Decent place to stay BUT ......”
Pros - cleanliness. No need to remind them to clean the room the next day. Quaint resort with hot and cold water. Wifi limited to area near reception only. They have generator in case of brownouts. Cons - called them more than 10x to pick us up. No answer. Good thing some tricycle drivers gave us a free ride. We passed by a cemetery and two other big resorts before we reached the place. First impression wasn't good. It seems the owner just gave up in updating their place thereby losing customers from two big resorts sandwiching them. Sheets although clean were already thinned out. It was summer and the small pool they have wasn't even cleaned out for the small kids. Upgrade is really needed because I actually liked the place had they invested more on it. Will i recommend it? No. I'll probably recommend the other resorts beside it.

We are very dissappointed!!!! ”
First of all, the 'beach resort' doesn't have a beach, which is kind of weird, but that wasn't the biggest let down. That came when we came home after a dinner and we're attacked by three dogs. They came running at us, barking really loud and we didn't know what to do. We started yelling for help, but when the owner came out to see what was happening he didn't do a thing. He just stood there watching us. The next morning we obviously complained, and the manager kind of promised us to look at it (as far as we could understand). That night it was fine and we didn't get attacked by the dogs. The next night however the exact same thing happened. Again, nobody came to help us. We were lucky that I carried a large bottle of water that I threw at them to scare them off. The next morning, during check out, we spoke to the owner again and got treated horribly. He laughed at us and told us that it was our own fault because the dogs could feel our fear. Obviously not the way to handle a complaint

Such a disappointment”
We were travelling for a month in Thailand and in Philippines and usually we were trying to find basic accomodation as we didn't have big needs. Kalinga was the most expensive from all, but we booked it finally as El Nido was our final destination and we wanted to rest in a good environment with higher comfort (and also the breakfast was included). Unfortunately it was far away from what we expected. Most of the staff was totally unfriendly, barely say "hello" or smile and didn't provide us any information upon our arrival. They don't even have a map about the town. We wanted to wash our laundry here also, and after a small discussion between each other, they offered a price of 100 peso/kg which obviously was double what others offering couple of meters away from the resort. The breakfast is really really basic and cheap, bad quality, they just make it to your order. Overall, it's an overpriced place with low quality services. The only positivum was our room, which was spacious and tidy.

The location was great, a short stroll outside of the main town which made it nice and peaceful and with beautiful views of Cadlao island. I just felt it was hugely overpriced compared with the better standard of other (much cheaper) accommodation we stayed in.

What is wrong with these people?”
We booked 2 rooms for 4 people. When we arrived, we were told they kind of forgot it and they only have 1 room for us. The main lady who seems to run the place offered us a refund for the 1 room / 1 night. But when the check-out time came, she tried to negotiate the refund (extra beds, whatever - like we wanted the 1 room for 4 people...). The room smelled badly, probably a leaking toilet problem. The staff is a bit brainless. Whatever we tried to schedule in advance (transport, breakfast), they just forgot it or somehow messed up. We needed a transport to the terminal to get in time to our van to Puerto Princesa, so we scheduled 2 tricycles for 4 people. In the morning, there was just one. When we asked for the other one, they brought the cart for transporting pigs. Needless to say, we had to fit into the trike... We also scheduled a private boat to early morning (well, 8am) to get to the places soon before the crowds arrive. Not surprisingly, the captain was nowhere in sight that morning. The main lady went out looking for him. Apparently, they just forgot about us again as the crew was unprepared, they did not even have enough food for all of us. On the other side, the captain and his young helper were good men, we eventually enjoyed our tours. It was a mistake of the hotel staff as they probably forgot to let them know. Again. You go to places like these to have a rest, to relax, to not worry about anything. To enjoy the service. Yet here (and to be fair, all over the Philippines), you are constantly bothered by the ignorance and incompetence of the staff that could not care less about the value they provide. That's not a relaxing experience, but rather a never ending pursue of frustration. Unless of course you get drunk enough to stop caring. Nevertheless, the main lady is a very nice and kind person. She just can't handle the place and her zombie staff is not helping.

When we booked this "resort" we did so with fairly low expectations and would have been happy to stay somewhere peaceful, clean and safe. Unfortunately Kalinga Beach Resort was none of those things. They were in the final stages of finishing their guest pool, which looked lovely - however it meant that each day there were the sounds of angle grinders, hammers and workmen from around 8am. All this was occurring less than 10 metres from our room, and meant the quiet we had so been craving from this holiday was ruined. In addition, quite a few times water was cut to the resort whenever they had new pipes to connect, so tough luck if you were wanting to shower or wash your hands. If we had known that there would have been so much construction occurring we would not have booked there, and I think it's unreasonable that they failed to mention it any stage of the booking process. For future guests I recognise that this won't be a problem - unless they decide to build something else right in front of the guest rooms, which looks likely. Our room itself was very basic, and quite dirty. There was rubbish from previous guests still in there when we arrived, the bathroom tiles were covered in residue, the basin tap broken and water stains and grime on the ceiling. There was only one working light in the bedroom (despite bare fittings for several), the mattress was thin foam and the sheets were threadbare and patched together.Oh and there wasn't even a mattress protector, so we were basically sleeping on other peoples sweat. Speaking of which, the air conditioner in our room was as loud as a freight train. There was one key for the door - this key was a tiny little thing used for a flimsy padlock, because it appears the actual lock was broken (presumably after being forced). This not only meant that we had to leave the key at the front counter whenever we left so housekeeping could get in, but it also meant we were unable to lock the door from the inside - this part was as

The breakfast was poor, the rooms were outdated. It was quite difficult to get to the resort, luckily they have their own tricycle and the boy driving it, managed to pack all of our luggage on it.The view was beautiful though, its a shame you can't swim on the beach at front and the pool was going under construction. And the lack of restaurant besides breafkfast was a bit difficult with kids.

Hotel was ok for what we paid but the staff were not able to answer us when we asked for a further nights stay, also no real choice of drinks at the so called bar.

Okay if you don't care about some basic fascilities but generally not super comfortable (bad bed, lack of proper AC, super old furniture and stopping electricity and water due to construction)
