Kampung Juara hotels & places to stay

First off, Kampung Juara is a gem. The beach is clean and the water is crystal clear. There's even some spots with coral reef where you can snorkel! 1511 Coconut Grove is literally next to the beach and we got a seaview chalet that's basically a hop away to the beach. The owner, Mr. Andy was a courteous host and made us feel welcomed and at ease. Easy to rent any gear and prices are affordable. The reception can also arrange for hiking tours and snorkeling trips with no fuss whatsoever. Wi-fi is very spotty so for those who want to post their beach shots on instagram might want to prepare a maxis broadband hotspot handy as the cell reception for DiGi and Celcom are very poor. We had a pleasant stay and hope to re-visit 1511 Coconut Grove again soon!

the barat tioman resort is definitely the best choice for you to stay if you wish to have a quiet and peaceful holiday in tioman. the staffs were so friendly, and the facilities there were superb! rooms are filled with electronic fan and air-conditioning. Water heater, fridge, and TV is provided in the room too. The resort even provides hard disk that contains lots and lots of movie for you to enjoy movie marathon in room!( although those movies are kinda outdated 2006-2014 ..but still it is better than nothing right?) hehes.. In overall, if you plan to have a relaxing beach day in tioman, the barat resort which located in kampung juara is really a good choice for you =) .. <ps : it is quite far from tekek( the jetty ). it took 30 mins up and down the hills to reach kampung juara.>

Although we "just" had the room in the chalet beside the restaurant (another one wasn't available), we really liked our stay at beach shack. The owner and his team were absolutely nice and always smiling. In my opinion really the best place at Juara beach (much cooler and nicer spot as rainbow chalet and bushman) for backpackers. They have everything one needs: good music, a Billard table, games, s.u.p and Kayak to rent and surprisingly very good food (just don't order the "hot/sizzling" plate). Unfortunately there is no alcohol but they don't mind bringing and even cooling your own. You can purchase it at the duty free Shop in terek.

Juara Mutiara is a bit inaccessible. Have to get down at Tekek Village and either take a sea taxi or a share cab (around MYR 20 per person) to reach the resort. As its away from civilisation, the village still has its charm. Clean and vast beach. Quite friendly and welcoming locals. The hotel has most of the basic amenities. I guess its run by a family, so probably not the best of the services. However I would say there wasn't much to complain. We were a group of 5, so picked the quad rooms. Pretty clean. No wifi in the Quad rooms though. Wifi is available only at the lobby area. So if you are looking for internet while on vacation, maybe this isn't the right resort to be. Juara village has only one restaurant (Juara Beach) where you can find some beer. I do not recommend the food at Juara beach resort though. Its relatively costly as they have a certain leverage 'coz of the drinks. So maybe carry some or buy before reaching Juara village and checkout out other restaurants. All the restaurants have standard Malay food. We used to get our lunch and breakfast at Sentai Bistro. Quite decent. All the restaurants are short on resources. So takes a while to prepare the food. Be prepared to wait for atleast half an hour for the orders on weekends. Paradise point deserves a mention as the dude really put a lot of effort to keep up with the orders. And the wait was worth it.

Being a budget traveler I must say this that the hotel is worth for the money and very pleasant clean room. This is first time I travel alone to Tioman and I was not alone there because the villagers and the hotel staffs were very friendly. Since I went to Kampung Juara during the mansoon season, most of the restaurant was closed and not many activities i can do it on that period. However still enjoy simple food that was sold in the village. The hotel staff has offered me help to bring me around the Kampung Juara Up to Tekek. I had good time travelling around the Kampung Juara. what a pleasent green view!! And also I have went hiking at Kampung Juara and enjoyed the beauty of jungle as well the small waterfall which found near the Kampung Juara. I would say that 2days might not enough to enjoy the beauty of the place. This is very special trip ever had in my life as solo traveller I have made new friends, had chit chat and travelled with strangers. I might come back to Tioman again after some time. Its my promise to myself.

We have been to many budget accomodation. Our 3 kids(all under 10y.o.) love the homestay best. Hence we intend to settle for TAMARA at Kg Juara. The place is not crowded and we were exposed more to the natural surrounding and community on the 4WDto and from the jetty and Kg Juara. It was totally breathtaking at TAMARA. We are relaxed from the hustle and bustle of city life, and less wired. At TAMARA, we were surrounded by nature-the beach facing South China Sea and mountains n jungles at the background. In addition, it was enriching and educational! Our kids made friends with some of the staff mainly Nazrul and the volunteers(who were from various parts of the world). They mingled with our kids even when they were busy. The presence of the volunteers in the resort exhibited the appreciation to nature. They helped take care of the cleanliness of the surrounding and welfare of the cats. Eg Leftovers from the food were selected before giving it to the cats! We enjoyed the awesome trips to waterfall, snorkelling, turtle preservation spot and a walk in the village. During our snorkelling trip, Edit (avolunteer) became a 'personal guide' to out 7year old daughter. Our daughter enjoyed her snorkelling trips and in fact overcomes her fear for deep water. Our kids really enjoyed 'running' around and in fact requested to stay in such resorts for our future holiday trips. We definitely will come back to TAMARA for our future Tioman trips. Thumbs up to those who have made our trip to Tioman a memorable and meaningful one!

4 nights with my family. We had a chalet with seaview. It's on the beach. Very Nice beach with lots of local restaurant in the remote location of Juara. Not a lot of people at this season. Permai arranged the trip from Tekek at a good rate. The chalet are basic but with good AC and a fridge (ideal to cool the beers bought at the duty free shop at Tekek. They are clean and the matress is good. Very good option to stay at Juara.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel. We had a problem with our room so the owner moved us to a different room. The room was big, clean and confortable. The mattress was just great. hot shower. We could hear the waves from our room (we didn't book a sea view). The staff was helpful and smily. The beach was so closed, it was amazing. The 2 negative points were: 1) the cost of a taxi to get to Juara, RM35/pers; 2) the noise from the 'main road'in Juara. The locals travel on motorbike and the noise could be irritating. Overall, I would recommend this place -)
