Not really a good one. It needs improvements”
It was the only choice we had that time as most hotels were book during the New Year. The price went up badly so it's a bit difficult to think about money worthiness. It needs renovation.

Acceptable”
We were less then impressed with this guesthome. Upon arriving we were given a dark room beside the garage which smelt of fumes the first two days. They boast a pool but unfortunately it is filled with what seems to be the entire communities children nearly all the time. Don't get me wrong, I love children but it's hardly a place to relax with screams, splashing and soccer balls flying around. It is slightly outside the main part of town and charges more then guesthomes inside of town while offering no extra value for money. The rooms were average and clean upon arrival, but there just wasn't value for money at this property.

Awful Experience”
The rooms had windows which could not be opened and everything was moist very quickly. The wifi did not work during two days and the reception had no idea what to do. .

Kampot corner”
The swimming pool, the location, the fan.
Okay. Shower room could have been cleaner. Pool was very good. Great value for money. No restaurant service which was not a problem as there was a good eating and drinking place nearby.

Nice spot, pretty basic - we didn't get a great ro”
Swimming pool, location, pleasant staff
We only stopped off here for a nap after a long bout of traveling. The room was extremely comfortable however we were placed in a room where the window looked out onto a corridor. It was clean, affordable and the swimming pool looked nice although we didn't get a chance to use it. Very conveniently located.

Will not return”
The pool, the aircon & room size
My stay at kampot guest house was not good. It has a lovely pool which catches the sun all day and the rooms are spacious. However, our beds were covered in dead mosquitos when we arrived which we brushed off and ignored, until we realised our room was constantly filled with them due to the holes on the roof in the bathroom. I wouldn't normally be too fussy, I have stayed in a number of different types of accommodation but I will not return here, even just due to the smell of sewage in the bathroom. We had booked an extra night as our plans changed but the staff failed to inform us that there would be a 2 day long funeral right on the grounds. This entailed relentless steel drums and prayers from 5am-10pm. When checking out I explained how we had had to leave the room the day before, when we were trying to rest, as the drums were on speaker and vibrating through our room. Also I explained we were awake from 5am due to the prayers and we would have changed guesthouse had we known there was to be such an occassion on the property. I got a weak apology, shoulder shrugging and then the gentleman proceeded to have a good giggle with two female colleagues right in front of me. I understand funerals have traditions and had I known it was going to happen I would have moved sooner. I left here furious and embarrassed at being laughed at in Khmer by the staff.

Beware - Worst experience we have had in Cambodia ”
Pool and rooms are nice.
You know there is something wrong when your first impressions are a line of people waiting at reception claiming the staff have ripped them off. We initially thought nothing of it, checked in and were impressed with the room and pool for the price. However we were soon to learn the man claiming he was charged $40 for non-existent tour definitely had grounds, when we organized an additional night with reception. We were first told that was fine and we could stay in our orginal room. The following morning we were asked to move rooms, 10 minutes before we were to leave on a tour. Although it was a bit of a mad rush, we were happy to move especially when the apologetic receptionist offered us a free room upgrade for our troubles - moving us from a fan to aircon room. The following morning as we exited early for coffee we were accosted by a new receptionist literally screaming at us that we owed them double and must pay now. Apparently we now needed to pay for our 'free upgrade', more than double the original room. Our original receptionist then appeared to tell us if we didn't pay he would call the police. Speaking to other guests it appeared we were not the only ones offered this 'upgrade' only to be threatened and charged later. Its a shame, the hotel itself is nice but unless you want to deal with staff trying to rip you off at every opportunity. DO NOT STAY HERE

The worst guesthouse I have ever experienced”
Normally I don't care if I sleep on a madras on the floor, but this was the worst thing I have ever experienced. Not at all like the descriptions or pictures, the staff was rude and insulting, and did not want to help, internet do not work. "The owner" is the daughter of the previous owner. she rent it from her father and the locals in the area say that she really couldn't care less what happens to the place and it's guests. I ended up leaving, even though I had paid because I didn't want this to ruin my experience of Kampot! So stay away from this place.
