Exceptional”
I couldn’t be happier to find and stay at Kandy View. The place is beautiful. The top floor has an amazing view of the nature that surrounds Kandy and it’s really nice starting the day having breakfast with the view. All the meals are super good and the owner makes an extra effort to make people feel confortable and well received.

Very nice place”
We enjoyed very much our stayed in the hotel. The owner was very nice and very helpful. We asked to stay 2 extra nice and they were very welcoming. This is one of the best locations we found in Sri Lanka. If we are to come back to kandy for sure we will come back to the kandy view hotel.

Stunning views, but no WiFi or pool as advertised”
The room we stayed in had absolutely stunning views of the forest. The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly. However, there was no WiFi, the pool had been drained and the room was very dim as one of the lights wasn't working.

Above average”
It doesn't have the best of views but very close to get to the lake. Recently refurbished and the rooms look nice.. Staff is also very friendly..

Terrible”
This was the worst experience I had. Checked in for two rooms we booked and was told there was a "glitch" with booking. That the price we paid was incorrect and he ended charging us doubled. The rooms were dirty. There is no view. Limited parking space.

beautiful place with great green surrounds, ”
Our stay at Kandy view Hotel was just a delight and most memorable. The staff was fantastic. Our room upstairs was spacious and clean with fantastic views.. Monkeys swinging from branch to branch, little squirrels running up and down and cows peacefully grazing on the ground. The dining area was on a terrace where you were invited to watch the chefs cooking and take down recipes. The food was of very good quality and well priced. The hotel is on a pretty steep climb from the main road but we (very senior cits) walked to to Kandy Lake and the Temple and as far as the city centre and back, almost every day...A beautiful walk.. if we were too tired there were plenty of tuk tuks one could take for around 250rps. We recomment this hotel most highly !

A great yet lucky choice”
we arrived to Kandy in the afternoon during a massive storm with no booking - one of the internet coffee was our asylum and we picked up one hotel, luckily it was the Kandy view - the tuktuk drive from center is cheap and quick, still you re away from the city centre rush on one of the jungle hills surrounding the hotel, a welcome juice was a big plus as it was humid 35 degrees C. The hotel manager was very helpful, the rooms were clean and tidy, with big windows and a small balcony (where monkeys play during the morning - do not forget to keep the doors closed). We stayed for a couple of days, the hotel has a great dining terrace with a chef preparing the food in front of your eyes, excellent fresh prawn curry ! and gold Lion lager beer create a great atmosphere after a hot day. The hotel manager also helped us to pick a tuktuk driver who gave us a cool ride around the city. In the end he organised a taxi trip for us and friends to the south which also went without a trouble. If you re staying at Kandy, I would recommend this place without hesitation. Fantastic hotel with amazing food and views.”
Didnt have high expectations of this hotel. Boy is this place underrated. Safe to say the best hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Staff were super friendly and accommodating, the manager was really great to speak to, enthusiastic about great service so he commands his staff around and gets stuck in himself. Gave us some great cooking tips too! Pool is smallish but really clean. We did a tour of Kandy with a guy the hotel has used for years. We saw some great sights and were left to decide what we did and didnt do. We even paid him twice the amount we should have by accident and he came back to give us the money. Unreal. Kandy is a noisy, busy place so to stay 5 mins from the lake is well advised. Unless you want to sleep with cars honking and people shouting all night. stay here.

Great place to chillax”
We came for 2 nights and stayed 4. The view from top floor room was amazing, floor to ceiling windows and the vista over lush green jungle with monkeys. Money well spent! It's not in the centre of Kandy, which is pretty hectic, but still 15-20min walking distance along the lake. You can walk on the both sides so it's never boring. Alternatively frequent bus nr 653 or 659 will take you there for 10-15 rupees from the local bus station (near train station). Get off Devon hotel and walk few minutes. Breakfast was a buffet feast inc plenty of fruit, pancakes, Sri Lankan option as well as eggs done to order, bread (you can ask to be toasted), fresh coffee and tea. All served on the high floor with a view over the trees and regular monkey visits. The internet is fast in the reception, not so great in the rooms. On top of that, there is a swimming pool, which on hot day is a treat. Aircon in the rooms was a bliss - definitely worth staying!

great service”
the hotel itself is ok. room is big but there's no AC, which is fine. the temperature dropped down very low in the evening. the room has a whole glass wall with a door to a little balcony. all the balconies are connected so you kinda feels like someone is watching you from outside in the evening, cause the curtain can't be closed fully. which is lack of privacy. about the view . from the room i stayed there's not much view, just facing the mountain. maybe there are other rooms with a view can see Kandy. Wifi is very slow. can't really get on internet anywhere in the hotel . the food is great. you can see the chef cook your food , also you can learn how to make it. the chef will explain and show you how to cook it. the best is the service, the manager is very helpful and speaks really good english. he arranged the one day kandy tour and also arrange the tour for the next two days. which is very helpful for us to have a very tight schedule. hotel is not very close to all the sights. so hire a tuk tuk to get around the city is very necessary

Nice staff big rooms great view ”
Don't be worried about the rocky road up to this hotel, when you arrive you are welcomed by great staff and nice clean rooms. The hotel is up on the hill but isn't too far away from kandy lake. Always book tuk tuks through the hotel to avoid being ripped off and call the hotel to see how much a tuk tuk should cost from the where you get dropped off. The only annoying thing about this hotel was the wifi, it didn't work in the room and it was hard to get it in the restaurant as well. You had to sit in the lobby for good wifi. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Great value for money.

Very good hotel for low price”
The hotel is located on a hill near Kandy Lake. It's a quiet and plaeasant place. Very friendly manager and stuff. Various tasty meal in open-air restaurant with great view. Room is spacious and clean. Only the problem was a lavatory pan very uncomfortable located very close to shower cabin. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice food & a short walk to the lake”
The Kandy View Hotel is a a little distance away from the lake but it's a great budget option to access Kandy. We were travelling on a budget so we opted for a standard room. It was right next to the reception (luckily they managed to set the reception phone to go straight to answer phone after about ten o'clock. That might've got annoying). The room was small and the shower was frankly a joke, but the hotel's other facilities are good. The pool is nice and the food is great, we had our curry cooked in front of us which was fun, and tasty! If we were staying longer we'd have definitely tried to switch to a better room but for one night it was fine.

Good place to see Kandy in 1-2 days”
We stayed one night in the hotel to explore the city of Kandy from there. The staff of the hotel was very professional and we received an exceptional service. We were offered juice when we arrived and immediately they told us everything about the hotel and the sightseeing opportunities of Kandy. They also offered a tuk-tuk service from the hotel to explore Kandy, which was at a good price, so we took it. For 2400 rupias we got a tuk-tuk for the whole day, taking us to all the major attractions and explaining us everything. The driver spoke English pretty well and was very nice and friendly. We also received bottled water from the hotel for our journey. The view from the hotel is pretty nice, and the restaurant is almost on the very top. The food in the restaurant was average, not bad but not especially good. The only disadvantage of the hotel is the location, it's quite far from the city, on a hill, so you definitely need a tuk-tuk to get to the city from there. On the other side it's pretty close to the nature, with trees surrounding it and monkeys climbing around on the trees.
