Kalima Resort & Villas Khao Lak! Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback during stay with us. Our entire team is extremely committed to delivering the perfect vacation experience for each guest. We are very sorry that we did not accomplish this for you Please allow me to comment on some points you have mentioned. Our Resort is located at the Lam Kean Beach in a nice and relaxed area where no other hotels are and is approx. 10min away from the center where you can go with the complimentary shuttle bus from the resort. To get to the beach you just need to cross the small river, 6 meters max. over a bridge. There you find a “private and natural beach where only our guests can go to. Besides that, you can go to the Poseidon Beach which is an insider place for people coming to Khao Lak for many years where 3 to 4 local restaurants are. It is correct that it takes 10min to walk but our hotel provides a shuttle service 4 times a
Friendly staff in a calm hotel”
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. For any problem you know who to approach and they think big! Nice pools and well equipt gym. Cons: The beach is not the beauty of Thailand but with the hotel shuttle + taxi you can arrive to beautiful beaches in the north part. If you are not a smokers be aware that on main areas it is allowed to smoke and that may interrupt you. But in overall great hotel that I would recommend my friends.
Perfect soft landing in Thailand”
Super friendly and helpful staff, super beautiful rooms and pool - access every time of day! The gym and yoga classes are super cool bonus and shuttle bus drives you comfortably to and from local cities. Definitely recommend!
Friendly service, Fantastic Buffet Breakfast”
Great service. Maid service wasn't perfect but she's nice and helped me when I ask for. Everything's great, a bit away from Khaolak center (peaceful instead) but super convenient if you have a car
Good and new resort ”
Good and new resort with lots of facilities.
Good atmosphere hotel”
Last time that I went there, it was on Songkran Holiday so there are many guests and staff could not take care them all. For my group, I didn't get welcome drink and I checked in late almost 2 hours because they could not clear the room for last guest on time. I'm understand but just a bit thing that staff didn't know how to treat guest who're waiting. First they told me that please wait 30 minute but no one called me then I had to ask by myself and the answer is the room is not ready please keep waiting more. I'm Okay for the time but one thing staff should keep attention to us. And I had to ask by myself twice. Only apologized but no complimentary or even welcome drink. They just kept us waiting at the coffee shop. No inform no manage guest feeling. BTW, about hotel is good. proper for vacation, relax in the hotel. Food quite expensive compare with quantity. I suggest to find the nearby local restaurants. it's much better.
Location is amazing away from busy town, beaches are idilic. The hotel has lovely pools the infinity pool has views of the estuary where you can canoe and catch some elephants bathing. Rooms are really good very large beds, very clean. All the staff are always happy and work very hard to give you a good vacation. We are here for few weeks so very happy we made the choice to stay here.
Nice do private space”
Have lots of facilities in the resorts with much fun
un tres bel hotel tout neuf”
great great hotel with lots of commodities, a wonderful swimming pool by the bar, an access to beach a bit off ; no shadow on the beach but very nice the rooms are amazing the swimming pools by the room need the trees to grow up to give more privacy, the beds are super spacious and comfortable last but not least ; the staff is extremely nice and service oriented
