Receptionist who didnt speak english showd us through google traslator "we got bed bugs in your room, we need to spray it - you will have diferent hotel"(way better than room with bed bugs, Im alergic for insect bite) ....... so after few minutes we have endend up in "Charming Hotel" where bathroom was falling apart becose of rust and smell of mold was realy strong. But the night was good, shower was working and when I turn up aircon to Heating you could breath it without mold smell.... but anyway for what i saw from Kangaroo for me no thanks :)

Good Location”
Kind staff, good location. Slightly overpriced for the condition of facilities and breakfast should be sought elsewhere. Lots of stairs.

Good at the beginning but kinda disappointing at last”
When we first arrived the hotel, it was pretty fine as the hotel owner (lady boss) was polite and friendly. She upgraded our room to a deluxe room as well as providing us a lot of information about the local tours which was really kind and helpful. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights (For the first 2 nights when we arrived in Hanoi and the other night after our Sa Pa trip) Well, everything seemed pretty fine at first but then it started to get unpleasant when we were about to depart from Sa Pa to Hanoi. We booked a bus ride at 4pm via the hotel upon arrival but then we were informed by the staff at the bus station that they couldn't find our booking in the record and the bus was full. The staff kept forcing us to go back in the next morning but that's ridiculous because we needed to rush for our flight the next time during noon time! Hence, I called the hotel regarding this issue. Well, it was really funny that no one was admitting who did the mistake. The bus company staff told us that it was the hotel problem but then the hotel owner said that it was the bus company problem as they didn't manage and messed up the booking. Anyway after some arguments, I finally managed to get a bus ride to Hanoi at 10pm and arrived in Hanoi at 2am. Hence, we checked in around 3 am but there was no refund given and there was only one room (which was a bit run-down)left at the highest floor which was really tiring to get up there. The staff who opened the door was rude to us. Next morning, the lady boss did apologize to us but this mistake seriously caused us a lot of inconvenience as we got really drained out in the next morning and ruined our tentative travelling plan which was really awful. The hotel should really improve on their hospitality. *Note that this hotel is seriously not recommended if you have heavy luggage, children or elders because this property does not have lift so you would need to climb up the stairs (if you stay at higher floor that's really inconvenient)

Helpful staff and good location.”
We stayed here for 5 days in total and were very satisfied with our stay. Both receptionists, Anh and Lucy, were tremendously helpful and assisted in booking our trips to Sapa and Halong Bay. The breakfast was delicious and filling as well. The hotel is also centrally located and is a 5 minute walk from the lakeside. There are convenience stores and an ATM located on the main street outside of the hotel. My only gripe with the hotel was that there was no lift. We had to walk up several flights of stairs to reach our room, so request a room on the lower floor if you can. All in all, a great stay!

Nice little hotel in old quarter”
The friendly and helpful stuff really makes it up for a rather old hotel. The hotel itself could use a makeover, but if you're not looking for high class, this is a good place with all the basics. The rooms are well equipped with aircon, tv, fridge, kettle, hairdryer. Not really a hostel, it's actually a 2 star hotel.
